What I Picked Up At Bladeshow Atlanta 2023
i love the process of working metal, it's got kinda zen feel for me.
It's twisted into a fake Damascus.
Swords are not made that way. just a long knife It has no artistic value and cannot be called a sword.
You have some serious skills. That is a knife to be proud of. Hope you sold it for a very good price
Its still in my drawer somewhere. Im horrible at sales. I dont even offer or forget to set them up for sale. As soon as im done with one video im on to the next and forget about everything else.
9:05 don't worry about the length, the standard blade length for a katana is traditionally 24inches which is extremely short, most modern katana not produced in Japan are actually too long 😂
He forgot the chilli flakes
Awesome 😎 blade 👍👍
Thank you
Admirable work on the sword. Meaning no disrespect, please consider advice from someone who began training with katana in 1966, eventually in two schools, one of which has a genealogy going back prior to 1580. The katana cut is not like swinging a baseball bat. The left hand is on the kashira (pommel) with the ring and little finger under it. Also, the power of the cut is mostly from the left hand pulling toward the body or upward very slightly at the very end of the cut so that the cut is elliptical at the end rather than circular. Difficult to execute, the reason why training even in the basics takes years.
Из всякого 💩
Everything about this video from the thumbnail to the script is stolen from Alec Steel
You should check out my carbide tipped ball bearing hammer and complain that i stole it from BlackBeardProjects
That would make a great kitchen knife set
I agree
no talking please.
Go watch someone else
As soon as I see a "smith" trace a template and cut their blade out of a billet, I stop watching their video. You have all the tools and time to forge it to shape...
Heres a cookie 🍪 for your troubles, my friend.
Oh man... dude.. I clicked your name to go to your channel so I could see your epic knife making skills.. y'know, since you're criticizing other's and all.. and all your videos must've gotten taken down! You should definitely contact YT and find out why. Can't wait to see your videos of hand forging the steel into the desired knife shape. Let me know when I can see those.
"Don't judge, wearing sandals" I'm More worried about that tan line tbh XD
Im a mexican. I brown easily 🤣 plus i wear shorts daily and live in florida 😅
I'm also in Florida, I have flipflop tan lines lmao
@@lorrieleopard1072 only way to do it in florida
As an old guy, it's great seeing what can be done with power tools. Beat-up old blacksmiths would *love* a power press and metal saws.
The press is a life saver. I couldnt do half the things i do without it.
Dude, what? All that work and two seconds on the reveal? Respect your effort more! The concept is so very cool.
www.youtube.com/@Kuznica_Maria_Leonid
Very nice Wow 😎👍💯
Thank you
This looks like vergils missing demonic katana
F.Y.I. the coating is cadmium.
Thanks
Good video but FYI those are actually spring washers
my reciept said lock washers and so did the little box they were in
Damascus. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Zzzzzzzzzz
Оборудование хорошее, материалы хорошие, работа хорошая! Нож - жабокол говённый.
But, did it kill?
It made me bleed.
@@JPsBladeworks you are the Forged in Fire Champion!
Vid got shitty when he drew the profile n used the bandsaw.... I hate when knife makers do that.. it's a really shitty lazy job....
That's awesome, as always. Thank you for your work.
Thank you for watching
Just subscribed. Love the way you work and explain what you are doing without "over-explaining".
Thank you. I appreciate the support.
Знатное дерьмище. Ну да, так оно и есть,
the first pattern looks like alot of skull from handle to the blade and it looks so cool.
Thanks. Glad you liked it
Looks like cadmium coating.
Whats that?
Very cool knife my man
Thank you
Wow you destroyed the tang on that knife. There's zero reason to put that many holes in a tang period! Ridiculous dude
🍪
Hey man, I was really curious, where can we see examples of your work?
It's zinc plating, not gold or brass.
I was referring to the color. If it was gold, i would be doing other things with it
weak
Engineers will tell you that spring washers have exactly the opposite effect if you are looking for a locking feature. This is a good use for them.
We gotta use them somewhere 🫢
13:08 first time seeing someone surprised by his own editing lol
I edit it all then i voice over while watching. Its hard to get everything that comes to mind in a timely manner 😅
Man I wish I could afford a press, doing it by hand is so hard/tiring
It is a pretty hefty commitment. Even for me when i made mine and that was when materials where considerably cheaper than they are now. But it is great to have one around
Your portal opening days are over Give me the Yamato
Your work with that cannister was amazing I've never seen something like that before. And the pattern was great excellent job.
When you do as many canisters as i have you learn a trick or 2. It doesnt alway work out though 😅
Beautiful finished product!
Thank you
Just found your channel tonight. What a beautiful blade. Strong work!
Thank you
Great video.
Thanks
I love the random canister builds JP 👍👍 keep on keepin on homie. How you enjoying this Florida heat bro 😎 it was vicious today
Nothin much to it. Just felt like the sun was trying to sear the skin off your bones. It gets good in August 🔥
Hey would be to much for you to try a ten thousand layer Damascus katana just asking
Its possible but it would be a lengthy project. Not because if the damascus but because katanas have tons of parts to them. But its definitely something i would do once i can get a better shop and equipment.
Гровер-шайбы, сталь 65Г.
Maybe try to get a hold of some fordite, check it out it's pretty cool.
Ill look it up. Ive never heard of it.
Do you think it would be possible to forge a sword with a portion of powdered tungsten in the blade? Maybe concentrated in the center of the blade? Basically sintered tungsten using steel as the binder.
Ill be honest. I have no idea.
Wow, that turned out pretty fine blade!
Thanks
Which is the hardest type of steel to make a knife , sword etc ?
Not sure. All steels have their ups and downs. Straight ball bearings with no powder is really difficult. I havent been able to get that to work yet.
That is badass!
Its pretty fun
