Stegosaurus in Cambodia. Debunking a Forbidden Artifact

  • In the temple of Ta Prohm, located near the city of Siem Reap in Cambodia, tourists often get dumbstruck by a mysterious artifact. One of the carvings on the temple wall looks like a stegosaurus, a reptile that became extinct dozens of millions of years ago.
So, are we to believe that a real stegosaurus roamed the jungles of southeast Asia only a few hundred years ago? Or is the temple itself millions of years old?
Alexander Sokolov, editor of "Scientists Against Myths", decided to take a closer look at the oopart.

You should listen to arguments from many sources.
Though these people are very good at some issues they are very unscientific on others.
Notice how they mock and lie about people with a hypothesis that might not been established or proven.
Like if someone speculate about the origin of Atlantis they make a video about how everyone who search for it believes in space aliens and take drugs.
They would've said the same things about those who searched for a real Troy, which is now proven to have existed.
They said the same about those who argued that civilization must be at least 10.000 years old. Now that's proven too.
This video I think they are right about. When they say that Atlantis never existed I say I don't know. I really don't care either but I think it's interesting when we figure out new things about our past and I'm not against people searching for it or have new ideas.

As I explained in other comment, Stegos weren't native to Cambodia. That would explain the lack of other sources depicting them. However, they were native to China. The most distinguishable part of them, visible even in a fossil, are the plates. When the Chinese discovered the fossil, they described it as a "large, rhino-like animal" to the Cambodians, who associating it with living evidence, basically drew a rhino with plates.

I am a creationist. The angled view from the left looks even more like a Stegosaurus! However, I also believe that we shouldn’t accept or discard the carving as a particular animal without a thorough analysis.

It doesn't look like a stegosaurus from any angle

What’s funny is the artist could have been looking at an anteater when he sculpted it! I agree that some art is to interpretive to stand as evidence for something and this is no proof of any particular animal.

The other carvings along the pillar have leaves in the background.
If it's a stegosaurus, why does it look nothing like a stegosaurus?

@@danielwadding8642 have you ever seen a stegosaurus fossil? This carving looks nothing like one.
The head is too big, the neck is too short, the "plates" along the back are the wrong shape, size, and orientation, the tail droops down instead of sticking outwards, the body is the wrong shape, the legs are the wrong heights, and its missing the thing its known for. The tail spikes.
Also, that's not how search engines work. *Google* doesn't say anything, it leads you to websites that say things. In your case, websites made by people who also don't know what a stegosaurus looks like
