    How do you know if you are supposed to use the numbers on the outer side of the template, or the ones on the inner side? For instance, 147 also aligned with 213 on your gage, so how do you know to use the inner numbers? Hopefully that makes sense.

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601  Před 2 lety +1

      Because the timing number is 147 not 213

    • @ReeseCustoms
      @ReeseCustoms Před 2 lety +1

      @@shannonwilliams601 what I mean is, the gage has 147 on it twice. Once on the inner circle, once on the outer. How do you know which one to use? Did the gage tell you?

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601  Před 2 lety

      You have to use the outside number because the rotary plate is too large to line up with the inside number

    I do have a question tho and it's a bit off topic but I put my stator on my 717 and now the thing backfires the front carb and the exhaust at the same time and won't hardly start. I even put the stator bolts in the middle and tightend it down. But it still does it. And I set my carbs right

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601  Před rokem +1

      Check your keyway on your flywill and make sure that it hasn't slipped because if it slips even with the stater in time the engine will be out of time

    When your saying if there’s deep groves in the plate it won’t have power in the water does that mean it won’t start in water? Picked a couple of these up from a family member and after i got them running good on the trailer went to the water and one doesnt start in water even if I have it running then put it in the water it dies. Do you think this could be the issue?

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601  Před 2 lety +1

      Highly unlikely the first thing you want to do when you get jet skis from somebody and don't know anything about them is you want to completely go through the carburetors check the pop-off pressures rebuild the carburetors with genuine parts do a fuel pressure check turn back the spark plug wires they are known for rotting away and causing issues new spark plugs drain all the old fuel out do a pressure check on the fuel system change the jet pump oil check the wearing check your oil lines on your engine to make sure they are not brittle do all of these things before you ever hit the lake otherwise you will just cost yourself a engine

    How does a sea food rotary jump timing without stripping or fusing gears?

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601  Před 11 měsíci

      The gear just has to get a little bit worn and it will go out of time and then come back in time then go out and then come in and that's because the gear is worn

    Its ok to flip the valve, but then it covers the other hole. So it does not matter which way to valve is flipped, nor which hole is open/closed?

    • @3DPeter
      @3DPeter Před rokem +2

      he flipped it upside down, but forgot to turn it 180 degrees. No matter witch side you use, always make sure you align the left straight edge to the 147 mark.

      @@3DPeter Right on, thats the point that none states clearly. Making sure the plate is not 180* out lol. Very crutial information to those that are not technicians.

      You have to have common sense you can flip the plate over but you cannot put the bottom of the plate at the top

    I have a 1990 587 yellow motor I have replace the magneto the flywheel it has a new carby fresh gasket kit, pistons appear good, I have timed the rotary valve at 130deg (from what I’ve found that’s what this model is) I have spark in both plugs which are brand new, I can not get it to start, I’ve tired the tricks with aero start in the carby also tried fuel, I get smoke come out the exhaust I did have a backfire was then told my timing is out so I again set this at TDC and got the valve at 130deg, I have a new and full charge battery and still nothing I get a little putter nothing really showing it attempting to actually kick over.
    My neck option is a fresh set of eyes having to pull the motor back out and take to local ski mechanic..
    What am I missing? Any tips that may help here again it’s a 1990 seadoo bombardier GT 587 yellow motor
    Cheers

    • @shannonwilliams601

      Because you have blow by and it's losing pressure same thing if you remove the O-ring from the outside

    • @kylegreen378
      @kylegreen378 Před rokem

      The fuel and air charge gets pushed past the valve, and back into the carb and intake. So, it gets charged with fuel again. So it will run like complete dogshit. You do not want flow reversion in your intake ever.
