Flying High: Cirrus SR22 Adventure to the Wright Brothers Monument at First Flight KFFA #cirruslife

If you are a pilot, I don’t have to tell you the historical significance of First Flight Airport (KFFA) where Wright Brother's Monument is located. Flying to the site where mankind's first power flight took place has been on my bucket list before I even became a pilot. I've always heard about this airport being challenging to get into due to the constant wind at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina...

Before I graduated from college, I made a promise that someday I would fly my own plane back to Ann Arbor to watch a Michigan Wolverines Football game. We took off from Farmingdale Republic Airport (KFRG) around 4:30PM and arriv...

I've included almost all of the ATC audios from take off most of the Hudson River VFR Corridor (SFRA). So please join u...
Which is faster "door to door"? Cirrus SR22 or an Airliner? #cirrus

If you are a pilot, chances are you've been asked if flying your own plane is faster than flying a commercial airliner. I've decided to put this to test: my friends flew on an airliner while my wife and I took our Cirrus SR22. We flew from Republic Airport (KFRG) in Farmingdale, NY to Mont-Tremblant International Airport (CYFJ) in La Macaza, Quebec. Which do you think will be faster door to doo...

Prior to owning our own plane, we were unfamiliar with the maintenance process. We always thought this is a complicated and time consuming process. With that said, not all CSC are the same - about a dozen of us from the Long Island area flies to US Flight Aircraft Maintenance...
Why did he buy a Beechcraft Bonanza over a Cirrus SR22?
zhlédnutí 60KPřed 2 lety
My friend is a big fan of the Cirrus SR Series. He was trained in a Cirrus SR20 and has quite a few hours in both the SR20 and SR22. Yet for his first plane, he bought a Bonanza F33A instead. Why did he do that? Because of of the cost. The Beechcraft Bonanza is often considered as one of the top alternatives to the Cirrus SR22. This Bonanza will achieve 90% of a SR22's performance at 25% of the...

First, LOVE the profile name. Second, couldn’t help but notice (and appreciate) how courteous you were to everyone. Well done!
thanks so much pal! doesn't cost me anything to be nice and courteous. :)
Friends don't let friends fly plastic airplanes. Always thought the F33A was the perfect Bonanza. The lines look perfectly balanced....A36 looks like the fuselage behind the wings is too long. Just like the 310R...longer nose on the R model made it look PERFECT.
Remember that acceleration boost cost a lot of money and don't come with mags, the price difference is not so far. so I get the P too.
Does the LR model feel like it doesnt launch from a stop before and/or after getting the acceleration boost? Drove a demo Model Y LR today at Tesla and it felt underwhelming upon acceleration, more of a gradual increase in power as it gained speed. While the car said "standard," I am wondering if the demo model hindered any bit of launch. Performance model definitely pulls u back in the seat.
Does anyone know how much it costs more to insure the Performnance, if any?
You motivate me. I appreciate these videos.
i hate the cirrus and i dont trust to fly one
I've got the MYLR in Toronto Canada and I had points from my friend who bought a Tesla using my referral code so I used it to get acceleration boost and you get it for good and I did not have to buy it. Plus I have a 7 seater MYLR. Definitely better than the performance.
That's a very nice paint job.
Nice video! Thank you for posting your great content/videos with KFRG departures.. they are fantastic and well done. Don't stop!! You're inspiring. Wish I could get back there (I stopped after instrument rating).
Thank you very much!
When you’re doing your pre flight planning just wondering if you ever consider when in the ice what if the engine quit? What’s your thoughts? Cirrus is a very capable IFR aircraft but still only a single engine. Not sure if I’d Plan on being in the ice in any piston single for a climb.
Even if Cirrus has FIKI, it’s not meant to be in the ice. When I plan, i always plan an “out”. On this leg I knew we will be punching through a relatively mild layer to get on top of the layers. It was only for a short duration hence we made a go decision.
Love the professionalism and attention to detail in all your videos.
I appreciate that!
Love the clear radio transmissions. Thank you for letting us be apart of this and sharing the video. Time is the most expensive commodity in the world!

I love your content.
Thanks Gary!
Badass plane even more badass pilot, pure masterclass on comms
Thanks pal!
AB for sure... tires are cheaper than performance and nearly identical performance really. Much better value for the money
You're wife is wonderful. She grinded the rims on your Tesla just so you could do a DYI video on how to fix it.
Quem procura acha… sempre tem um mais forte que você… respeito é a melhor atitude
I wouldn’t do that in that plane. Those planes are slow, no bathroom, can’t hold 4 people and petrol and any luggage. Better off just taking a high speed train if you have them in that country. We have cheap flights that fly out all the time so I haven’t had to own a plane in 5 years since my 28 birthday.
awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing!
Our pleasure!
What a cool trip!
thanks ian!
why no vids in 9 months????
Plane was sold in October and my new plane SR22 G7 isn’t arriving until 2025. Plus a major work project just came online last summer and is about to be wrapped up. Thanks for your patience, but there will be new vid coming within the next 60 days :)
@@SlowAsianDriver big difference in planes old one vs new one?
Yes…the price tag. 😅. Actually the G7’s avionics package and interior are incredible. Is it worth the extra $100K? That’s TBD.
So far, my favorite thing about a Cirrus is A/C. It's so underrated holding short for a few landings in July
How did I (we) flew planes without a/c is beyond me. 🤣
PERFORMANCE WITH ACCELERATION BOOST PLEASE
The selfie count is annoying.
Not turbo, correct? I haven't even started lessons yet but have been debating it for a long time. Seems like the most updated, most capable plane. If I stick with it this is what I'm buying.
Cirrus is an amazing and well rounded plane. Yes this one isn’t a turbo.
@@SlowAsianDriver It's beautiful inside and out. Seems well behaved from what owners have said. Thanks for the video and response. Any chance you would consider doing a real cost of ownership video? There's some out there but updates are always welcome with how outrageous inflation is.
i thought about it, but the cost is quite dynamic.
@@SlowAsianDriver that's why we need it! Lol
great video. it my dream to be able to do this one day
thanks and I'm sure you will :)
You can hear Farmingdale State 50 on the frequency while climbing out of FRG. My son flew that plane many times. He now flies mostly FRG62 or FRG63. Farmingdale State College uses those two planes for Commercial Rating training.
Awesome!
Great job flying. Great family! Reminds me of taking my younger kids on flying roadtrips 10 years ago. Keep enjoying it! Dave
Thanks Dave!
Nice Vid. But why the music in the background. Very annoying that I stopped after a few minutes
Thanks for the feedback. Still new at this.
Trade it in for the Cirrus Vision Jet and you can sleep even longer…
I'm new to your channel and a fellow Cirrus brother. I could see the happiness and pride on your face as you touched down at such an important landmark. Great video. Thanks for showing the power lines were not as bad as I thought. You had low winds that day. Great stuff.
thanks so much!
Story to the N Number? :) or just a coincidence?
888 is a lucky number in Asian culture and "Fu" phonetically means lucky & prosperity...I thought it was a great idea to combine the two...apparently we didn't quite think that one through...lol.
@@SlowAsianDriver that's funny for sure. A great contrast to various cultural vernacular. If you ever make it to Beaufort , SC I'd love to meet you. I am just a little 172 guy but a friend of mine has a SR22 that I fly with every now and then.
Thanks Douglas and if you are come up to FRG let me know as well. I'm not a typical snooty SR22 owner...j/k...most of guys I met are all down to earth.
No BRS for the Bonanza. Easy decision. But really admire the cost savings.
This is Model Y Performance humbling a Macan GTS czcams.com/video/oHdCoUsQ-to/video.html
Bought my first plane in April 2022, a 1970 Beech A36. I fracking love it. In my mind no comparison to the Cirrus. They aim at slightly different markets and missions. My A36 is much easier to load, can load more, go further and is more comfortable. The Cirrus goes faster, but while burning more fuel. Besides the cost the real question is your mission and how far you plan to fly. I used 160kts for the A36 and 180kts for the SR22. For the typical 550nm legs I would do it's a 23min difference, but I can carry so much more (including people). My A36 has a 1325lb useful load. There is a SR22T with FIKI at the club I use to rent. And I get it (it's on least back) for people that want to travel when the freezing level is low or need to make that trip, that plane delivers without having to step up to a turboprop. But bottom line the Cirrus costs overall are about twice as much to get there a little faster for the type of flying I do. And that includes flying from WA to FL. Also in my case I delivery bought an older plane for the extra useful load (with no damage or haul issues) then then upgraded the entire panel.
The guy on the right cant put down his phone. He s unable to be present.
he's just like my kid...sometimes it's easier to get his attention by texting...even though he's sitting right next to me. smh
He s missing the best. Btw, found your videos. Love them and told my wife how life in the US allows you to live incredibly good and rewarding lives. Well done and keep flying, and recording for us to be jealous.

I think 'isolate' would be a good option for you in busy airspace. Lol. That was funny. 👋

I purchased the performance in December 2023 and it dropped in price 10k for just 51k.

@@SlowAsianDriver and it literally just broke down on me today. Isn’t charging. I’ll post a video on here about that

Between the Cirrus and the bonanza, the obvious winner is THE COLUMBIA! That truly is the best thing for the buck
i want the boost but i don't wanna pay 2k. i've tried dishing out referrals but no one is taking action LOL. i might just buy the damn upgrade
…you can always make more money, but can you make more time? 🙃
Well John I haven't spoked to you in awhile and you probably don't remember me but we talked. Anyway I finally bought a plane a T182T 2007 with full g1000 package and loving it. My training is on hold while I recover from a minor surgery but can hardly wait to get back at it.
Congrats pal! Great plane and an amazing avionics. It’s practically a minivan. Whatever you can stuff into a 182, it’ll fly. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
We fly a G2 SR-22 with TKS only. It's great peace of mind but living up north, we still can't fly 4+ months out of the year so naturally I'm considering a FIKI upgrade. Hoping the new G7 Cirrus puts some downward pressure on G5 and G6 prices!
I'm sure it will. I recently sold this plane and ordered a new G7. I've already got offered a newer G6 with less hours than mine for less money than what we sold it for.
Beautiful Airplane Hearty belated congrats!
Thanks a lot! We just sold this plane and I ordered a new G7...can't wait.
My Mooney feels like a fighter jet, not a truck . Same useful load, 1/3 less fuel burn and faster, just sayin ;)
Fair enough!
You inspire me. Hopefully soon
You can do it pal!
Loved the video. Thanks for sharing! Have you done a cross country on the Cirrus? Like NY to L.A.? Other question, would you fly the Caribbean in your Cirrus? I mean like Miami to Dominican Republic, or St. Barths? The question is more oriented at flying over sea with your Cirrus. I'm looking forward to a SR22T on 2024! Thank you!
I haven't done NY to LA...that's just too long. If you are interested in doing US to DR/Caribbean, you should follow n305victorvictor on IG. AOPA also has an excellent section on international flying. Good luck!
