In memoriam Jochen Rindt, World Champion 1970. Tragedy stroke the day before when the right front brakeshaft on his Lotus 72 C broke in practice before the Parabolica.
I remember so well that GP, I was 14, Regazzoni with Ferrari get the victory but the day before Rindt dies in a terrible accident during the practice for the pole! (RIP Jochen) 🙏
The coverage was smaller back then with fewer cameras, fewer sponsors and was not nearly internationally popular as it is today. Where I'm from in Montreal, F1 was almost unheard of back in the 70's because our television network companies didn't televise F1 races preferring to give us our hockey games which of course was THE Canadian sport for nearly 100 years. Even though the first Canadian GP was held in Mosport Park Ontario in 1967 F1 didn't really catch on and become an insatiable popularity until Quebec born French Canadian Gilles Villeneuve to be not only the first Canadian in F1 but a driver for the famed Ferrari team on top of that! Formula One sucks today because it's become far too technical and far too expensive so it's all about the money today!
Horrendous coverage, they completely left out the part from Rettifilo to 2. Lesmo. I know the broadcast was difficult back then, but for god's sake, they could have put at least one more camera at Curva Grande so the camera could follow the cars as they make way towards 1. Lesmo.

I wouldn't say that F1 sucks today. The 2021 season ended up being one of the most exciting in a long time.
Full race is currently unavailable - only first 5 laps and laps 54-60.
I get the impression that Italian TV tried to cover these Monza races with about four cameras.

The usual premature green light at Monza in those days
