How did the ancients transport heavy stone blocks? Experiment | Serious Science

How did ancient cultures manage to move heavy stone blocks to build their majestic monuments? This question comes up in the comments under every video we put out on majestic monuments of the past, megaliths, dolmens, pyramids, fortresses, and temples. I want to know what UAP's are Scientists against myths. Since you focus on how alien technology is not responsible for the creation of anything, can you please explain what UAP's are? Your own government (whether russian or US or chinese) doesn't know what they are, nor do they have an explanation for the Nimitz 2004 case, nor do they know why they have been seen in greater number since the detonation of nuclear weapons. You make jokes in every video, but you don't address the reality of our situation: there are UFO's and UAP's in our sky's, while you are joking about the impossibility of aliens playing any part in the construction of anything. You seem to be blind to this development, which undermines the entire premise of your youtube channel--that science can explain everything.

    Half remembered from my childhood (i'm talking late 70's or early 80's) A UK TV special was looking into how they built Stonehenge and moved the heavy stones? They came to the conclusion that the sledge running on wooden rails lubricated with water and fish guts was the most efficient way of moving such heavy loads. The thinking is thus: Most of the journey was done by river barges (especially the Welsh blue stones, no other transport method makes sense), most such sites, well in the Uk anyway, are near rivers, fish guts are a waste product, that workforce needs to be fed and there is significant evidence fish was big in their diet. Using that idea, they were able to reduce the number of people pulling vs wooden rollers by a factor of at least 4, we are talking about reducing the number of "pullers" from something like 200 to about 50. Maybe worth a try? Of course this is half remembered from like 40 years ago and change, I may have recalled this very imperfectly?

    Absolute bollocks to even begin with!! That isn’t black granite they are carving! Solid dead black granite doesn’t have white dust or at any point look grey or white!!!!!!!!!! I’m a dentist and try to cut pure black granite with a tungsten carbide drill turning 100,000 revs per min and my drill bit goes almost white hot and either breaks or cuts a tiny inward circle!!!!! I can prove this with video as I do for conversational points of fun with patients. Tung carbide is the hardest metal known to mankind! If I grind teeth with steel it’s blunt within 6 patients! With tung carbide it lasts 3yrs cutting 25 patients per day to give an example of how hard! This video is utter nonsense!!!! Cutting granite more over with copper is literally like cutting glass with a banana!!!! The ancient Egyptians cut pure black granite massive statues with copper or as they did in this video???? How even did they carve perfectly mathematically identical symbols in black pure granite?? Like this video?? Get lost,,,,,,, keep trying and try it yourselves,,,, buy a dremmel drill from your DIY store (very bad drill compared to dental) and a tungsten carbide drill bit and go to a beach or place you can find pure boulder of pure black granite and try it yourself and watch this crap again! I challenge any person to do this and then think for yourself and dream!!!!!!!!!!!

      @varyolla435 Před 2 dny

      Yes is was feasible. Bear in mind one thing however. Most of Egyptian and other construction was limestone - which is not terribly hard. That was owing to its' ubiquity and ease of working. Thus you can certainly "saw" limestone - but it is easier to simply chisel out something to shape using either bronze chisels - or gneiss stone ones. There are examples in Egypt showing whereby they were hammering something into shape and abandoned it prior to completion - usually because the Pharaoh in question died and the workers moved onto other things. There are chisel tracts on blocks found on pyramids as well. Moral: to obtain basic shapes on hard stone like granite then gneiss stone tools like Flint or Dolerite pounders would be used. The object then could be sanded smooth using an abrasive medium. "Sawing" something was certainly possible - if time consuming. So they probably did not do a lot of sawing as much as using the other mechanism of hammerstones + firesetting to "soften" the stone + and sometimes bronze tool. Remember however that by the New Kingdom period - when you see a lot of granite use - while the Egyptians did not smelt iron = others did. It is therefore possible that some iron tools made their way to Egypt and after the Persian period when the Egyptians also began to smelt iron then they would have become commonplace. Have a nice day.

    'There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.' - Socrates Religions promote ignorance and are therefore EVIL. Science adds to human knowledge and is therefore GOOD. *WE LIVE IN A WORLD MADE POSSIBLE BY SCIENCE.* We know that in the thousands of years that religions controlled the minds of men, few children lived to see their fifth birthday. All religions could do is offer solace, nothing more. "It was God's will" grieving parents were told. In the last 400 years, science has vastly improved the lives of billions of people worldwide. In just the last 100 years it had doubled the average human lifespan. Religion makes empty promises, science delivers. No religion has made any lasting impact on humanity. Science is a search for truth and truth is established by EVIDENCE, not by what anyone says. Science proceeds from evidence to a conclusion which is PROVISIONAL (a hypothesis). As additional evidence comes to light in support of that hypothesis, so does the certainty it is correct. when all evidence supports a conclusion and none refutes it, it can become a Scientific Theory, which in science is the highest degree of certainty possible. Religion, however, operates not on evidence, but on FAITH; belief in the absence of evidence. Religion is a 'Belief System' NOT a 'Truth System'. Religions must convince their followers that FAITH is more important than EVIDENCE; because without faith, every religion would disappear. If your religion has convinced you that 'faith', belief in the absence of evidence, is in any way superior to evidence-based science, then you have subordinated your intellect to that of ancient goat herders.

    Science is built on facts, much like a house being built of bricks. But a pile of bricks is not a house and a collection of facts is not science. They become science only after being assembled into a coherent explanation of observed phenomena that is a Scientific Theory. Science isn't about beliefs, it's about testable and falsifiable hypotheses and theories. And first and foremost about evidence. Science provides the only reliable way to determine what is true or not true about the universe. It has not yet answered all the questions, but is the only methodology that has the capacity to do so. Truth is established by EVIDENCE, not by what anyone says. Science proceeds from evidence to a conclusion, which is always PROVISIONAL (a hypothesis). As further evidence accumulates supporting that conclusion, so does the certainty that it is correct. At some point, the accumulated evidence becomes so great that it would be perverse to deny it and it may be regarded as a Scientific Theory. A THEORY IN SCIENCE IS THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF CERTAINTY POSSIBLE. That is true of Germ Theory, Atomic Theory, Theory of Gravity, Theory of Evolution, Heliocentric Theory, Theories of Relativity, et al. They are explanations for observed phenomena and are backed by massive amounts of evidence. Evolution is a FACT or rather a vast collection of facts. The explanation for how it happened is called the Theory of Evolution. It is a SCIENTIFIC THEORY. All available evidence supports that theory and none refutes it. No one knows for sure HOW life originated. There are two schools of thought on the matter; one that is was the product of supernatural intervention, for which there is zero evidence. The other is that it came about by natural molecular combination (Abiogenesis), for which there is SOME, but inconclusive evidence. For that reason, Abiogenesis remains in the realm of _Hypotheses._

  • @RandallWilks
    @RandallWilks Před 4 dny

    Since creationists have no evidence to support the mythology that is the basis of their world view, their frustration leads them to lie and slander those informed by logic, reason, and evidence. Invariably, they have been indoctrinated by parents who were likewise indoctrinated. Rather than evidence-based science, they were threatened with eternal punishment if they did not blindly accept religious dogma. Beliefs exist in the human mind and cannot be distinguished from delusions. Since those beliefs were not reasoned into their childhood mind, there is little likelihood they can be reasoned out of them. They are doomed to suffer cognitive dissonance.

    *WHAT THE BIBLE TELLS US* 1. You can own slaves. You can buy and sell slaves. You can even sell your own daughter (Exodus 21:7-10). If she fails to please her master, you must refund him the purchase price. 2. You can beat the living shit out of your slaves without being punished, as long as they do not die within two days (Exodus 20:20-21). Under what standards of morality is it ever okay to beat another human being like that and not suffer any consequences? It is reassuring the bible endorses property rights, but a source of morality it is not. 3. The bible not only condones slavery but sets prices for them (Leviticus 27:3-7). The bible obviously was concerned about human traffickers getting a fair price for their goods. 4. Surely Jesus had compassion towards slaves. He tells slaves to be obedient and subservient. That is why slave owners in the Americas pushed Christianity onto their slaves and punished those caught practicing their ancient religions.. Very reassuring. It was okay to beat slaves, those who unwittingly made mistakes were to be given few lashes, those who knowingly violated rules were to be given many lashes. 5. Thou shalt not kill. Now THERE is a good one. However, it seems there are exceptions: No sooner had Moses returned from his first trip up the mountains to find a party in progress to which he had not been invited, in a fit of rage he orders his Levite goon squad to kill "every man his brother, and every man his friend and every man his neighbor." Exodus 32:28 "The Levites did as Moses commanded and that day about 3000 of the people died." 'Tough Love' maybe? 6. But there are others. The bible requires the faithful to put to death by stoning; Adulterers (Deuteronomy 22:23-24, Leviticus 20:10); Homosexuals (Leviticus 20:13), Non virgins (Deuteronomy 22:20-21), any of your neighbors foolish enough to mow their lawn on the Sabbath (Exodus 31:12-15,Exodus 35:1-3,Numbers 15:32-36). 7. Oh, and speaking of rape, surely that ranks high on the Thou shalt nots of the ten commandments. *NO???* It is not even mentioned??? An oversight perhaps? But then it was so important to forbid mixing fabrics or cooking a kid in its mother's milk (so important that it needed to be repeated three times) and such. Take a look at these REALLY important commandments (there are different versions within the bible). Thou shalt not: Worship other gods Work on the Sabbath (death penalty crime) Take the name of the lord in vain (OMG, ANOTHER capital crime) Make graven images Covet thy neighbor s wife or house or ass And, oh yes, thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal are in there somewhere near the bottom. *But rape? Not one word!!!* How about elsewhere in the bible? Surely the bible must condemn it somewhere? Oh, yes, here; Deuteronomy 22:28-29 28 "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives" *YESSS! There it is. Rape is a PROPERTY crime*. The rapist has damaged the father s PROPERTY and it is he that must be compensated. What justice for the victim of the rape? She has to marry her rapist. Surely she lived happily ever after, no? And what if they were not discovered and the girl kept quiet out of fear? The bible is quite clear about the fate of girls who are not virgins on their wedding day. Here, as elsewhere in the bible, women are chattel and have no say in their future. 8. The bible endorses mass murder and sex slavery. Numbers 31:14-18 "14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds who returned from the battle. 15 Have you allowed all the women to live? he asked them. 16 They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident so that a plague struck the Lord's people. *17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."* Numbers 31:35 - "And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him." *THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND VIRGINS* being divided up to be used by God's chosen people at the same time their mothers and brothers by the tens of thousands were being slaughtered like animals. Many of those women would have been pregnant, their unborn fetus dying inside them. And what would have been the crime of young boys of whatever age? 2? 4? 10? There was no distinction about age. This was GENOCIDE, condemned by civilized nations of the world. If you fail to feel a deep sense of moral outrage at this, how do you condemn ISIS for doing far less? Genocide in whatever form is an ugly stain on humanity. To claim it to be a moral act is the ultimate evil. Why then, should you regard the bible as a moral guide? Is ISIS any less evil? So what response do we hear from zealots? Shock? Horror? No! Their predictable response is indifference and a callous "They had it coming to them". We have heard those words echoed by unrepentant Nazis and the barbaric ISIS. And how does that equate to morality? Are not empathy and compassion the cornerstones of morality? Where then is there any morality here? Perhaps it was just an oversight that the bible nowhere condemns slavery, rape, or molesting children, yet it was so important to forbid mixing fabrics or cooking a kid in its mother's milk (so important that it needed to be repeated three times). What does that say about biblical priorities? The bible has a special message for women: "STFU", but it can be a source of pride for women that apparently not a single one of them participated in the writing of the bible. Mark Twain once said "It ain't the parts of the bible I don't understand that bother me, it's the parts I DO understand.

It is laser perfect on all corners and sides, and has been measured by experts using lasers.

    Creationism offers NO insights into biology as it is based, not on evidence, but on the fairy tales in the bible. The Theory of Evolution does offer insights into biology as it is based on evidence. Dr Neil Shubin used the Theory of Evolution to understand a likely place for a transitional species between fish and tetrapods and spent several summers in the high Canadian Arctic and found exactly what he was seeking, the fossil species Tiktaalik. Creationism cannot do this because it is FALSE.

    I was hoping you would discuss the location that Dr. Joel Klenck says is the ark. He says on one of his websites: "It is 100% certain that the prehistoric site, dating to the Late Epipaleolithic Period (13,100 to 9,600 BC), from 3,900 to 4,700 m above sea level, in the southern gorge of greater Mount Ararat, is Noah's Ark." There is a vast amount of wood at that site, and several people has photographed and videotaped it.

Why do antibiotics need to kept up do date with micro organisms if they don’t evolve? How do you explain ring species? Where can I find a single example of a non-transitional fossil? Why does DNA show that some species are more distantly related than others? Why have there been three new variations of American Goatsbeard flowers if macro evolution doesn’t happen? Why do we have vomeronasal organs despite not using pheromones? Where did we get chromosome 2 and cytochrome B from? Levers. If you are removing "blocks" of stone from a quarry and you quarry down lower than the level of what will be your blocks then upon fracturing the blocks free* from the bedrock you can with the insertion of levers = move it laterally onto a sled you have placed next to its' base. Moral: there is a photo online showing one of the areas of quarrying at Giza. It does not reveal directly side by side blocks. It rather shows what are the remaining raised bases of blocks save for = there is some distance between them - enough for workers to have gotten in between the block and the bedrock wall to push/pull/lever upon it. * - if you drive lines of long chisels into limestone bedrock at perpendicular angles then as the chisel is hammered in after a short distance = the stone will begin to split along your lines not unlike snapping off a saltine cracker. Then if you created holes for the insertion of wooden levers your block can be pried loose. There is a video here called: Arnaldo Costa Stonemason Extraordinaire. It shows the technique whereby an old man using chisels and a sledgehammer quickly fractures a block of granite into 2 clean halves.

    Okay, there was a catastrophic flood that swept across northern Africa. All the signs are there. It was never a planetwide flood, but it was the whole world as some saw it. But I think its more likely that the gopherwood ark was disassembled and repurposed. It will not be found on Mt Ararat because it no longer exists.

      🤣🤦 Mistake #1 = assuming the Ark myth as supposedly real and hence all that follow are merely assumptions built upon that initial assumption. I invite you to learn about = Occam's Razor...... Mistake #2 = silly facile rationalizations about purported "use" to try to sidestep the problem of no remaining evidence of your supposed wood. I invite you to do a simple Google search = how high is Mt. Ararat.......... You see once you get above the treeline at high altitudes things do not merely not grow = they do not degrade as well owing to the cold and low oxygen environments. Mt. Ararat at its' upper levels has perpetual snow........ it is above the 10K level and coincidentally I have been around that height before on top of mountains. Even in summer it is cold and becomes uncomfortable unless you are acclimatized to the environment. Moral: it does not matter if the Ark if real was disassembled and the wood supposedly repurposed as any structures like the Ark itself would have become = petrified in that environment....... Remember that per the myth the water did not instantly recede. Thus never mind the reality that to be at the level of the heights of Mt. Ararat would mean the Ark was waaaay up in the atmosphere in a lower oxygen environment such as should have made living "uncomfortable" for all. Focus only on the reality that when the Ark ran aground it would have still taken a long time for the water to disappear and hence any structures would still be on the mountain if it were true = except they are not. The Ark myth cannot be plausible for a myriad of reasons absent of course "magic" such as the religious hysterics always try to fall back upon.
