Took me 26 years to do this VERY SPECIAL Flight from NY to MI | Cirrus SR22

- Before I graduated from college, I made a promise that someday I would fly my own plane back to Ann Arbor to watch a Michigan Wolverines Football game. Recently I flew my Cirrus SR22 back to the University of Michigan and fulfilled this promise. My buddy Braulio (fellow pilot and Bonanza owner) came along for the ride. We took off from Farmingdale Republic Airport (KFRG) around 4:30PM and arrived at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (KARB) 3.5 hours later.
This trip will be in two parts: Part One is our outbound flight and Part Two (coming soon) will be our return flight. So please join us in our Cirrus SR22 as we fly to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the weekend.

Go Blue!!!!! And what a season we had!
Can’t wait for the season to start! Go Blue!
We all have our winged birthplace stories and it was cool flying along with you on yours.
Thanks pal!
The best cirrus content on the internet in my opinion. Lots of people with SR22s but not your charisma on camera!
Thanks pal…lol. My wife will disagree with you…she thinks I’m an idiot. 🤣
That was a very very long clearence 😂😂😂 greetings from Germany
Imaging if I didn’t have Flight Stream and have to enter each point one by one into the FMS. 🤣 be well my friend!
Looks like an awesome, nostalgic, weekend trip that is made possible by general aviation. Love it!
Thanks Luke!
Well John I haven't spoked to you in awhile and you probably don't remember me but we talked. Anyway I finally bought a plane a T182T 2007 with full g1000 package and loving it. My training is on hold while I recover from a minor surgery but can hardly wait to get back at it.
Congrats pal! Great plane and an amazing avionics. It’s practically a minivan. Whatever you can stuff into a 182, it’ll fly. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
This is why I am working towards my private -to be able to fly to my alma mater catch a game and fly back. I can do mine in one day though if it’s a 12 noon game.
My team has your guys at our place this year. So if I get a chance to fly up for that game I hope to see 8 Foxtrot Uniform on the ramp at KUNV.
I’m a big fan of Coach Franklin. It’s gonna be a great game. Is it a “white out” game?
@@SlowAsianDriver that is TBD. it depends on when the TV people decide when kickoff is. We feel it’s either Michigan or Iowa for the White Out. Our Iowa game is in September.
It was nice seeing you at the event today
Same here pal!
@@SlowAsianDriver funny enough, my uncle parked behind you. Fly safe my friend
Awesome videos man even cooler I also fly my Mooney M20J out of FRG
Awesome. Where r u on the field? Feel free to hit me up on IG (same name)…be happy to meet up with a fellow Aviator.
Always nice to go back and visit special places, certainly on this level. Nice flight. I always wanted to someday drive a Ferrari🏎down the street where I grew up. Took a few decades to achieve. Yup, Did it!!
Better late than never!
Always a pleasure watching you fly John just makes me more impatient to restart my flying. :O)
You got this! Can’t wait to hear about your progress. 💪🤙
Just missed ya on the ramp yesterday morning, 11/23. Was flying the Sikorsky based at Atlantic and parked on the overflow, Will say hello in the future. Keep up the great vids!
Thanks Mike! See you around pal!
Glad to see you back
Thanks pal. Just been busy.
Awesome video with a fanstastic story. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks pal! 😂
Great memory..great story! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃!!
Thanks pal & Happy Thanksgiving to you and fam!
I have always dreamed of having PPL. Your videos help me understand all the procedures involved in an IFR flight.
Keep it up!
Thanks Carlos! I encourage you to get your PPL. Flying is an incredibly rewarding privilege. ✌️🤙
Go Blue
Go Blue!! 🤙
Nice video pro🥰🥰🥰😁😆
Thank u. ✌️
Your video brings back good memories! I also learned to fly at the Aviation Center (I soloed in March of '98), great place with friendly and competent people, great instructors and maintenance team. I flew 757MP, 714UA, 910MF, 64944 and more. I always enjoy your videos, glad to see that we have this experience in common. Cheers and safe flights!
OMG I also flew 910MF! Happy to see we flew the same birds! Happy Thanksgiving pal!
Thanks, happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Looking forward to your next videos, I own a 1962 Cherokee and made some videos of my own... I enjoy flying around Michigan with my family. Happy fly!
Happy flying, I meant 😁
Awesome! Will check out your vids tomorrow. 😂
Very cool, John. Thanks for taking us along this nostalgic trip. Quick (novice) question: what type of camera is that which turns 360 degrees on its own? Thanks.
Thanks Giorgio! The camera is a Go Pro Max 360. It doesn’t physically turn, but does capture full 360 degree view and you can manipulate the view in the editing software.
My son also graduated from UofM's College of Engineering in Software Engineering, now works for Capital One in Chicago. Have often volunteered for Children's Hospital events for Dreams and Wings program. Next time if you visit ARB or Detroit area let us do lunch. Used to own a 1953 Piper Tripacer and now on a hunt for a replacement. Regards Ajit Mahida
Thanks so much Ajit! You raised your son well pal! 🤙👍
@@SlowAsianDriver Thanks! Go Blue after the game last weekend. Looking forward to upcoming game this weekend. Hope you and your family had an enjoyable and restful weekend.
Wow those are some bright lights 😮 Great video! Doing my instrument now and it’s really cool to see some of the techniques you employ. Is that a Tesla crew car at ARB?
Thanks pal! Tesla is from Hertz located about 3 minutes away. I don't think Aviation Center has crew cars. Good luck with your IFR ticket.
@@SlowAsianDriver Thank you!
Man this motivated me to persue my childhood dream.....how many years did it take for you to be able to complete this trip?
25 years...lol. Better late than never.
@@SlowAsianDriver from your first class?!
Yes. Because I started my flight training in college but didn’t finish. Then I picked it again 15 years later in 2012. It took me 1 year to get my private and then another year to get my instrument rating.
@@SlowAsianDriver man ty I started reading up on GA and am looking at schools now! Thanks for this motivation
Anytim pal. Feel free to reach out on IG and I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
What’s next new plane?
I wonder how many of the younger viewers said to themselves, “What is all the clicking and dinging at the beginning?”
😂 I showed a cassette to my son and asked him to identify it…he said “is it a CD?” 🤦🏻♂️
Where do you get the background music from? What source do you use, free do monthly subscription?
I use several sources (element, artist.io, etc) that I pay annual licensing fees to.
Nice video. I'm guessing your buddy isn't an Ohio State fan...
1. He never watched a football game until recently.
2. I got him quite a few Michigan Memorabilia.
3. He wasn't given an option to root for anyone else...
I just realized the questionable paint scheme on my plane... smh.
@@SlowAsianDriver "Questionable paint scheme": Pretty funny! Thanks for the laugh!
Noticed your 888FU is up for sale... Are you giving up flying?
Nope…still be flying ;) My airplane partner has a change in his situation plus we both feel the market is changing so it a good financial decision.
@@SlowAsianDriver wish I could afford it... Definitely my dream aircraft... Good luck with the sale and looking forward to seeing more of your videos...
Thanks pal!
Your plane is for sale
Yes it is.
