my 1998 stx 1100 with cv carbs flood at initial cranking. so have turn over engine alot get it running. I installed primer last year but of course do not use it anymore cause just causes more flooding. Once i turn engine over much she will begin cranking on her own. Suggestion(s)
@@johnhowell5536 your pop off pressure is not set correctly and your needle is leaking into the throat of the carburetor
@@shannonwilliams601 what needs done to stop needle leaking into throat of carburetor? I recently purchased pop off pressure gauge
Love the video and love that you’re answering questions still🙏, I have this 97 gti as well that I bought a carb for. The carb I bought is one of those eBay one just like the one your showing with the accelerator pump. after slapping on the ski doesn’t wanna turn on, only way it’ll turn on is will heavy throttle upon cranking, and when you let go it’ll immediately die. Guess I have to tune the carb it looks like. The 97 gti didn’t come with accel pumps, seen on some forums it’s fine to run it as long as you use the 98 gti carb settings?
@@dsavage8751 when you hold the throttle open you're adding more are so if the accelerator pump is working and it's not set up for an accelerator pump it's squirting too much fuel and if it's Rich it will not run
@@shannonwilliams601 how can I tune it to stop squirting extra fuel
Velcro strap worked flawlessy, thx dude
You are the man! Thank you so much for your help.god bless you.
Ski was running before I changed lines. It won’t get fuel now. Do I still change even though it worked before
@@jakegilman1520 check to make sure all of your lines are on the right nipples in and out of the fuel selector the tank and the carburetor also make sure your line that produces pressure for the fuel pump is correct and not pinched
Great vid! Thanks a lot!!
Hey Chris, thanks for the video, can you confirm that if i pull the gray wire and it revs up, that its either the fuel or oil switch? or can it still be the stator? do you have a link on how to ohm out the stator? Mine is a 2001 polaris virage 2 cyl single carb, what happens if I just leave the wire off and run it? Thanks Tony
Why did you trim back the wire on spark plugs ?
@@LiLSweat54177 because on two-stroke jet skis the firing process breaks down the wire at the very end so what happens is you start to lose part of your spark because the wire is so far back from the end and brittle and people start tearing s*** apart and don't realize this is what it is
So I just got some 2001 gts seadoo off facebook one runs decent and hits around 43 but the other won’t go past 20 but it’s weird if you hit some good waves and you can get the rpms to rise all of a sudden the power kicks and it’ll haul ass until you let off the throttle or turn sharp then it’s back to half power I can’t figure it out any help is appreciated
@@caguilargagood idea keep riding it you'll blow the engine
I tested them once and your comment is less than helpful you should have just said nothing…
What size is that low speed jet ? My check valve was broken in my line. I bought a low speed jet today and it’s a 7.0
Your gift keeps on giving. My 1050 was hitting the limiter, maybe I can now get a few more seasons out of her. Does someone still make stators for these things? If it does go bad, can they be rebuilt? Thank you very much!!
Yes you can buy brand new stator from SBT out of Clearwater Florida
Great vid! Thank you! 🇺🇸
Hopefully you see this. 92 seadoo xp. Rebuilt the carbs. It surges at idle on the garden hose at times. On the water. Idle is about 1800 rpm when i open the throttle nothing happens. I have a primer installed. Priming it that thing drives like its perfect. Any ideas?
You should never have a primer on a two cylinder and if when you prime it it takes off and runs that means you're not getting enough fuel you want to make sure you change your fuel selector with a new one that you know is fit for ethanol fuel you cannot go buy a New Old Stock Sea-Doo one because they are not fit for ethanol and it will cut the fuel flow off pressure on your carburetors correct and used genuine Mikuni carb kits also you must check your fuel pressure to make sure that the tank is holding the correct amount of pressure otherwise it will not run correctly

My idle is really low in the water and the ski dies. Will adjusting it fix the idle problem?
Most 2-stroke jet skis idle off of the low speed jet
Man I just have to say your videos have saved me a lot of time thank you and plz keep posting
Been looking everywhere for a video this simple and informative, thanks!
I did exactly what you said. Low speed jet to a #50 and adjusted to 1/4 turn out I also tried 7/8 and a whole. The motor idles and then dies when I give it gas. Do you have any other suggestions?
Did you rebuild the carburetors and make sure that all your slides are opening correctly and spraying the same amount of fuel into the throat of the carburetor do you have your fuel tank pressure set right there's a lot more to it than just this
Hello, could yo tell me the adjust on a 96 yamaha wave venture 1100 2t i’ve Been looking info for a long time
1 1/8 low 7/8 high. +or- 1/4
I’ve got the same problem on a tiger shark 770. Oiler is deleted.. previous owner left sending unit for oil tank hooked up without bypassing switch so it thought it was out of oil. Fuel gauge also didn’t work. Would this be the same process on a tiger shark? I’m having issues getting full power then after a while of riding it, it will act like it’s down on a cylinder.
Trim back your plug wires start there first

I have a 900stx. I rebuilt it 2 years ago. It is difficult to start cold. This way of changing the jet and leaning out the pilot jet seems like a lot more fuel and would cause it to run very rich. How does it work now that you finished and run the ski?
Can’t you just put your hand over the car to choke it ?
Not if your air cleaner is installed
How did you find the timing number for the engine?
In the manual or online
Do y'all do ultra 150 graphics?

I actually didn’t know this. So what’s the variation between the skis that have the check valve and those that don’t? You said XPs but I’d rather know what specifically it is with that accelerator pump that’s different. I guess I’d need to know what the other models have that don’t need this check valve that makes the difference.
Just always check if you have a accelerator pump all the 720 single carb accelerator pump do have them and also the expy 787
Hi, will this cause air in the fuel lines when pumping the throttle?, i replaced fuel lines with clear ones not knowing about the little restrictor/check valve, and now when the engine is off when i pump the throttle i can see alot of air bubbles in the lines going to each carb
The fuel will backflow so the ski will not take off correctly in the water
Micro filters in carb are plugged. I had to figure mine out because the dealer mechanics were incompetent
I have a 2000 seadoo millenium fuel injected that starts on trailer and revs fine and starts in water but bogs down when trying to accelerate could this be my issue? Any info helps
Is it the RFI
I’d do a compression test. You can get skis with one bad hole to run just fine on a trailer but as soon as there is back pressure in the exhaust adding a load it falls on its face. If it’s fuel injection this is not your issue.
Good advice Chris
Should I be able to see fuel dripping into the carb from above? The one carb has fuel and the other carb is dry and the ski is running and as soon as a load is put on it (my body weight) it limps along
When the ski is idling on the trailer no you should not be able to see fuel dripping
Good short video explaining the exact problem! I hate this engine with a passion, I've worked on a few myself and all of them had cracked on that exact spot, one side or the other ( with the no power in water issue) I love sea doos myself, but wouldn't own another 2t sea doo.
Actually if this engine is maintained correctly it's a very reliable jet ski and if you go to 4 stroke you definitely want to stay away from Sea-Doo they are junk
What's the part number form pjmorotsports for the 50 jet?
If you have a primer with no choke plate and it runs away you can kill it by pumping the primer and flooding it. Done this many times and its never failed
I changed the low speed Jets over to number 50 and turned the jets alway in and backed them a quarter of a turn out unless it starts immediately the plugs get wet
OK turn the screws in a eighth of a turn
Excellent video. Do you work on jet skis for customers? Thanks, in advance, for your reply.

Can I install to carbs on my 717 ?
Yes that's not a problem all you do is change the intake manifold and then adjust the carbs accordingly
Ohh ok kool. I am asking because also there is no metering pump on my intake.
Hey Chris. I have a quick question. I have 1999 stx 1100. It is very sluggish in its mid range. Once it get to 6000 it takes off like a rocket. I clean the carb with some improvement. But still sluggish. It starts and idols ok. I put the 50 jets in but it would not run at 1/4 of a turn. Had to go to 3/4, and now it runs and idols. But I have not water tested it yet, just wondering why I had to go to 3/4s??? Does that mean anything. Thanks.
Did you check your fuel tank pressure Kawasaki's art known for the gas cap cracking and releasing the pressure also the threads that the cap screws onto and there is a one way check valve on top of the tank that goes bad you have to be able to hold pressure or you will plow the engine up running lean
And you don't want to clean a carburetor you want to rebuild it with good name brand kids don't use cheap kits you will have nothing but issues
@@shannonwilliams601 I will double check. And let you know.
@@shannonwilliams601 I tried to rebuild, but could not find any good kits for the cv carbs. I also watched shady tree jetski video, and the kits I did buy were crap. So that’s why I “cleaned”. Vs. rebuild. That’s also why I tried the rejetting before I switch to cdck2 carbs. The does run, and gets up to top speed. Just slow between 4000 to 6000 rpm’s
@@shannonwilliams601 performance did improve with the cleaning. But still sluggish. I have a spare set of cv carbs I can take parts off of if needed. If the was a fuel pressure leak, would it still get to wide open throttle? It will hit top speed 51-52, but slow to get there, between 4000 and 6000 rpm’s. Between 6000-7000, acceleration is great. I feel like it’s just not getting enough gas in the mid range. The slides are moving. Is there a way to adjust the amount of gas during mid range? I heard about putting washers on the needle valve but not sure about it. Thanks for the help

I have a 1990 587 yellow motor I have replace the magneto the flywheel it has a new carby fresh gasket kit, pistons appear good, I have timed the rotary valve at 130deg (from what I’ve found that’s what this model is) I have spark in both plugs which are brand new, I can not get it to start, I’ve tired the tricks with aero start in the carby also tried fuel, I get smoke come out the exhaust I did have a backfire was then told my timing is out so I again set this at TDC and got the valve at 130deg, I have a new and full charge battery and still nothing I get a little putter nothing really showing it attempting to actually kick over. How does a sea food rotary jump timing without stripping or fusing gears?
The gear just has to get a little bit worn and it will go out of time and then come back in time then go out and then come in and that's because the gear is worn
What’s a good primer to buy? I’m looking through a bunch of Amazon reviews and most if not all are from China and suck. Most complaints are about the check valves not holding.
