- I spent one week in Shetland, which are islands north of Scotland that have strong links to Norway and Denmark.
I checked out all of the best places to visit in Shetland, including Lerwick, Bressay (for Up Helly Aa), Scalloway, Sumburgh, Yell and Unst.
I saw the best things to do in Lerwick, some lovely Shetland beaches (although it was too windy to enjoy them!), saw Viking longhouses on Unst and both of the only two castles in Shetland.
I also explored Shetland's Nordic heritage, learning how it has Scandinavian influences from its history with the Northern Europe region.

Stayed in the lerwick hotel just before the pandemic kicked off. Shetland is our new best place in the world. We just jumped on the local buses, you get more feel for a place doing that. Every corner you went round opened up a new vista. Stunning, wild, pure air, miles of open space and the local people make this place magnificent. If you want sun and beach life, which i have done, then dont come here. If you want a change then you will love shetland
Good evening wow. Beautiful and enjoyable views for peace of mind. thank you.
it's a beautiful place!
Well, the Shetland Council has tabled a resolution that should ever the Scots become independent, they're having none of it.!!
And steps have been taken to counteract any such possibility.
I won't go into it all here, because - how long have you got ?
You can always get an historical record of such developments on line, a lot of which you probably already know.
Shetland Council have done no such thing.
Thats BS
If you want to sound more "Scandi" try going metric.
I'm not personally worried about sounding Scandi haha, I use both metric and imperial like most people in the UK
It sounds like someone asked a local what's the name of this place. He responded it's Shitland- then the guy checked with him Shetland? He said, Aye
