Obviously too late now but I always make a special effort to install pipe inline with fixed landmarks that way you can find it again if you need to dig it up without hunting everywhere.
Yes that would be a good plan! I will be fencing either side of this as a pathway between house and shed, so the puppies can run free but not leave the property. By burying 6 feet or more deep hoping it will also be out of reach of most future excursions :-)
