I did have a couple of Brownian motion escapades when the motor would cut out unexpectedly, especially on my way down into a cut, no steering, brakes, and no way to hold it in place easily, this was a great quick fix for me

Hi there! I have very little in the way of operations manuals, however I have e managed to locate a number of parts manuals, currently my blocker is the taper bushing between the pump and the Deutz motor driveshaft.

the tape method? hahah i did end up getting the replacement and putting that in, was $100 moneys from BMW though.. 😞

it was the source of a major oil leak over the back of the engine and down into the gearbox bell housing, (and might even have ended up with some oil on the clutch....) but the worst bit was if I was at the lights or stationary, oil out the breather would get onto the exhaust, and push burnt oil out from under the bonnet, and back into the cab... this pipe was broken since my DPF issue at 66,000kms, finally figured it out when chasing down the oil leak

Ahhh so this is interesting the new clutch I got didn't have the adjustable bit in the clutch but I do have access to the preload tool but in this case didn't need to use it but I will always use it as I've seen what effect it has

i've got a calibration certificate from '99 that is likely not in date, but it works good enough for most applications :-)

@@Peter_Nottle have no idea lol I just looked at it when the front end was off and see the fuel lines 2 electrical connectors and 2 heater matrix hoses and the exhaust v band and the prop that was my hardest opponent I spoke to a friend that works in BMW after I done job he said they take the prop out from rear diff and drag the engine and prop out front as the prop can be really hard to remove from front

@@AshLongie after doing a couple of them, i have determined that BMW minis are the worst car to work on.

@@Peter_Nottle this was my first 1 was dreading doing it for a M8 luckily he helping me do it Would say for sure it's the longest clutch I've done 💯 and I've done Evo clutches and can do them in half the time

@@AshLongie I'm just glad i dont work as a mechanic anymore, new and specificaly euro cars have become almost unworkable

For me the white connectors at the left of the driver seat were a point of bad connection and dirt

Indeed the other way i learned that I cleaned the cat not the DPF, is that you can’t see through a DPF haha, luckily my problem ended up being a grain of sand in my accelerator pedal, not the DPF after all

Yeah was a lot of work done off camera originally, was meant to just be spin and run, as it had previously been a running engine when “parked” a few years earlier

We sourced them from a carbon brush manufacturer on eBay from memory, measured the size and length and then filed them down to suit

Yeah you will most likely find one brush is shorter, causing it to stop working, the process of reassembly can be a little tricky but it can be done :-)

@@JBFromOZthanks 😊 I don’t actually have a bad motor but I do have a single head 2002 JF (not as a main production machine, that’s for modern sprints) and just got done with some fixes for it so kinda exploring what else I should be prepared for 😂

I got my seal kits from Toyota materials handling here in Western Australia, we made pins, bushes and the replacement lifting eyes ourselves to get this machine back into functional spec :-)

There’s parts and workshop manuals on the SDK8 group on Facebook in the files section too

Off the top of my head 5/16 and 1/2 but it was a while ago. I can check when I’m back at the farm next time though!
