Picking a lock while hanging upside down adds style points, I might have to give it a try! Luckily, I get to sport-pick in the comfort of a well lit, unconfined, cozy-temped room of my home 😆 If any given lock is sprung or isn’t gravity based, it’s functionally doesn’t change when the orientation is turned a different way. This lock is fully sprung. I find it more comfortable to pick EU locks with Bible up, mostly because that’s what I’m used to and have spent the most amount of my time practicing. Cheers!

Sometimes adding that extra tensioner is a necessary addition! Adds height to a pick, protects lock from being eaten away while picking, or stops pick from slipping off ledge.

Hey John! You’re gonna have a blast with your 4440! It looks like I’m using a mix of hooks from 2 different manufacturers, SouthOrd and Jimmy Longs. The SouthOrd pick is from the max line “SouthOrd Max” and I slid a sleeve over the handle for a tiny bit more grip. SouthOrd and Multipick hook profiles are very similar. Jimmy Longs is a 1 man show who has designed some incredible picks and ergo handles. Often selling out within minutes of batch release for dang good reason. @L0ckJocKey oh nice, I use southord as well but I haven't used their max version yet, I was contemplating on ordering some, perhaps next month! Just ordered a ton from southord recently to replace the old stuff. I've heard of jimmy long, and yes, he definitely sells out in minutes!!! I'm hoping to get some of his stuff in the near future. I just got my 4440 in today, I've been screwing around with it and yes... It looks like it will definitely be a fun lock! Hopefully I'll be posting a video on it in the near future.

Thanks! Slight bit of manual counter rotation on the spools needed. It’s the DOM barrels that really make you work! The brass heavy V cut follower has been a life saver for me and is my #1 preferred for gutting and reloading. It’s by Keedex EZ Loader. Until recently, it’s been the only of its kind @$50+, but someone showed me that Covert Instruments sells a copy (or the same one) for less than half the price. Check out covert instruments website and search ‘follower’. They sell that V groove ball bearing follower tweezer set for $25 right now.

Thank you! JimmyLongs hooks are my #1 preferred pick choice. They have been by far the most comfortable to use because of the handle design; strength and incredible feedback; the hook shape profiles from shallow to steep in both pointy/round and flat in the various gauges offered I can’t really turn back from. 100 % recommend.

Thanks! Was of the mellower locks I’ve picked in a while. Maybe they’ll add some plug or bible millings in their future GDS locks to increase pick resistance.

Very nice, congrats on that! DOM is a lock manufacturer, like Schlage or Kwikset. The driver pins you see in the video are OEM factory made pins, uniquely designed by DOM. Rattle snake (driver) pins is a nick name lock pickers gave to that style of driver pin. Often times, you will see challenge lock makers who will mimic the Factory Designed DOM rattle snake driver pins.

They are OEM! Right? The DOM S with circle on face of bible has them too. If you’d like to give one a whirl, let me know - I’d be happy to loan one to you!

Yes, much easier. I’m not sure there is an Assa 700 copy of equal or harder difficulty yet. The DC500 (brown belt) has same keyway, same pins, but the milling is very different and doesn’t interact with gin (bottom) section of Xmas tree drivers. GDS borrowed the Xmas trees and tapered drivers, but lacking matched plug milling and torpedo Keypins. Keyway is different too. Falls several steps below Assa 700 difficulty. Likely in range of Green’ish belt.

@L0ckJocKey From what I see I think that's usually the case when others start to borrow the design. I dunno myself though lol still a ways off from those! I'd say I'm a beginner green belt so far. Should be a comfortable green belt when I get a few more and practice a bit. I'm not in much of a hurry to exceed that for the moment though.

If you are in the green zone, I’d certainly say it’s within your abilities. Not a high tolerance lock and the pins speak pretty clearly. Everest is a fun one to try at green too!

Thank you man! The pinning tray is friggin beautiful work by hazzertous and rein 🤩. The F series KIK keyway is Schlage’s C keyway. Except the F series KIK has a section on the upper left side of keyway where it’s rounded out, I think to prevent efficient TOK tension. It’s possible your mortise and the F series are both C keyway, but I believe the Schlage reverse T-pins are exclusive to the F Series KIK cylinder w/ collapsible bible. The over milling seems to be random and I don’t think it’s as effective as it can be or was intended to be. I wanna say the feedback is mushy because the springs sit below shear. Super common lock in U.S., hope you get a chance to pick one!

Haha 😆 thanks man. F series is super common in the U.S. Can find at a restore/habitat for humanity for cheap, or hardware store in the F Series Knob if you ever want to give one a try. The reverse T-Pin drivers are specific to the F series KIK cylinder.
