Fun fact: this was the first race broadcast in Brazil on television - through Record network; the narrator was "the Baron" Wilson Fittipaldi, Emerson's father.
There only seemed to be about three camera positions. No vision of the Curva Grande, the Della Roggia or the Lesmos. Lots of pictures of people looking at Stewart’s broken car though… Worth noting though was the start. As soon as the cars had cleared the start line, the marshals put in the Retofilio chicane.
sensacionais imagens...
Ickx had a large lead and dropped out near the end with an electrical fault, he had just won at the Nurburgring, the 312 B2 was much better than its results indicated, should have won the Championship in 70, 71 and 72!
Really? In 70 reliability cost Ickx dear. In 71 & 72 success was sporadic and the car looked to be falling behind the competition. I'll give you 70 at a push, but no more than that.
@Tifosi2009GP Oh yeh my mistake, Stewart is on the 2nd row. Quite strange though I think missing the chicane like that. The Marshalls erect some sort of barrier quite quickly across that straight-on part of the track. Awesome upload anyway, I wish I was alive at the time to see this era of F1 for real.
Okay I totally don't get the start. Just after the race begins you see Jackie Stewart lead them away, on the next shot the field is all flying straight on through the Rettifilo chicane just before you see Jackie Stewart retiring with a clutch problem. Yet shortly after that the field takes the chicane properly, as in a Left - Right chicane. Did they skip through the chicane for the starts and then use it for the rest of the race?
I know this is 11 years later, but if you or anyone else is still wondering, the marshals built the chicane quickly at the start after all drivers went by. I've seen different footage from the main straight where you can see them putting the boards and signs onto the track. Quite crazy when you think about it :D
Although the word "safety" had been invented by 1972, it apparently wasn't in common use. They probably lost more track workers and marshals than drivers.
Canuck Fundy All good reasons that, on behalf of his fellow racers, Jackie Stewart cantankerously argued for better safety during the seventies and eighties.
Fantastic! Grazie!
Grazie, splendide immagini e suoni meravigliosi!!
Great upload! CZcams needs more of this stuff!
Awesome footage

The circuit looked a lot wider in that era compared to now (especially from Ascari to Parabolica).
The first brazilian driver champion, Emerson Fittipaldi!
By that time was the youngest.and with one of the most beautiful and fastest car of his time
How a lucky man he was...
without all the mecanical problems that Ixck had and forced him to retire while he was leading never Fittipaldi would have been world champion
@@evanderer this is part of the game. There is no "if"
italian blood Fitipaldi
The first year Monza had chicanes.

Was his dad Wilson as well ? i know his brother is Wilson.
full race?
Che EPOCA....porca miseria..
Beautiful footage - wish more of the F1 footage on youtube was of this standard
Love that 005 Tyrrell - neat and compact.
A wonderful film with no silly music or talking. Just a nice original film. Lovely. 👍

XLIIIrd running, Italian 🇮🇹 Grand Prix from 1972 Formula l racing season 🏁 🏎
Emerson's Win! Great pilot.
The start (lap 1) without chicane!!!
grandioso........
wow, the Ascari chicane is just a hole in the wall around some trees
Momento histórico do automobilismo mundial, e principalmente do automobilismo brasileiro.
First time of the chicane in the circuit.
Do you have the full footage of this race?
Great to see how Monza looked in these days, with the primitive chicanes :)
The layout seemed to change quite often. There seems to be 1000 ways to lay that course out. Pretty cool!
Humorously shockingly funny (but not) how close people stood to the race track. Fast cars, racing; I'm standing just so. What could go wrong?
E il Fiat 600!
Lovely - such a shame that, from 1972, those ridiculous chicaines stopped Monza being Monza - just like today!
If you just want straights then watch American drag racing.
@@thethirdman225 No no, there WERE bends in the old Monza, otherwise the drivers would have just vanished into the distance.
For those watching in black and white the red car is a Ferrari

show de bola! essa formula 1, tinha outra cara!
The cars then still looked pretty fast on the straights but in the corners they look slow compared to today's F1 cars.
Ferrari 312B. Beautiful.
Jackie lost his clutch

Emerson Fittipaldi world champion! 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
A procedure I think should be revived..
Warm up is only a few hundred meters, so that drivers will stay more focused on lap 1
Even than...... those F1 Was really fast theirs time No Security
Unforgettable!! The first brazilian driver champion of the world F-1.

The Tyrell and the Lotus both had Ferrari covered during those years. Some tracks favoured the 12 cylinder Ferrari...not enough.
Musica destinata a scomparire uccisa dall' elettrico 😢

Niente sopraelevata nel 72?
mcarrera77 no, quella non c'era più già dal 1962
An example for the really really bad broadcasting of italian-TV...nothing of importance to see.
Without seeing the rest of the footage, it would be unfair to say that. I know from other posters that there is more.
