The sunny San Marino Grand Prix was the third stage of the 1994 championship. Later it would be called the "black weekend". The most tragic moment in the world of racing.
After the terrible incident involving Rubens Barichello, it was already a terrible start to the weekend, and the next day the Formula 1 world was stunned by the tragic death of Roland Ratzenberger, and only a day later Ayrton Senna died during a race.
The 1994 San Marino Grand Prix is a story of crashes that changed Formula 1 forever...

A friend of mine was there who worked for lotus and he went white and didn't say a word when you asked him about it.
Ayrton I did know as he's a human just like us and not unreachable, despite what some of you say.
He came out to visit friends whom he knew when he worked for lotus, back in the early 80s.
Me and a friend played tennis and he often had a go on my RC Tamiya stadium blitzer truck.
He last visited us here in Norfolk UK Jan 8th 1994.
    I was 13.
For reference it killed a spectator, they later died in hospital after being hit by jj leito rear wheel.
I got straight from someone who was there despite what it says on wiki, as there was a big cover up with a lot of things involving that race in that country.
By rights it should not of took place because Roland Ratzenbeger did actually die on this track. And by italian law, the race should not have taken place.

Roland died on track and an spectator died after the crash at the start of the race. They had two chances of saving Ayrton's life and they preferred to break the law. No one was arrested and that's outrageous. Furthermore, Senna was also killed by the most irresponsible actions done in his car's steering wheel. These actions led to his death, his assassination.

Great video! One tiny correction though: Barrichello's injuries were not as small as reported by most media. In a brazilian podcast he said that when he swallowed his tongue he ended up dying for 5 minutes until paramedics were able to revive him. He also had sequelae from the concussion to the point that he was unable to keep his memories from that whole week and even though he carried Senna's coffin during his funeral, any memory he had from these events were gone, in such a way that he's only able to recall these events by watching recordings. Cheers and congratz for the video!

i completely forgot that Eric Comas simply drove there in his car. my heart sank to my feet once again. such tragedy.
the fact so much blood was lost and it literally rained on the cars below was all you needed to know and it was a crime that the race still went on, after it was already a crime it started in the first place.
the sad thing about all of this was that had Senna actually decided to boycot and not race, he would have lived. he would not have raced, but he never raced more than 7 laps that day either.
there are many conspiratory stories, including assassination by (sniper) gunfire, supposedly indicated by the hole in the helmet, the reason being exactly the proposed boycot and that senna, as claimed, threatened to come out with the truth that they knew Ratzenberger was dead upon impact and that they should have cancelled, which has been claimed involved Italian mafia. Far out stuff? perhaps. probably. but, it encompasses the severity of that weekend.
it was the darkest moment in F1 history. the weekend of Bianchi's death was eerily similar though.

I had thought it was head trauma that killed him, it was the suspension piece boring into his skull. He wouldn't have lived no matter what they tried to do. God was ready for Ayrton Senna, even if he wasn't ready to go.
RIPeace great man, till we all meet up again.
I'm crying because I hate stories of unfulfilled destinies, but also because that Sunday morning I was in bed watching the race from my TV set. After the crash. He seemed to move his head. I saw the helmet move and thought to myself, ok, that was bad but he's going to be alright...
