I know this might be a little different than this video, I'm 40 years old and I was struggling with a lot of pain on both of my hips; after having an MRI, my labrum was damaged beyond it could be repaired, I had both cam and pincer types of FAI, after evaluating between hip reshaping, resurfacing and hip replacement, my wife and I decided to go with bilateral hip replacement with a anterior approach, I had it done about 5 weeks ago, and I'm so happy to have had the surgery, it was hard to move around for the first couple weeks, but I'm Blessed that I'm almost 100% with mobility, I have no restrictions, I have no pain at all, my back is not sore anymore, and the recovery has been quite rapid; thanks to Dr. Pomeroy and all the Orthoindy staff, they were amazing all through this process.

That’s great recovery. Hip replacement has a faster recovery than labral tear recovery. You can start walking right after hip replacement you can’t walk for a month after labral tear. Wishing you all the best get out there and enjoy those new titanium babies

My right hip has been snapping cracking and popping for just over 10yrs now and has gotten so much worse, bow my left is doing the same. I have been fighting to get a diagnosis for all these years and FINALLY was dx with a torn riggt hip labrum and am meeting a surgeon in 2wks and so happy to he at this point. The pain in my hips are unbearable at times. When my hip pops it feels like the whole hip shofts out of place and i drop. Now, i know its not actually moving out of place, but i cant take it anymore. So when i came across your videos about this i was happy to see a before & after, basically. I know the surgery isnt going to fix me 100%, i know its going to suck, but i also have osteoarthritis in my hips, so idk if it will be this surgery or a replacment surgery because im so damaged.
Thank you for being honest about the recovery process, the cons of the surgery, everything. I appreciate it because youve givencmore insight than what google can provide

I think the hardest part for me in the beginning was not being able to run at all or workout without being in pain. I was medically discharged from the military last Friday.
Overall, for me, I’m in more pain now than before my surgery in 2021. I did not have lower back or leg pains before this and now some days even walking around is very painful…..

It's great to hear other people's experiences, and I wish I'd done more research pre-surgery as I may have decided against it, despite 12 months of conservative treatments, physio and PT not working. I'm 18 months post hip arthroscopy with labral repair and reduction of the femoral head, and still not better. In some ways it's improved, but in others, not at all. I'll probably need a replacement at some stage, but super worried about that because the recovery from this has been horrendous and it's apparently far less invasive than the arthroscopic repair. I can't run at all - not even 10 meters without pain. I do work out, and can use the cross trainer, stepper and spin bike at least, but pain is constant day in, day out. The underlying cause for me is EDS though, so each person's situation is unique.

Thanks for sharing this. I had my hip arthroscopy done in DEC 2021 and I completely regret having it done. My pain levels are worse now than it was before the surgery. Before my surgery i didn’t have any problems walking up and down stairs. And also, I had no lower back pain before. But now, it’s difficult to go up and down stairs. And sometimes very difficult to walk around.

I’m recovering from my 2nd right hip arthroscopy in 2 years and the recovery is going so slow. I’m behind on my protocol and still can’t walk without crutches for anything more than 2 minutes. I get pain in my groin when I try to. Thank you for all your videos! I’m hoping this pain goes away because before the surgery it hurt to walk at all. I’m scared I’m just gonna always have pain when I walk

Hi Holly... I don't know if you'll see this, but I'm contemplating hip surgery after my baby is born. I had some back issues 2 years ago and bought a teeter inversion table, have you ever tried one of those? I am sure it helped heal my herniated disc as well as relieve some of my hip pain. I cannot use it right now due to being pregnant, but boy I sure want to. I no longer have much back pain. I still have hip issues though. The teeter got me walking again though! Well I hope things are going well for you. Thanks for these videos I will return to them in a few months.

  • @zakazan8561
    @zakazan8561 Před 2 lety +6

it sounds like you have some problems with your core stability in regards to your back and perhaps there's some scar tissue in your hips that needs to be worked out. The hip is just one piece of the puzzle and there are many things that can contribute to back pain that aren't addressed in physical therapy. It may just be the way you're sitting, but your shoulders do seem a little rounded forward to me, and something like that can definitely contribute to back pain. This is called upper cross syndrome. In regards to the hip, that could be a mobilization issue due to scar tissue build up and a massage therapist / lots of mobility work might be able to work that out. You could also have some dysfunction in your pelvic floor due to the labral tears. You can also get a foam roller and roll your quads and hams and get a thera cane or a massage ball to push on trigger points.
Some things you can look up and try them out to see if you can find some relief:
Trigger point therapy / myofascial release
Anti flexion anti rotation core exercises
    Upper Cross Syndrome Corrective Exercises
    Stuart McGill
    Foam rolling
    Kinetic chains
    Pelvic Floor Physical therapy
In my own experience treating my own pain, I found that I best reduced pain by looking at my body as an entire unit, instead of focusing on one part and thinking all my problems came from that part. As always with any exercise, start very slow and very light and build your way up slowly. Also, in my experience, the medical professionals I've seen in regards to my pain have been inadequate in treating it, it's just something I had to research for myself and figure out myself.

I love the way you have explained everything in detail!! I am48 had a hip replacement done in Feb , I am getting better slowly but still the mobility is not that great as due to muscle weakness I am still limping and my knee hurts my surgeon gave me a steroid shot in the knee to help me rehabilitate my hip as he said the week muscles from the thigh are hitting the knee cap .But to be honest 3 months down and it still hurts during and after exercise and I take a painkiller to reduce the pain .
I am hoping that this goes away soon and I will be pain free

Have you tried trigger point injections manipulative massage chiropractic adjustments custom orthotics? From what I understand anytime you have a hip manipulated. It’s not going to match the other side perfectly and everything kind of starts with your feet.. i’ve also noticed certain foods make my joints hurt like tomato anything. Catch-up. Actual plain tomato. And everything in between. One tomato will make my joints pop and hurt for a week. And some people like pasta pizza red sauce well I try to avoid it. and it’s impossible to avoid wheat barley and rye, but there are studies that show avoiding them is likely to reduce inflammation in your spinal cord. I need a magic pill that allows me to eat a bland fuel diet, and forget that food tastes good.

I still have very little hope because of the pain I have is still the same pain point. The flare ups maybe less of an unactive person. Ive been taking it easier since my hip/back issue. But I like to be active and thats an issue. I may be looking for another solution to my issue.

I had a surgery too on my left leg, and the quads felt fine for 3 months, but one day started to be tight (?) in a way that makes me think sometimes my left leg is bigger than the non-operated one, and eventually hurts a bit when I walk for too much... How come it felt fine in the first place and now gone worse :(
