    For anyone watching this please do not ice overnight. Icing should be at a 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off alternating each hour. If you leave ice on your body before going to bed you can burn and severely damage the skin or wounds that are present from the surgery resulting in further complications. Always use a barrier between ice and skin as well!

    Marcus, Good morning. thanks for the video info. 3rd day after my surgery and was curious if you were provided with the black sling your wearing in this video or did you purchase that yourself?

    • @marcusaurelius161
      @marcusaurelius161  Před 8 lety

      I had to purchase the sling myself (though insurance helped with some of the cost). Good luck with your recovery!

      Thanks. I kind of got a rinky dink one after the surgery. Hopefully I'll pick up a better one this week. Just also curious did the anesthesiologist have to install a breathing tube down your throat for your procedure? Any side effects after surgery. Anxiously waiting on my ice machine now.

    I also took off my sling when I sleep as what the doctor told me and I had the same experience as you I had a vivid dream and suddenly I moved my arm(surgical side) and it hurts.

    Hey Marcus, im on day 5 of my SLAP tear as well. Doc told me not to move my arm at all until next week when they pull the stitches out. im worried about a frozen shoulder, im able to squeeze a stress ball and do a half assed attempt at a bicep curl with it. is this to be expected or should i be taking my arm out a few times a day to stretch my bicep and elbow a bit? have an array of questions but just kind of worried I may not be where i need to be.

      @marcusaurelius161  Před 5 lety +1

      I didn't have the remplissage procedure, so I can't really speak to that. I did choose to take my arm out of the sling occasionally to extend it at the elbow, but did so cautiously. Maybe try the same thing? Having said that, I would strongly encourage you to follow the doc's directions so you don't have to go through it again. Good luck with your recovery and thanks for supporting the series!

      Marcus Aurelius well I’m on week 10 now! I have movement and most of my rotation however I’m still very week and still having a lot of popping and cracking due to instability I’m hoping over the next few weeks I’ll get stronger but this is such a long road and process. I was told it will be a 8-9 month process.

    I hope this finds you well. I had a question and know noone that has gone through this. I'm going in on Wednesday for surgery, posterior extensive labrum repair, 12-6 position if not more by now, paralabral cyst, bursitis clean up, and shaving collar bone. How long after the surgery were you able to ride in a car, not drive but as a passenger. My son has an allstar baseball tournament starting Saturday after my surgery, which I plan on missing that game, but could have more the following week, and I'm trying to gauge if I will miss all of it, or I may catch a game or two. Any info would be appreciated.

      Was the nerve damage from the surgery or the dislocations?

    • @corollinout

      @marcusaurelius161 I can't say for sure, I know it worked prior to surgery though.

    I am only about 10 days post op. Did your left arm look like it was still lower than your right after surgery? Also at times my arm feels like it is going to come out of its socket and I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

    • @marcusaurelius161
      @marcusaurelius161  Před 7 lety +1

      All of what you described is "normal" and I experienced both as well (freaked me out at the time, too). Your shoulder is healing and your body is getting used to the "new you". Give it time and being unbroken will feel "normal". Check out "Ricardo Mejia Z"s comment on my 14-month update video. You'll see you're not the only one feeling the way you are now. Good luck on your recovery!

Took my sling off and took a bath now she is throbbing decided to take my first pain pill helping a little but definitely hurt and still do you think I may have messed up

    • @marcusaurelius161
      @marcusaurelius161  Před 3 lety

    • @marcusaurelius161
      @marcusaurelius161  Před 8 lety +1

      +halojesus14 I would encourage you to watch the whole series of videos I did on this recovery of mine, I put a playlist together on my channel to make it easy to follow. For me, I took the arm out of the sling only when stationary such as watching television from the couch. Anytime I got up to move around I always had it slung for the first few weeks. After a while I got annoyed with the sling and took it out more often, but it's all about preference and feel. Good luck with your recovery!

      +Marcus Aurelius thank you, Marcus. Yes I've been watching all of the series in the playlist ! Really has helped understand what I'm going through a lot more! Thank you so much for the uploads! Hope everything is going well for you now. expect me to ask more questions in the future! Ahah thanks again. I appreciate the quick response

      +halojesus14 Everything is very well with me now, thanks. You are welcome for the uploads. When I was searching before my own surgery there was very little out there so I decided it might be a good idea (and fun) to track myself for others. Ask the questions when you have them and I'll help however I can. Heal quickly!

      I was not instructed to do so. I think there was a communication breakdown between the surgeon and the PT place. I'm fine now, though. Thanks for supporting the channel!
