Cool to see a dollar bin challenge, although no way that would work with some of the local shows here. Dealers are very selective, especially when buying.

Another great video, any help please and from any people watching as well I'm pretty new to collecting football(soccer) but was looking into other cards to have a go at as well NBA,MLB,NFL,F1 etc even wrestling. I don't like the message that Geoff is pushing here...a lot of people will go out of their way to give complete strangers a deal in this hobby... but to turn around and make a profit off of someone's kindness rubs me the wrong way.... soon people will be reluctant to help people out... do it the right way and buy cards that appreciate in value...and then sell.
I find it quite insulting that he is talking loudly to the camera about how the cards are undervalued and how he will flip them for a profit right infront of the poor dealer lol
I wouldn’t say poor dealer. Those guys know what they have and are happy to move low end cards and give deals. it’s pretty common for lots of collectors to hustle cards so no one should care what the buyer plans to do with it when pricing. When I was selling at shows I loved selling to resellers. They bought way more cards and if they made money they’d come back next time and buy more.
It’s free market capitalism baby. No one forced the sellers to sell.

I am new to the card hobby. I was wondering if you have a numbered card out of 99 why is one of them worth more than the other one.
depends on player, team, how they’re doing. lots of different aspects. a /99 of joe burrow vs /99 kyler murray has a big price difference
And a normal /99 is worth less then a /99 with a Jersey Relic or Auto

My brother got up to 20K plus flipping and selling at school, shows and flea markets when he was 13-14 (not sure of this kids age) so it's possible. His success was in 1993-94 so more like 30k plus in todays money. I think a lot of people thought he was "cute" so they gave into what he was selling or offering in trades. Not hard to believe a kid can flip up to 3k+ considering the high prices these days.
I gave my grandkids a ton of cards and am getting them into selling them and get them graded

That kid made $100 on a $3400 card but your son made almost as much with what you bought. This the reason why I don't touch cards that expensive. You could lose your ass if that card falls or if you can't find a buyer.
Doesn't relying on comp sales to complete deals make profits impossible? It should be a guide, but I don't understand why ever dealer seems beholden to it. You're not at the eBay store, you're holding a card in your hand.
Because if you can sell it on ebay for more money (even after fees), why would you sell it for 25% below that price, for example? You're throwing money away.
As a seller, I am more than happy to go 10, 15, and sometimes even 20% below ebay prices so I don't have to deal with the time to list, ship, and risk the postal service screwing up or getting a bad buyer who screws you over, but it would still be moronic to not use every resource available to you to get the best deal you possibly can get. If someone offers me $500 for a card that is going for $1000 on ebay, by not checking, you are potentially throwing away $300-360.

The first “dealer” your son went to in his video is your good buddy who’s essentially your business partner! It’s just not genuine content….maybe others are entertained by it….
He went off on his own, I had no influence over what dealers he went to. He has met Joe (the first dealer) before but he hadn’t met any of the others.

In 2019 I was at a card show in the mall and he had $1 bin there were 70 lebron james upper deck rookies in there bought them for $70 and held them now thier like $40-$50 each
I respect the hell out of that 14 year old but you don’t go from nothing to I’m assuming $10k plus in cards by just flipping in that short of time. It’s definitely possible to make a ton of money but the margins just aren’t there like that and he’s definitely not doing it full time.
