    I love how it was mentioned that PWCC "split off" from Ebay rather than the more accurate statement that they got kicked off of Ebay for shill bidding. And that's not to mention their repeated fraud with knowingly selling trimmed cards.

      @@messagekevin7066 They have proof of continuous shilling. Believe what you want.
      PWCC didn't announce they were leaving before ebay banned them, and said at the time they were exploring legal options. That shiws they were not intending to leave.

    • @scarpfish
      @scarpfish Před 2 lety +2

      @@luke1jones Ebay didn't care about PWCC's "continuous shilling" when it was making them boatloads in auction fees. If they were really concerned with it, they'd have kicked their primary competitor (that one that's always 'actively accepting consignments') off the platform too, because their auction results on high end cards show they're still very much doing it.

    • @luke1jones
      @luke1jones Před 2 lety +3

      @@scarpfish I'm not suggesting ebay is a saint here. Just pointing out that ebay and pwcc didn't "part ways". Whether the real reason ebay finally decided to take action was disingenuous or not doesn't matter. The fact that PWCC is shady as crap and was shilling still remains. I simply wanted to point that out since the video conveniently glossed over that fact.

    People are complaining about cross-overs but it’s resending in to the same company over and over again that is a much bigger problem. I know a guy that sent a card to PSA 11 times before he got the grade he wanted. That is messing up pop reports waaaaaaay more than crossovers

  • @TW-fv2zu

    Cracking slabs does not work with PSA - PSA population controls and their GEM rates are down from 35-45% to Only 8-14%. PSA is VERY inconsistent with their grading.

    Great video Geoff! I am a BIG fan of the $1 bins at card shops. Usually I am the only one searching these and can find some good, older cards ($3 Cooper Kupp RR Optic holo last month). As for crossover grading, I am a bit more economically cautious. With S&H, if I avg. $33/card for SGC, then submit to PSA at $53/card, I now have $88 tied up in 1 card and would want a $200 difference in 10 grades to turn a decent profit.

    I like MarketMovers but I am not sold on the ebay deals search. Sometimes the last sale of a card is an outlier thus making the market movers insight on a particular card look like a great deal, but it might not be. It would be nice to customize this to search on a median sale or average sale over a period of time, and not just most recent sale.

The Pristine is especially tough to get. You’re leaving out a major item about vintage cards. That PSA 3 Clemente you mention could have poor eye appeal, so the $199 comp won’t apply. Vintage is not a one size fits all, each grade will have a wider sale range because of eye appeal. In the lower grade slabbed realm you routinely see a higher technical grade sell for less than a technical grade 1 below that because of eye appeal

      At the end of the day… once the hype is lowered in the hobby. It’s the card in the slab that matters, because there will be SO Many slabs, especially PSA. As long as it’s a reputable grading company. Psa/Bgs/SGC/CSG/ their values will get closer.

    • @dominicgomez7255
      @dominicgomez7255 Před 2 lety +1

      They will. It’s called a crossover. However, they ask you what’s the lowest grade you’d take. If you send in let’s say a sgc 9.5 and the least grade you say you’ll take is a 10. Then PSA will evaluate it to see if it meets a 10. If it does meet a 10 then they will slab it in a PSA slab and send back to you. If it doesn’t. Then they will send the card back in its original slab, BUT they will still charge you the grading fee.

    Market Movers app looks like it's the real deal, if you have "popular" cards. I gave up after trying to load about 100 cards, I could have loaded everything manually but if it's not tracked at all, why bother? Guess I'll try again if I ever get better cards...

We appreciate the main stream of card industry I think your channel does bring people into the hobby who would just walked past the card window with out looking. I been into cards from 2019-2020 2020-21. I think panini is just flooding the market , and delaying product releases to increase there longevity into when they lose Profesional licensing. Panini is crashing the market with over printing and this will be the transition after panini is out from a falling market to sustainability with fanantics . I got some topps chrome overtime and in set you can see they copied some of paninis inserts. SO fanatics can pick out the paralels say like colorblasts and easily make there own versions that are similar. I rip and sell raw, and im brand new to hobby just me and some cards on ebay.

    I have a feeling that eventually the grading companies will stamp their logo on people's cards after grading so if you crack the case you can't cross grade cards with other companies. It's choice we'll have to decide to have our cards graded..

  • @biiigsportsguy6148
    @biiigsportsguy6148 Před 2 lety +3

    You also forgot to mention how much crossovers hurt the industry and the hobby because it destroys accurate pop counts. And if psa gives a 46% gem rate on one single card that card will drop in value long term. Good to make a quick buck maybe but destroying the market long term. But what do I know, I’m not an “investor”.

    • @TheJroc818
      @TheJroc818 Před 2 lety

      not all too sure the logic of a gem mint card hurting the "hobby/industry" tracks (except maybe from the aspect of grading companies being called on trash grades) 🤔
      though, like you said, maybe it's just me. I mean, I don't follow why gem rates are of any importance to a specific card either (they're not, btw!! like, whatsoever. the card is the card) 🤦‍♂️

    • @biiigsportsguy6148
      @biiigsportsguy6148 Před 2 lety

      @@TheJroc818 that’s because you need to look at it from an investment stand point. If almost half of the cards graded receive a 10 that means there are a ton of them and that makes it less valuable because it isn’t rare. Scarcity makes something more valuable. Also taking a card from one company and crossing it over destroys the population report that the company keeps to tell you how many of each grade there are. Every time a card is crossed over the count becomes more inaccurate.

    • @TheJroc818
      @TheJroc818 Před 2 lety

      @@biiigsportsguy6148 oddly, I'm solely thinking investment... long term. in fact, been in the game for almost 4 decades now. also fully understand supply & demand. and, tbh, population reports really don't speak to scarcity in almost any shape or form (they highlight it). heck, truthfully, just about every low pop card is merely waiting for company. and, if you think about it, someone popping a slab and raising pop reports is kinda adding to the hobby (commerce, new interest/attention, grading convos, heck, a better graded card).
      also, since nobody in here has, or will have a $100,000 dollar card, there's almost no conversation to be had (and, if you did, it would be an insanely low pop card before grading and some report wouldn't change that). meanwhile vintage prices won't be affected by slight fluctuations, b/c their scarcity, as well as their value is *well* established.
      the craziest part is hearing folks talk about "grading the same card over and over" (obviously they've never done it once, lol). I mean, we're in an era where we've not only tracked the T206 Honus Wagner's that exist, but the fact that we know the PSA Holy Grail has been altered. so nothing major is sneaking up on the hobby.
      besides, if a slab gets cracked and the card grades better than it was, especially in today's much stricter grading atmosphere, wouldn't that card be more than deserving of the grade it gets? 🤷‍♂️
