How far can mobility bands stretch? That was the burning question on our mind. We've tested how much barbells can hold before they bent, dropped dumbbells to find out if they can break and now it was time to answer the question "how far can you stretch resistance bands before they break." Turns out, a lot longer than we thought!

Not gonna lie this is good marketing for the bands
Facts! I want to get some now lol
I thought they'd compare theirs to some regular bands
you're lying
Next time - how many bands does it take to stop the truck.
Lol. Great idea!
The better question is, how many bands does it take to stop a Buff Dude
Yeah!!!
@@jim7666 😐really?
@@jim7666 theyre merely body builders not strong men
4:34 "this tank is filled with horse shit" (dubbed over as "rocket fuel" :D)
Didn't even catch that on my phone speakers
Just as I was reading this, they said it
Haha I thought he said “estrogen”
Hydrogen
Yeah, just what I wondered a couple of days ago.
Not quite the same way tho right?
Your curiosity has been sated, I've had a handle snap while using bands before it screwed up my shoulder for almost a month (full tension on a number of bands at once, it was over 100 pounds of pull when it broke.)
@@msihcs8171 Ouch! I hope you've fully recovered.
@@shady_spurlin Nope. I don't own two trucks. 😁
@@pile333 Yes, that was a long time ago. I just learned to be more careful with bands and associated equipment, and not to be cheap about them . . .
Should've attached a hook weighing scale to measure the amount of tension they produced.
This would have been cool if it was a lil more scientific. Could have hooked an inline dynamometer and been able to gage how much force was required to break. Def an interesting idea
That's a great idea, Atom. We were thinking the same thing when we were about midway through the test. That's sometimes the hard thing about doing weekly videos, the prep time is really short as we're trying to release one each week. Also loved the idea someone else had of setting a "BOB" training dummy on the other end, to see how devastating the snap would've been. Not so much scientific on that one though, more just fun. ;-P -Hudson
@@buffdudes wow thanks for the reply man. Just some constructive criticism. Love the channel, and think the Bob would be awesome too
@@buffdudes you guys should link up with Ryan Jenkins of How not to highline. He does a bunch of testing of rock climbing and high lining equipment. He has this slack snap machine that he uses but goes into the wild often also. He would be a great resource and has all the equipment. I'm sure he'd be down to collab
@@buffdudes do that before the bodyweight test😂😂😂
@Ataraxia_Atom Could you show them to make sure of the results.
Band size in mm, resistance in lbs. 'Merica!
mm is a universal unit tho, right?
@@Da_Swiftamm iw metric, lbs is imperial. Very different
I’m not even there and I’m wincing. Wearing my YATS FFUB shirt proud.
I'm wondering if the bigger ones snapped at a shorter distance because the attachment point cut into them more. If you decide to do another stretch test, might be worth hooking them over a pipe to take that out of the equation.
Except these guys aren’t scientists 😬 also wondering how much weight these ropes hold?
it negates all the testing, load at ripping would have been good info too, easy also.
I was wondering the same thing. The anchor is crucial with bands
The sound that last band made was insane. This was a very fun experiment to watch!
This should have been called The Buff Duke's of Hazard.
First off, I love seeing all you guys together! Boys I love ya, but Duke is THE MAN! Love me some Duke! This was actually what I wanted to see. I've seen other workout band companies out there and once I saw you guys were coming out with a mobility band program and bands I had to give it a look. By the pictures I thought the bands were the really loose flimsy bands that you would see in a rehab center, but no no! These are the big boys! These are the ones that I have at home and some that I have to help me stretch out the old legs on a daily basis! I'll definitely be looking to purchase these bands + the workout book in the near future! Thank you guys for all that you do! and remember Stay Buff!
I’m just imagining getting hit in the balls by this
Lol same
I was just imagining losing an eye to this
Wouldnt be balls no more would be circles
I haven't seen a product demonstration this brilliant since Flex Seal! Lol! It shows the strength and durability of your bands while being entertaining! Thanks!
Incredible video guys!!
Thank you buff dudes I was searching for this video and the video was exactly what I was expecting thank you and keep creating the video❤?😎
Great experiment and one good way to promote Buff Dudes Bands..😁
I was hesitant to start doing resistance band pullups, but now I'm not. Thank you
1. This channel is awesome and really helpful while always being entertaining.
2. Your bands probably perform better than this test shows. I think an issue you ran into with the larger bands is an uneven distribution of force on the bands at the anchors. The small bands fit their anchors better but the larger ones look to create a pinch-point to increase the odds of structural failure.
3. If there ever is a "revenge of the bands" video, maybe anchor the bands around a steel pipe with the chain running through it. Add a dynamometer as previously said too.
Keep up the great content!
nice video man!
We enjoyed it very freaking well!! Thank you
Well done very interesting you rock family!
admit it, we’ve all wondered this but have been too scared to try
Just got my BUFF DUDES cutting book in the mail & am excited to start it asap 💪🏼
That's awesome, Chris! Good luck and keep us updated.
duke and the buff dudes have birthed a buff bands family...........kudos from the The Bun Twins....
You guys are awesome 😎
Bro science, I love it, great job Buff Dudes!
Fantastic video. Buff Dad is too cool.
Came to this channel to learn fitness. Stayed because of the awesome dynamic between Brandon, Hudson and their pops.
I haven't watched Buff Dudes' content in a while... they've come a long way from simple exercise and nutritional advice.
Buff Dudes are always creative
Buff Dad, I love my buff Dudes!
Buff Dudes, we love buff dad!
Love your videos! Always makes me laugh, I bought the mobility band workout plan from you guys couple months back i was HOPING you’d also sell your own bands to go along with it! They are finally here! yeaaa!!! 💪🏼💪🏼 - buff dude “GAINZ”
bro I actually was scared to start training pull-ups with resistance band because i thought it would snap and hurt my face or my balls, but now i feel pretty confident about it, got myself 32mm width, 208 cm length one and I'm starting next week! that's awesome, ty so much for this vid!
A little disappointed there was no CGI explosions, but informative never the less. Thank you. I am starting phase 2.5 day 3 today.
We were a little disappointed nothing exploded either.
Very clever. You made an infomercial for your new product without your viewers even being aware.
If you get a bump in sales after this, you deserve it.
No lie, the fear of mobility bands snapping is why I avoid them😂but the vid was great!
Great ad for the bands!
the video i never knew i needed ! :D
Súper fan de sus videos, saludos desde México 🇲🇽! Yeaaah! 💪🏽
hudson, your hair is awesome in this one. it is a fantastic haircut on you!
I'm sitting on the other side of the Atlantic watching this, and gritting my teeth watching those bands stretch wondering when they'll snap.
Very nice guys! BUFF DUDES + DAD 🌶️🥇🇸🇪
How far can an iron plate fall without breaking
Great Awesome!
Im glad you tested this out because I was worried that I was gonna snap em with my BUFF DUDE GAINZ!!
Very nice
Dude, these guys could legitimately be Henry Cavills and Chris Hemsworths stunt doubles.
No they can’t
Henry Cavill and Chris Hemsworth can be their stunt doubles
@@atomerki9759 haha
Buff dudes deserve their own reality TV show to do these fun experiments!
Damn these bro's are wholesomly buff🙏🏾
That was heck of good marketing lol cool vid.
All I'm doing is watching the video but I jumped everytime they popped. 😂😂😂
Do y'all have a video of you guys using the resistance bands?
This was so random and yet so cool and satisfying
Yip, these guys are still the best
I was hoping to see Buff Duke's rig!
Buff Marketing 101 :) lol cool vid honestly.
Watching the hook up of the trucks...reminded me of a bad ass 80's action movie that was just getting started!!! Lol
I was thinkin, now take the bands, stretch em and use em as a slingshot. Send 1-5lb dumbells to the moon or over the field. Buffdude olympics.
Just to add to the results - over time as the rubber 'dries up' it will break a lot sooner, just look at old rubber bands.
Happy Fathers Day Buff Dad & Dude.
Thanks Sean 😀
Love the old baler behind you
i was definitely wincing watching the bands getting pulled lol.
i thought it was cool how the buff dudes logo grew in the orange band.
Always wanted to know that🙂👍
Hi Boys im in Brazilian... Muito bom seus vídeos.
I want to know the location where this was shot. It looks absolutely beautiful and pollution free! Awesome video too 😁
their effort to give us beautiful entertainment
hi love u guys
I was wincing watching this... from Scotland
the actual answer to this question is dependent on how well you maintain your bands.
Is it about strech or the rebound to original in bands??. i think its later
Can you make a video of all the workouts you can do with your bands? I've never worked out with bands before other than for upper back because I cant do any pull ups. It would be good to know more knowledge. Thanks.
I'd say that's a pretty good product demonstration
Oh yeah, consumer advice Buff Dudes style 🤟💪
Cool
The band behind the truck remind me the scene of Hitcher with Rutger Hauer ^^
This reminds me of those old watch commercials where they'd hit it with a hammer to prove how good their product is.
underrated channel
I just got a set of bands myself. This is very reassuring as I was having a hard time trusting them, especially the slimmest one, not to snap.
How is your experience with them now?
Don't get reassured. If you search further you can see the same bands snap at 3 to 4 times stretches.
@@pgmagictricks7013 Great.
Hudson looks like if HHH and thor had a baby
And Brandon looks like if wolverine and sabertooth had a baby
And dad looks like if Bill gates was a handy man
Have you done a drop test of the power rack? How much weight can it take with the DIY barbell
Question would this be a better split I'm currently on push pull legs n my mate told me to do full body on Monday then arms Tuesday n Wednesday full body then arms on Thursday turn full body for full body it's bench press then incline then rows then reverse grip rows for mid back then squats n front squats n for arms it's hammer curls then wide grip then close grip then skull crushers for triceps then overhead press n side delts n back 1
Tremendous
The results make a lot of sense considering it resists more stretching
Answering true questions of humanity
Oh snap!
I need these bands Yeeah!
I think if the bands have he same length, their snap distance would also be the same because what you make up for in width is also compensated by resistance.
To cause a longer snap i think you would need a longer (at rest) or more elastic band.
Thanks for testing, prior to this video, I was concerned that the bands would snap on my workouts and hitting me. Now I know I am way in the safe zone.
Interesting how the thicker ones can't stretch as far. Let's see a Stretch Armstrong between those trucks:)
They aren't thicker they're wider
It makes sense to me. Let's say power x makes the band tear. Then the same power x stretches the thinner bands further due to less resistance. And the material will be the same so it has roughly the same durability
@@TheBlondBoyBandit yea you're right, my point is stupid because tensile strength depends on the area not the shape and the force exerted on it
Yeah dude
Why did I get so tense watching this? lol
What is a practical use for the orange one in the gym? I have one of those XXXL bands on the garage, but it is so strong I have never use it for anything because of how strong it is
Did the hook dig into them at all? I went frame by frame on the second band and it snapped at the hook. Just curious if you could have gone longer had you used a soft rounder connecter for the bands
I shed a tear everytime buff dad shaves his awesome beard
Paused at 1 second to put a like before having to distract myself mid video💪💪
Can you test the bodylastics brand please
Quality control done the right way...
Just off this video alone I will buy you guys band lol.
Everytime it's going to snap, my eyes flinched. 😳😆😳😆😳😆👀👀👀
A sensor measuring the force required would have been interesting.
I think the rigging of the last 2 the chain being choked around it pinched it and cut it prematurely. If anything I think the results are more impressive for that.
