    Argh, I'm even more confused now. I have 19mm internal width rims (Giant SLR1) designed for 25mm tyres. I wanted to try 28mm for the comfort benefits, rolling resistance should be about the same. Hookless aside, I'm 70kilos and had no issue running 25mms for 10000km now at 80 psi. I want to go 28mm so I can drop the pressure a bit but seems like aerodynamics wise, I will be penalised ... What would you buy if you were me? :D

    Hey, hope you'll see the comment on this old video. Thinking about bying used Trinity advanced SL for bargain price, but the wheels there (although carbon) are shite and very old tubulars. What are the rim width clearance? Would it be possible to squeeze 28 mm external width rims and regular swiss stop pads without rubbing?

    • @PeakTorque

      Yes should be absolutely no problem there is a lot of clearance

    Love my 2017 Trinity! It’s an absolute rocket ship and handles like a road bike, but the one thing that always bothered me about it is that the angle of the base bar is tilted slightly downward and isn’t adjustable. Beyond that, I wouldn’t change anything… Btw, disc brakes on a TT bike is absurd and shows just how far bullshit can take you. Disc for dirt, rim for road…iykyk!

    For me it'll be about how much difference in cost there is... If Giant can come in at there usual superb value I will definitely get one, if they go like many others have and smash the price past 10 k it'll be a massive no

  • @dhanso928
    @dhanso928 Před dnem

    Good points, all. I don't agree that it's sketchy to bond metal and carbon properly though. It's done correctly in the marine sector and Colnago has done it for years. I did have a Trek with galvanic problems but Trek isn't my idea of a top-line brand but more like a high quality but "sell lots" brand. One-piece bar-stem hidden control connection front ends are a bad joke, though they look cool and are very prominent when you see a new style aero bike. They are just stupid when it comes to actually living with a bike. Exceptionally more difficult to work on and impossible to refine the rider fit. Proprietary parts that are hard to source and may not be available. The disc brakes being crammed down us..rim brakes NLA, silly! And only electric shifting? I get it that servo-motors are probably more profitable for the bike industry than a mechanical system, and easy to "sell" as an "improvement" but in my experience I've seen many many rides called off or aborted by electric shifting while in the past, I rarely encountered riders not riding because their mechanical system wasn't working. All in all, I enjoyed your Tube and I hope the bike brands start to get real again rather than whining and hand-wringing over us not buying the latest heavy expensive silly bikes they insist are "Good progress" Except

    I have a Speed Concept rim brake. While I think it's insanely fast and I'm not very interested in disc brakes on my TT bike, yeah.... the brakes suck to set up an maintain. Not a design I'm sad to see go.

  • @PaulUsypchuk
    @PaulUsypchuk Před 2 dny

    So I've owned aluminum (Cannondale 6/13), carbon (Trek Emonda SLR9) and a titanium (Guru Preamio Preformsnce) and I can say out of all three the Ti bike rides best, and provides ne with the best tactile response. (By the way, I've ridden each bike for literally thousands of km.. my average day ride (do it about two to three times a week) is 100+km So take all the calculations you want, but hands down Titanium for my un-scientific opinion is the ultimate best. By the way, back in the day, I've also owned steel (Raligh Professional Racing). The steel frame was a Reynolds 531 double butt.. best of the best in its day (although Columbus was its steel equivalent).. and I also loved steel. So if I was rate best to worse invthe frames I've owned 1. Titanium (Dura Ace mechanical, Arolus, 2. Carbon (Dura Ace Di2 on one Mechanical on the other, Arolus) 3. Steel Campagnolo Nova Record, aluminum Tublar rims) 4. Aluminum(Campagnolo Record, Campagnolo aluminum clinchers)

    I'd be really surprised if there isn't some kind of adapter for significant basebar vertical adjustment. Looks like 35s will fit on this - awesome. Agree on 2 bolt mono riser ... and I wouldn't be confident Giant have got it right - I have a feeling you might be selling a lot of adapters.

    Glad to see they’ve retained the distinctive Trinity geometry. Only thing I don’t like is the fact that the the rear side of the lower section of the seat tube is not concentrically parallel to the wheel (like on the current rim brake model)…

  • @marius-wodtke
    @marius-wodtke Před 2 dny

    Sorry, I cant wrap my head around a 32mm tire on a disc wheel. Certainly they are still designed for skinny tires. Or isn't the separation from the bulge not a concern with discs, because the flow stabilizes due to the lack of a hole in the wheel?

    Never understand why the steering geo on tt bikes is so steep. Not like there've been any high profile tt crashes... As for bi7ching about Trinity rim brakes, unless you've worked on the rim brakes/front end of a BMC Timemachine, you are but a grasshopper! Oh, I've got a bolt left over... probably not important.

    Could they have not done a floating rear caliper to allow for sliding dropouts? Suzuki were doing this on GSXRs back in the 90s ETA; all motorbikes have a solution for this to allow for chain tension adjustment. Missed opportunity from Giant.

    Looks like Giant have kept distinctive traits. May not have innovated much but a) having wider tyres with skinnier seat post = greater comfort b) brakes are an upgrade c) UCI deeper front end means it looks like frame will be slightly faster. Interesting point on the two bolts and be great in time to hear of those bolts have been isolated. Overall a solid update on a great bike. The Giant set up is quick even by world tour level standards … is there info on the price yet?
