  • In this video, I explore Kars, one of the easternmost cities of Turkey and somewhere with Georgian, Russian and Armenian influences. We visit the following places:
Bogatepe Village - where they make Kars cheese
Kars Castle - which dates back to the Medieval era
Kumbet Mosque - a church that was converted into a mosque in the 11th century
Pushkin Restaurant - a famous eatery in town
Ani - the ruins of a Medieval city
Lake Cildir - a frozen lake where you can go on a sleigh ride
I stayed at the Kars Konak Hotel (affiliate link)

    Hi Claire
I'd just like to point out that not all of the Asian part of Turkey is Anatolia as it also includes Northern Mesopotamia and the Armenian Highlands (of which Kars and Van are part)
Nowadays it is Turkish state policy to rebrand the Armenian Highlands as 'Eastern Anatolia' and Northern Mesopotamia as 'Southeastern Anatolia' but checking out the Wikipedia page on Anatolia will give you the factual borders
I know your channel is just travel focused but unfortunately this region has a dark history which cannot be ignored
