I _really_ like the idea of each ability getting 3 skills, with one being a social skill on each, rather than dumping all social skills onto a single ability. That opens the door for so many more roleplay scenarios, rather than just having a party face always take the lead for every social encounter. And since there's also 3 skills per ability score, that helps making sure all of them feel equally useful for skills. (In practice it'll depend how often certain skills come up, but that can just be a scenario-design thing.)
One of my favorite character creation methods is quickly becoming the lifepath method from Traveller. It's a bit long but is great for coming up with backstory, encouraging players to build a history between their characters and it's so in depth it's almost a whole game in and of itself. In some versions or rules it's even possible for PC to die DURING character creation forcing you to start over, not many games have the guts to do that.

I's a sci-fi Space setting with aliens you can be, interesting rules and mechanics, and cool character creation methods, including going through carrier stages and optional death in character creation.
This video sounds amazing, until the volume blows my eardrums through, and I slowly bleed out in a twitching pile. Might want to do some audio balancing, and bring those levels down.

For a backstory system you could use something akin to Cyberpunk RED's lifepath system
"Lifeform"? That's one of the daftest terms I've seen so far.
A sentient sword is not a race. Only lifeform make sense.
