one time in a call of Cthulhu game the keeper let my character obtain the necronomicon and the keeper said the book contains the secrets to revive your dead party and i said naw i want to wake azazoth
I love how Rosalind is getting bored and impatient in the background while you are explaining how magic works :')
I will add that when spellcasting if you succeed at an opposed pow check against an opponent, you are able to improve power during the improvement phase. It is one of the few ways to increase your power and explains why many wizard have extremely high power.

PD I love the way you explain concepts, as a CoC master I did not use magic in the 6e but now I might give it a try, but nothing about summoning.... Yet...

Rosalin being of a Cult... Well, that's scary, but it is possible. At least the Pulp Cthulhu book has *Cult Leader* as an option for a profession.
As Keeper, I would deny that option to brand new players, but still.
It would depend on the player for me. If I know that person and if I can collaborate with them to kinda map out their goals as part of a cult to ensure that it won't disrupt play in a way that hinders the fun of other players, I'm cool with it even if they're new!
But if that would be too overwhelming for them, I'd also advise against it

These videos are a lifesaver...Love the concise explanations, the graphs, the story! I haven't played CoC for some time and had a game last Sunday. Put these on x2 speed omw to the game room and the game was a blast! I was running DeadLight in my own setting and it is always fascinating how such trope scenarios still create a fantastic atmosphere when you are actually in them.

Where do you find Grimoire stats like The Book of Eibon? I've only been able to find stats for The Book of Eibon in the Keeper's handbook but nothing else.

I have a question, if in combat someone is casting a spell and the enemy is trying to attack the player. Can the player dodge or no because they are casting a spell?

So i could learn how to cast spells in a weekend?? I can read a book & learn a spell in five minutes??
A bit late, but skimreading a book is up to the Keeper. You can't really learn a spell in 5 minutes, RAW it takes 2D6 weeks to learn a spell from a tome. If you have a teacher, it takes only 1D8 days. You can also try to use your knowledge of Cthulhu mythos to try to bend the universe to your will. The player describes the desired outcome and it's again up to the Keeper as to the cost of SAN, MP and possible POW and the result. Do note that a spontaneous casting does not imprint said spell to your memory.
