I hope to see you at the Lincoln Heritage Museum on July 13th at 1:00 PM. I’ll be talking about the wonderful hobby of metal detecting and the history beneath our feet. By the way, are you familiar with Abraham Lincoln’s interesting connection to metal detecting? If not stop on by to find out!
Manassas VA - A Metal Detecting Roadtrip!
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 2 měsíci
Two friends and I travelled to an area near the famed Manassas Virginia civil war battlefield. Rumor had it that a local river ford was used as a crossing point by both northern and southern armies. Our mission was to locate the ford and try to recover any evidence of civil war activity. We hoped to also learn more about the battles of Manassas and who knows, maybe even have a little bit of met...

Metal Detecting Ring Recovery
zhlédnutí 393Před 2 měsíci
One of the best things about the hobby of metal detecting is the ability to give back to the community. We often do this by providing free recovery services for those that are trying to locate lost items such as rings, pieces of jewelry and even lost property stakes. Today was one of those days! #metaldetecting #ringrecovery

Great video amigo!
So, so cool!! It would be awesome if you guys could do the other Ingalls-Wilder sites, especially the one in Independence, Kansas!
I would absolutely consider it if they extended an invite!!
Very cool it is fun talking with the property owners and hearing there stories. Nice finds
Thx Shane! Appreciate you watching and commenting. HH!
That's really cool Rob 😎 I love history and gifts
Thx neighbor!
What a great experience, Rob👍
🕊💜💫
Nice token, haven't been to the dells since the kids were young.
😂 you might have had better luck on your attempt if you had that token on you.
Tell me about it!😂
Dutch boy paint figurine?
Omg…it very well could be! I knew it seemed familiar!
Very cool hunt!
Great finds were about 20min from that area got some awesome permissions in fdl
Thank you! Let me know if you’re ever down my way. I’m in Oconomowoc.
That's cool 😎 Rob
Thx Tommy!
Great video as always buddy! The moose head was a great and unique find.
Thanks 👍
Great outing that moose head is an interesting find
Nice Job Rob Rizzo and I heard people are finding a 1910 Indian head cent with the D mint mark. If I found it that's my oldest Indian head cent in the entire world.
Thx Connor! Love those IHPs!
COOL head!! what a find!! Nice!
Nice work, could the moose item be a cane topper
Very possible!
Hey Rob, remember I was telling you about the ring I lost in my back yard, well I was walking up the driveway the other day and looked down and saw a ring and it turned out to be mine 😁
That’s awesome. Congrats!!
Very cool wish I could make it
Good Finds👍
Can you share the overall Interior Height of the pack with the zipper closed where the coil & shaft are? Thanks!
Appears to be about 26.5 inches. Fits my Deus 2. This is the XP 240 backpack. They also sell a 280 which is larger. I do not know the dimensions of that. Since I released this video CKG has also launched a metal detecting backpack. Hope that helps. Good luck.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 Great, thanks for info - very much appreciated!
Great Finds 👍
Looks like a great permission congratulations
Haven't been lucky enough to do the gold dance yet this year. Hopefully soon 🫰
As for hand tools, i use a hori hori knife, cold steel trench shovel, seldom use a pinpointer unless the ground needs to be kept nice, i use a tool poach now with nail apron but have my eyes on a purpose built poach. Small spray bottle, no probe yet but may carry one for needed applications. I like the bucket idea but not sure about carrying it around. I find some purpose built stuff for metal detectors to be ok but overpriced, i always try to find alternatives.
Great points. Thx for sharing.
I am loving my deus pinpointer m16 worth the money 😊
Good to hear. Yes, love mine too!
Any issues with carrying the detector rods in your carry-on bag?
Never and I’ve traveled all over the world with them. 🤞
Lovely respectful video , some great finds there , seemed a great adventure..🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thx very much! Returning in August for 12 days. Can’t wait!!
@@TheHistoryDigger1 …Fantastic news
That's awesome Rob, you told me about this a few weeks ago, wow just wow
Thx buddy!
If you want or need a camera man I had just bought a camera for my ghost hunting stuff 😁

Great detector!! Skyline or Goldstar? ;)

Excellent video detailing a type of hunt that doesn't happen that much in England. Our gardens seem to be too full of trash, and even the more recent finds- Pre-Decimal pennies- are often dug so very deep that you wonder how many feet of earth you'd have to shift before you reached the really old stuff. Strange happenings in the building, but I could hear the roar of trucks going by...how close is the busy road? I remember doing an investigation in an older property where they complained of Poltergeist activity. At the bottom of the garden though was the railway, and the passing of the trains was shaking the foundations of the place so very gently, making things wobble off shelves over time, pictures would fall. Something to consider. The homeowner will have a lovely display of finds though, in a specially made case those items connected to the house will take pride of place! Great work.
Thank you Doug. Yes, very different from England. I am looking forward to the fall. I’ll be returning to Norfolk for a 12 day hunt!!
What settings do you run on your detector wild beach detecting fresh water?
It’s depends but I will normally just use a land setting like “park”. The beach settings are optimized for saltwater and heavy mineralization. Not necessary on fresh water beaches here.
@@TheHistoryDigger1 thanks
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure. Thx for watching
Awesome give back.
Thanks buddy!
I believe I saw you guys in oconomowoc a couple days ago! Awesome finds!
I own the Phoenix and ordered it with the Footpad and Sheath and it's my favorite detecting shovel ever.
Just came across this on CZcams. I hope you are still active.
I sure am!
Nice finds just subscribed. Purchased a ticket to Digstock X in Greenville for early December. Where did you stay.
I’ve stayed in my RV and an air B&B outside of Greenville. Believe they give some suggestions on their website under the FAQ section or it’s in their FB page.
Oh my God, the vest. Your epic dude nobody would bother you then.
lol. Thx.
Kneepads genius don’t know why I haven’t thought of this already
Thx!
I love the little digger got it. It’s perfect.
It’s a great, portable shovel!
Nice I am so glad you’re doing that and thanks for doing these videos. Can’t wait. I feel like I am a newbie all over again. I can’t figure out this metal detector I have.
Good luck!
First time watching you guys, good video. I think the piece you think may be a trigger mechanism looks like a common piece of "tack" during that time. As part of a leather buckle that laid flat. It's cool to be able to identify specific items like j hooks due to their unique design. Much of those rings could be tack from that era. Thanks
Thanks for the info
Thanks for sharing this with me rob!
👍
Where do you find all the events that you have been going too? Are they listed on a web sites or a certain magazine?
Checkout Digstockevents.com Also they’re promoted on several FB groups but here’s the main one I use. facebook.com/share/FWkNvrMsYgkHyFx8/?mibextid=K35XfP
Families sometimes followed after the soldiers. This may have been left by family members.
That’s a great insight. Much appreciated!
Good point
Rob this was my first vid of yours that I watched very tasteful video! Keep it up.
Thanks Mark. Glad you gave it a watch. If you enjoyed this one try my recent UK video. czcams.com/video/WaxfayQw8qQ/video.htmlsi=iNZBYR3Ac-9AMt2b

Thank you! Gracias!
Great video!!
Thx for watching Em!!❤️
Awesome trip congrats on the relics. Have you used your manticore much, I just got one but haven't had much time to play around with it yet. Just curious how you like yours in comparison to the deus 2
I haven’t used it that much yet. I hesitate to take a new machine with me on a great permission or a paid hunt. I have found the target trace ID to be very helpful but I still prefer the Deus ll’s audio and ergonomics to be superior.
@TheHistoryDigger1 i was leaning more towards buying the deus 2 but when minelab had the anniversary sale at 500 bucks off i jumped on it. Will most likely still get the deus at somepoint
@@shanehulburt5661 I may pick up the new M9 coil though. My buddy says it takes awhile to master but that the Manticore definitely has some pluses over the Deus ll, one of which is that it hits some deeper targets.
@TheHistoryDigger1 I'm definitely going to get the M9 coil, would definitely be nice in trashy areas for sure and thick areas in the woods
