As a personal trainer for over 10 years, I have been using these bands since I started. I have only gone through two sets in those years and I am on my third set. I train people of many different sizes and strength levels, and these bands don’t break. It takes three years before they start breaking in when they snap. They do it very safely and no one has ever been hurt. I appreciate your review. I wish it wasn’t so long but it was very informative.
I have been using Bodylastics for year and while a couple of the lighter bands tore, they never actually snapped and since they have lifetime warranty I was able to get them replaced. Other than replacing ankle straps due to Velcro wearing out, I have used them for years without an issue equipment wise. Also like others said they have 30lb and 40lb bands for increased resistance.
I'm glad you did a test review on these bands. We originally purchased cheap $15 tubes. 2 broke and snapped back pretty hard! Ouch! Well I suppose we got what we paid for! Like you stated most manufacturers neglect the other parts. I love the handles on these as our other ones ended up falling apart because they had that cheap foam that peals off. For the money I would expect top notch parts. They could have put a thicker none welded ring as you stated. I bet you could easily find another set of thick metal rings at a hardware store which wouldn't cost much. These bands seem to be what I had been looking for. Great idea in the anti snap technology by putting a cord inside the tube. They seem like they will hold up really well over time. The only pain I expect to experience is muscle soreness! Thanks for the review!
Can't speak to the bodylastics but only loop bands.... By far and away the Serious Steel are the best quality so far.
The real question is: Would the competing brand, even the good ones such as torrobands, snap going through the same test?
You probably need a force greater than 300 pounds to break that cord if it’s nylon with a 1/8 inch diameter… You could’ve been close to the breaking point
Why does Mrs. DD look like she's biting her tongue while she's stifling that chuckle? It takes a strong woman to stay quiet in those situations. Thanks for sacrificing yourself for the sake of fitness.
Been using them for like 9 years. Only have had 4 snap in total. I have 4 different sets that I rotate. I have the ultra door anchor for 7 years on a door in arizona which get hits with the sun a ton. My handles have 0 issues. The leg straps I've had to replace because the velcro just wears out eventually but that is 2 sets in 9 years. Never once had to replace handles or had o ring issues. Hooks never broke and nylon never even frayed. If anything you would have broken your door before any of those snapped and then you would have hit your back and then some.
I bought my bodylastics bands in 2013, the yellow one just broke this week... 10 years. It broke at the connection of the hook,, the tube came loose but the interior rope stayed. Great Quality. I'd buy again for sure
Anyone use PTP tubes?
What a great channel Dave! I am impressed with how much work you put into this.
Love your explanation and your demonstration! As a beginner in this resistance band workouts, I really appreciate the clear explanations!
Excellent review video bro ! I use this brand as I’ve commented on your Instagram page , they do sell thicker bands now on there website which I’ve purchased so you don’t have to bunch up all the bands to get more resistance. Excellent video and honesty. One day I will tryout the toro bands
Dave, I've been using bodylastics bands & their chiseled workout program for almost 6 years. I liked them that much that after a month, I bought the band set which you are reviewing which is (I think) the Maxx T set. 19lb is the heavier band amongst that set. Had you reviewed the strongman set, there would have been a 23lb & 30lb band included. More recently, bodylastics have introduced a 40lb band.
Just found your site. I have the Hosetop bands and really like them but needed some variation. You give a thorough review, so I just subscribed. I'll be checking out more of your videos.
Great video. I’ve had my Bodylastics T.O. bands for 7 years and they still have not snapped. Trust me, I put in work.
Thanks for your bravery in testing, Dave. Actually I don't think many people who use these bands are going to use them to the extreme that you do. I recently bought a set of Bodylastics. I'm sure they've give me a good workout without ever stretching them to the breaking point, and I'm guess that will hold true for most people using them. Also if you need more "weght" you can always double up the bands without trying to stretch them so far.
Dave, you're killing me!!! I'm not YOUR mother, but as A mother, I have watched in agony as you face the door and do that "face pull" move, with me screaming at the computer, "You're going to put your eye out with that thing!" Now, you test these bands facing away from the door, and decide to protect yourself with a pillow? All this time, you should have been wearing goggles and a crash helmet!!
One of my Bodylastic bands just snapped this week. Mind you, I've had them for 4 years and I use them at least twice a week, so I got good use out of them.
Dave , you did a great review. I just wished I found you sooner because I spent almost $200 for over 260 lbs of Bodylastic resistance bands from Amazon. I am hoping I can still get the muscle building body I want with what I have .
