OK I am seeing the DIY COmmunity say use 2 to three layers, you did it with one? What were your settings and did you use a UV Filter to help prevent UV Damage to your Lens Iris/Shutter? I had one of these I made with a Paint Can Lid for my S-Series 200mm Canon Lense in 2017, when we had a partial here in Texas. It worked great. Like you I am going to make a couple for my Cell Phones (time Lapse as well) and then I have a 10mp Mini Video Recorder (don't laugh, it is old but still working, lol). I want to make sure to get all the video I can as well as pictures. I may even rubber band my phone to a Mono/Binocular (I have both) with a DIY Filter on the lenses. That is why I am asking about the layers needed, we are getting totality here in the Dallas/Mesquite Area, more towards the center than some of the other large cities in Texas.

You need to shoot in 60fps and dump the footage into a 24fps timeline. Then click on the speed menu and select "Automatic Speed" thats the smoothest way out of camera for slow motion in FCPX with a regular camera.

11 year later and mine still works (not original battery) soo...I guess it was high quality for it's time...

The only way you get a blown out, washed out look facing the Lite Scoop directly at your subject is if you don't adjust your light power. That picture at 3:51 was obviously overexposed. And your light wasn't softer when you turned it slightly to the side, it's just darker and the light falls on your subject a little bit differently (this I like). You still needed to adjust your exposure to where it flatters her, though, no matter how you position the light. It's just a little lazy to say the light just blasts your subject when you face it head on to your subject without adjusting your exposure properly. Take your time with these tutorials.

I never know optical glow exist for over a decade, I like how simple it is for slight quality lose. twixtor does a better job, however, twixtor sometimes has a weird artifact.

I normally USE a Traditional Photo Light Meter, I do not trust Phone Apps, as it was one to one and half stop OFF Plus or minus, so what I use is the Minolta Auto Meter with the 10 degree viewer, and a 1947 GE Light Meter Model DW-68 as I use it both, and I compare them that they are at a half a stop Plus or Minus. And what is of Photo Shooters shooting with their cameras either Film, or Digital WITHOUT A UV PROTECTIVE FILTER!!??, Do you want to have your - well say if your shooting a lens that is worth $400 or Up lens, and all of sudden that your front element lens as the following: "Dust, A Blade of Grass, Fingerprints, and my favorite BUGS! and I do not mean the Rabbit, your lens is the most important item to use, and take photos, a Filter is the most important item to have to protect your lens. If you do not handle your lens properly, and treat it, and clean it that the front element coating will fade off, and the contrast, and colors Will alter your images when USE. Always clean your lens, and use a UV Filter... You either Pay Now or Pay LATER in repairs......

Very informative! I recently got myself a used A6300 (which was the cheapest way to get a 4k interchangeable lens camera and Sony quality) and didn't think the rolling shutter would be that bad until I encountered the issue myself. I agree that whip pans can be avoided and those aren't really part of my filming style, but where it shocked me a bit was filming out of a side window of a moving car... it's extremely noticeable there and post processing can't really fix it (because the tilt is different with distance - fix it in the front and the background tilts the other way ;). My workaround is to not use the A6300 for such shots, but actually my phone (Samsung S21), which has almost no rolling shutter problems at all... ;). But it's good information that with lower bitrate and 1080p (as well as higher frame rates) the problem is a bit more manageable...

the "worst" Fuji lens in terms of sharpness is the XF 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 And this is the sharpest APS-C super-zoom on the market right now, equivalents from Canon or Nikon are a good step behind. Honestly you can't fault Fuji glass, their lenses are always up to the task (you pay a little bit more, but hell is it worth it)

bought the app during lockdown last year and seriously, i am happy using it. i mostly shoots black and white films, sacrificed a roll of HP5 to see the result and so far the exposures are spot on.
