Hi, I'm Claire! I'm a full-time travel blogger who focuses on overland journeys (planes, trains and boats are my jam), lesser touristy destinations and I also post about South West England, which is where I live. I split my time between the South West and travel, when I take my work with me on the road.
On this channel, expect vlogs from my different trips (including train, bus and boat vlogs), local tips for exploring South West England (I know Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Bristol really well) and travel tips and hacks that I've uncovered after travelling for six years, to over 60 countries - many of them solo.
I'm passionate about uncovering people's stories and love finding interesting, thought-provoking angles to destinations around the world - but I also don't take myself too seriously and love injecting a dash of humour into my videos.
Do stick around, hit the subscribe button, and drop me a comment!

Is this the UK's WILDEST festival? (Up Helly Aa, Shetland)
In this video, I go to Up Helly Aa in Bressay on Shetland.
Shetland has Nordic culture and traditions and Up Helly Aa reflects this!
This is a Viking festival in Scotland with a fire procession, burning of a ship and lots of Island Dancing after!
It's supposed to banish winter and welcome Spring.
It's definitely one of the best things to do in Shetland if you're visiting in February or March!

In this video, I take an overnight ferry from Aberdeen to Shetland and review the experience. I quite enjoyed the Scotland to Shetland boat, although it was a bit bumpy! But if you're wondering how to get to Lerwick, it's the cheapest option (flights to Shetland are expensive). I was spending one week in Shetland for Up Helly Aa - videos to come! Hi Claire I'd just like to point out that not all of the Asian part of Turkey is Anatolia as it also includes Northern Mesopotamia and the Armenian Highlands (of which Kars and Van are part) Nowadays it is Turkish state policy to rebrand the Armenian Highlands as 'Eastern Anatolia' and Northern Mesopotamia as 'Southeastern Anatolia' but checking out the Wikipedia page on Anatolia will give you the factual borders I know your channel is just travel focused but unfortunately this region has a dark history which cannot be ignored
i used the Hrossey in 2018 and 2019, the northsea was calmer than a bathtub

From all the visitors you are the only one who said that you've been kinda hassle, witch I'm very surprised...normally i never happened..
yeah I did get a bit of hassle on my own, not constantly and didn't happen when I was with my partner but unfortunately there was a little!
Good video! I recommend signing up for the Eurostar email subscription because they frequently have flash sales on routes. That can save you significant money. For the London-Paris route, you’re fine with the lowest tier of ticket. It’s a fairly quick ride and the seats are pretty comfortable, so you don’t really NEED to upgrade. Bring a book or watch a movie on your device. If it’s a longer ride, splurge for a higher tier. Bring your own food because their food isn’t very impressive. Don’t play around with the departure times. They leave on time. In fact, my Paris to London train left about five minutes earlier than the departure time on my ticket.
thanks for the comment! haha yes I always make sure I'm there super early. Yes I see what you mean about the London to Paris ride. It was super speedy. Thanks for the tip regarding emails, I'll do that now as planning to get the eurostar again later in the year. :)
I was in Georgia. Last July.. ( Tbilissi and Batumi ) and I can't wait to go back . Its such a beautiful country.. and the people are amazing. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us
It's wonderful isn't it! Glad you loved it as well!
It says no captions. What happened to Shetland?
Thanks for letting me know, I'm still getting to grips with shorts! Just shared my ferry video of Shetland yesterday and will have my Up Helly Aa video on Saturday :) I wasn't able to edit long form as much as I wanted while I was in Nepal so saved them for when I get back!
Watched the ferry yesterday.
What did you pay for the transport from the hotel to the border?
There is any store to buy vegan products in batumi or an online store to buy vegan products in georgia?
Congratulations
Hi, I'm planning my trip to the UK next month (May 10th to May 18th), and I found your video very informative. Thank you for sharing the link and the code. I have a question: I'm 36 years old and feeling a bit confused about obtaining a railcard for train travel in the UK. I'm going to be staying in the UK and intend to use trains for traveling around. Could you please help me by sharing which railcard I need to purchase, where I can get it, and how I can use it to get discounts? My main travel destinations are the Cotswolds, Scotland, Oxford and, if possible, Wales. Could you also advise me on how to book these travel journeys, which travel card I need to purchase for discounts, and how I can make my trip as budget-friendly as possible? Additionally, I'm interested in using the sleeper train to Scotland-do you have any tips on how I can make this journey as budget-friendly as possible? I have one more question. I'm planning to travel to the Cotswolds, and I'm wondering if, during my journey to Scotland, I can stop by and take a train from any nearby Cotswold train station? Or do I need to take the night sleeper train only from London? Thank you for your assistance.
Glad you liked the video! Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away in Nepal. So if you're travelling with someone you could get the "two together" railcard, or a network railcard if you're travelling alone. Network railcard won't cover all the routes but does cover London and the South East. To travel from Oxford to London I recommend the Oxford Tube (it's a bus). It only takes 90 minutes without traffic and it's much cheaper than the trains. You could also look at National Express or Megabus for some routes. For the sleeper train to Scotland, unfortunately the only way to make it budget friendly would be to just have a seat and not a cabin! But if you're travelling with someone it might be cheaper than how much I paid. The sleeper train doesn't stop in England and as far as I know the trains to Scotland don't go through the Cotswolds, so you'll need to travel London - Cotswolds - somewhere like Cheltenham Spa or Gloucester - Scotland. hope that helps!
I took night riviera to Penzance as well, and it was great! This video reminds me of that time. Thank you very much! Good job😀

Hi, I think it's more safer then walking in London St, my name is Claire as yours ,I leaved in algeria for 10 years, never had an issue whatsoever. To be honest I felt in love with algeria❤.thank you for your video anyway 🎉🎉
In some ways it definitely is! I did just get a bit of unwanted attention but I definitely felt like there was less crime overall in Algiers. I loved Algeria :)
Don't be afraid of flying because, there's a 1in 3,000,000,000 chance of a crash and the FAA checks all planes before they can fly and if they are not safe then they scrap them
Thank you! Yes I have a huge phobia of flying but I know it's statistically much safer than many other things. Hoping now I've pushed myself out my comfort zone I'll find it easier 😊
Luklaaaaaa
yes!
Dramatic you aren’t gonna die. The pilots are experienced 💀
Ever heard of a phobia?
tbh landing in lukla has to go on my bucket list.
haha my friends enjoyed it too!
thats a twin otter, they can land really fast.
Yes it dealt with the runway really well! I didn't know much about these planes so that's good to know 😀
Her: I'm so scared of flying! Also her: Hiking to Mount Everest is easy!
I was hiking base camp and never said it was easy 😂
@@ClairesFootsteps But you made climbing mt everest look like a joke 💀
How did I do that? 😂
@@ClairesFootsteps because you casually mentioned hiking everest but made landing on Lukla a bigger deal
@@thisredbrick2002 again, it's base camp which is very different to Everest itself! But I never ever said it was easy, i just have a huge phobia of flying but could look at the hike more objectively.
Hope you had fun adventuring!!! ❤❤❤

Sleep
No you don’t have to! Like you don’t have to leave litter and human waste all over the mountain, like you don’t have to risk the lives of Sherpas for your own pathetic egos.
Everest BASE CAMP, not Everest! 😅 I picked up all my trash + more, the trail brings a lot of tourist money to the area & doesn't risk anyone's life. I do see your points in terms of climbing to the SUMMIT of Everest but PLEASE read the text on the screen before leaving comments like this as you're talking about a completely different thing!
Lukla💀💀
I tried to fly in there in my stream.. let's say that did not go well..

thankyou, I loved Algeria :)

Don’t be stressed because there are flying planes like DHC-6 that you flew on and that’s good small plane and in msfs and in real life this plane can stop fast
Was this better than thr Night Riviera sleeper? I'm going on that next month and can't wait
I preferred the Night Riviera :)
@@ClairesFootsteps great. I'll be doing the Caledonian sleeper someday.
Wow! How did it go?
As a nepali who likes planes I can confirm its not that bad
It's not that bad usually means it's bad
as somebody who likes planes that landing genuinely concerned me. Ryanair got s new competitor 💀
The town of Lukla, Tenzing Hillary Airfield (often referred to as Lukla Airport).

In what way? Was it hard? No, it looked like a normal landing considering the airport.
That wasn’t hard wtf r u on
Lukla is… lets say special
More on the Hallgrimskirkja…the outside decor is based of the look of the basalt columns formed by volcanic activity. And, in the Thor movies by Marvel, the look of the central building on Asgard is fashioned after this church.

Bem gurion airport: i exist 😂
I think your priorities on what will and wont kill you are a lil skewed
You can be an anxious flier whilst also knowing it won't kill you, plus the Everest BASE CAMP trail isn't particularly dangerous (although I'm anxious about parts of it too)
