Excellent tutorial series. I read the rules and then watched this series to really get the grips. Great stuff mate!

I first watched this video when I got into DND .Now I'm watching it to relearn to game because of the people I thought to play dnd is gonna be a DM and I'm playing in there game .

I like to think of magic, and martial arts, as being akin to music. Some people have a lot of natural talent, but some have zero talent. Most of us are somewhere in between. But anyone with any amount can learn to be proficient, and even to attain mastery. And mastery has far more to do with work ethic, emotional development, and other factors than just raw talent. A teacher helps, but isn't always necessary. However, without discipline, one will never succeed. There's no such thing as a lazy musician or a lazy sensei.

I like the idea of people using any magic system, but they have to master it to become a master.

I like to flavor druids as apex predators who, while protector of the wild, is also primal by nature. If we kill random animals that attack us, he won’t feel bad about killing poor animals, he’ll say they had been dumb enough to attack superior predators and that the next generation will benefit from not having their stupidity passed on.

This is what I used as my first stab at being a DM. Brand new table, no one had really played DnD and I somehow got roped into being the DM (also new to DnD). I still use this oneshot any time I need something to use as a basic intro to DnD!

Chars need a character arc to inspire empathy in the audience, that's 1 reason it helps illicit genuine emotions from their deaths. Another great tutorial, CJ, thanks!

Now I'm starting to understand Why Chixia from Wuthering Waves changed so much from Beta. As a character her action and reactions made sense. But by Gacha Waifu rules. She's Terrible. Connection to the player was Broken over something they had no control over. Her Personality goes through a Massive change where she Distrust you heavily and again over something you the player couldn't control. Damn.

What am I doing? I can see in my head why I would apply what you discussed, but I’ll always know it was inspired by waifus. My imagination is running wild and I want it to stop.

Great overview, i just have one argument on it. You can have a character above level 20. These are epic level characters. I think you left them out for the sake of simplicity, but they do exist and can be played and worked up to.

Very interesting! Material 'components' weren't needed to cast spells in Baldur's Gate 3. I'm planning on being a casual DM, & going easy on players (especially since so many will be newbies). So I'll probs drop material requirements
