I think that the anti-snap property of the Bodylastics is very important. The best band is the one you'll use. If someone is always looking over their shoulder, afraid it might snap, they will eventually give up. With the Bodylastics, even if it does snap, you know the rope will save you. I think the fear of snapping has stopped a lot of people from using bands, certainly from letting themselves go at it.

This is an extremely important point. Senator Harry Reed was seriously injured by a resistance band breaking. Just a small rubber band carries a lot of energy, and most resistance bands are just big rubber bands that carry tremendously more energy. I've been looking at many resistance bands on Amazon, and they almost all have negative comments where the bands snapped. So yes, it is important. I'll be investigating both the Bodylastics and the VRTX bands more closely, but the vast majority of bands are just not worth the risk, no matter what the accessories are.

Nice video! After going 'round and 'round on bands trying to decide which ones to get, for loop bands I went with the RBT Quantum bands. For a time, I was set on the Undersun and then the Serious Steel bands, but ultimately picked the Quantums (they arrived today - quick shipping!) For tube bands, I narrowed it down to the Torrobands as choice #1 and Bodylastics as #2, but after reading some of the comments about supply chain issues with the Torros, I may go for the Bodylastics instead. They both seem to have good things going for them.

In fact, there are more than enough exercises to do with the loop bands that I felt I didn't need to also get the tube bands. Hi Dave excellent video about the best resistance bands. I am 72 years old and I have been using BMP’s bands since last 9 years and I found them to be long lasting even in high humid and hot or cold conditions. Besides if you do break one due to wrong use such as stretching them beyond the double length then it will be replaced free of charges as it carries a life time warranty.
As regards Bodylastics I agree with your comments. They are good but last year due to COVID I could not access them as they were left in my parent’s house in India and when I checked after one year they were all defrayed and all of them broke as soon as I started using them. The rubber or latex could not withstand the high humidity and hot weather even though they were hanging from the wall anchors in the home gym. Where as some of the BMP bands that were also there remained in good working condition.

Dave, only just watched your review. Bodylastics at #2 🤔. Bodylastics have a lifetime warranty on their bands, so if you do snap them, they will replace free of charge minus shipping cost ($4 - even in the UK). Secondly, the rope inside the band isn't a con. It is there to stop you from snapping the band in your face. I have snapped 2 bands in 6 years of usage & I didn't even know I had snapped the band(s) until I saw the rope. The rope does prevent injuries. Bodylastics are always looking at ways of improving their products all the time & as you say, the bar & ultra anchors are absolute game changers.
Keep your videos coming Dave. I love your take on resistance bands.

Hi, will the eye ring at the end of the Torrobands accommodate a curling bar. I like the versatility that the eye ring allows. I only buy bands that have an eye ring of a certain size. Many attachments can be mounted thereby eliminating the constant clipping/unclipping of bands with carabiners mounted on their ends. I use a standard steel curling bar and steel J-handles to eliminate the constant clipping/unclipping of carabiners. Thanks for all your efforts outstanding training videos. I noticed you are using the wrap around grip with the tube bands - yes, that is a great means to stretch to max.

    HI Dave!
I bought the $197 Ultimate kit and Neoprene protective sleeve and called them to pick their brain regarding things like the neoprene sleeve attatchment, the out of stock Door attatchment with 25 connector spots, being taller and the cord inside that may limit your range of motion, plus pound ratings, etc. I knew you mentioned this in your review, so I wanted to share that the cord is 16 feet long and the resistance you're feeling is the band resistance and not the cord.
Also, the Rating on a band, say the 3 lb, if you pull it double it's distance, it goes to 6 and 4 times its length, it's 12. I asked about Torroband having an advantage of having a 40, 60, 70, 80 and you can buy 100 and up.
He said Torroband rates them on a single pull and Bodylastics does a double pull test for pound pressure. He said that Bodylastics 40 lb. is equivalent to at least Torroband's 80 and closer to the 100.
They're working hard to get the 25 spot door attatchment in stock.
Their lifetime warranty and $5.99 shipping after 90 days for life is a no brainer.
When you first call customer service, you get an operator who takes your phone #, and shortly after you get a very knowledgeable customer service representative. I can tell you that the guy was awesome and was a customer before he was an employee and knew the products inside and out.
    Have a great day Dave!

I started two years ago with your average band set and then went to Undersun and Lifeline which are really great, but the Lifeline are a little hard to install and remove the tube band but still the handles are really nice because they rotate in your hand. Then I found X3 and could do everything I do in the gym and have a base plate. Next, I found the XBar but didn't like the bands and set them back and kept the bar to use with my X3 flatlands but had to get two quick links large enough for the 2 1/2-inch black band. The XBar is great for squats and curls as it has that curl bar bend to it to fit your hands and when doing front squats, it's easier to hold in front of you than the X3 bar which is straight and shorter. The X3 shortness causes the bands to scrape your shoulders and the wider bar keeps them away from you. I understand X3 is coming with a new wider bar, but it has no bend to it. I can say the X3 is a quality product and has been worth the premium price a paid for it but advancements in this area keep coming. Let the force be with you.

So thanks Dave for the review, very through, I thought. Couple of updates I would mention. But, I purchased a $30 set of tube bands (with kit) for 30 bucks, ya know, 5 bands, cheap handles, cheap bag, useless ankle straps, etc. They work great, aside from needing more resistance. Then I purchased some Sunpow loops, 5 bands, color coded, much more resistance. All good, but very hard on the hands and wrists. So I just purchased some Clench handles, (haven't got them yet), a straight bar, 26-38 inches depending on setup, another set of Sunpow bands, (10 total,) And ordered a set of Torro bands today. I don't really recommend their business but, they have excellent reviews on their quality. (they put me on back-order status) So I get them when I get them. (they didn't tell me until they took the money) plus u have to PAY for a WARRANTY! so bad!!!! I like Grange but I can't see paying double or more for orange bands. Sunpows are just as good for half. So I will have two sets for 64 bucks, 34 for first set, 30 for second, (their on sale again) Torro is amazing in their sales propaganda. Their sale, ('Wow, what a great sale we're having, half price!)( they have been half price since the dawn of apes) Then once u purchase their "deluxe set with a free 80# band and the special safety coating, and the 9 dollar warranty, it still one hundred dollars, then after that they try to sell u all this other bullshit u know u never needed, or already have. I did also purchase from Clench, their handles for 34 bucks. At least Clench is honest and above board. And their people are honest and forthright. I will definitely do business with them again, not Torro. But all in all, I just want to get fit and healthy. I just wish the process was easier. PS, I'm old and on SSI and don't like being abused by someone like Torro.

Hello Dave! I came back to this video to give you an update. I bought the Torroband, their Light Package, along with the VIP Package. A month later, nothing. They apologized and offered me their carry bag and 10% off and told me I would be moved to the top of their shipping line. 6 weeks later, nothing. I cancelled. Now I have to pick another set. Which ones do you think that I should get, as a well rounded package, with hand, ankle, carry bag and a decent selection of long lasting bands, including others that may have come out after this video was released? Also, I'm just over 6 feet, so I'm not sure if Bodylastics would work, or would they be a great choice?
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Thought about Bodylastic but 3 lb and 5lb bands? You have to add a lot of bands to get resistance. On the other hand, the Toro bands need some smaller resistant bands to adjust weight better. Just my opinion.

No bands are safer or better than Bodylastics. Designed by a guy that uses them everyday. I have used them for about 10 years and have broken a few during that time. That string totally works. The band just goes limp. No slingshot like other bands. Ankle straps and handles are the very best as well. You do not need the curl bar but it is nice. Have never broken or frayed the handle fabric or handles so I call bs on your scare tactic. In my mind if you value your safety, Bodylastics are it. Torrobands also cost a lot more

Over the years I've used tons of bands, in conjunction with free weight when I was powerlifting and then on there own while travelling. I also train sports team and use the bands with them as well. For tube style bands I 'd go with Bodylastics....the only con for me is they tend to get pretty heavy tp travel with all the carabiners and attachments but I guess you can say this for all tube style bands. I now use only loop style bands and for the past year I was a huge Undersun guy, but now for me Clench bands are the best by a wide margin. Clench bands are more durable than Undersun (the undersun bands are NOT layered) they are denser and thicker while having the same width which is the main indicator of higher quality for me. Clench also makes some amazing accessories....the door anchor is stellar...you can attach several bands at once which saves you time and effort without having to change bands all the time, ideal when you are doing drop sets or super sets or having short rests between exercises. Furthermore they make game changing band handles. These things give loop bands the advantage previously enjoyed only by tube style bands! The handles also enable you to "shorten" the band and make certain exercises more doable...you need to try it to see what I mean. Im pretty strong on deadlifts and these handles are the only way I can deadlift now as otherwise the thick bands I need to use make deadlifting very uncomfortable by digging into my palms despite using gloves...the handles solves this problem. Clench would be much more popular if they sold them on Amazon but they are family owned and sell only through their website. Dave its high time you reviewed these bad boys. Why don't just regular flat bands get any love? You can get a roll of them, cut the roll into individual ones of the length you need for your body height and chosen exercises, layer them up for more resistance (potentially well over 350lbs) and it won't be nearly as expensive as some of the really heavy tubing or circle bands. And you can get them in really high-quality synthetic rubber, meaning that it won't degrade and lose elasticity with mere time. That's what I use pretty much exclusively.
