Its my third day after the surgery and im not feeling any pain whatsoever ur vids have helped me alot on building confidence before the surgery and im nw aiming to work on that confidence to regain my spot in the sport that i was playing on a pro lvl THANKS
My husband just had his surgery on Monday 11/2/2020 and I was not able to fly home to take care of him so my brother in law is playing nurse at the house and seeing your recovery videos is definitely giving me peace of mind (or stressing me out I'm not sure yet but, ) Thank you!
@Marcus Aurelius Hii Marcus, first of all let me tell how amazing and helpful your series has been. Its been roughly 8 days since surgery. I still feel my shoulder being loose and I get a little bit of the sense of instability when there is any awkward motions. Is it normal or is it something to be worried about??
Hey man I just got my surgery 6 days ago and I woke up with a bit of pain that I didn’t have so you think I should be concerned ? It isn’t severe but I definitely feel it when I move around .
Just had bankart surgery on my right shoulder on Nov 6. I hardly wear the sling, do take advil and work on pendulum swings twice a day and do some stretches that they taught me at physical therapy. The message I keep hearing a lot is to keep the arm moving so that is why I don't wear the sling. Side note, I cant lift my arm up and sleeping is horrible. I did notice my operative shoulder seems to pop out a bit more. Wondering if you notice that a bit with your shoulder? It's not red or anything just notice that it sticks out a bit more in comparison to the left shoulder.
+Zach Malcore No easy or comfortable way to do this. Just build the bed up with pillows and do what you can to get some sleep. In my early videos you can kind of see how I have it set up (Hours after and Day 2 I believe).
Only other question I have is the nerve block. I have had it before but don't remember how long they do it for. Is it a quick shot? All I remember is it really hurts
For my nerve block they actually gave me conscious sedation so I do not remember any of it. I would assume they would do the same for you, however if they do not yes it does hurt I've heard.
Hey Marcus, I am getting surgery for my torn labrum a week from today. I'm mainly nervous about the nerve block and the pain following once it wears off. What was the nerve block procedure like? How was the pain when it wore off? Thank you.
Great question! When I went in for the procedure, they gave me enough medication that I do not recall ANY of the nerve-block process. In fact, I only remember them putting in the IV needle. As far as it wearing off, I would compare that to the "pins and needles" feeling you get when your foot falls asleep, only more powerful. About 100 times more powerful. And it lasted, for me anyway, somewhere between 1 and 3 hours (can't remember exactly). Yes, it's painful, but not in the way you're expecting. More of annoyance, like when your foot falls asleep. I hope that helps! You'll do great and you'll also be VERY glad you had the procedure. Good luck and keep us posted! Thanks for supporting the series!
Marcus Aurelius Just had the surgery today, ended up getting delayed. I was terrified but it ended up being nothing to worry about. I was scared of the nerve block, and now I have absolutely no memory of it, or even switching rooms to go to the OR. Only thing I remember is waking up pain free. The nerve block has been wearing off, I'd put it at about 80% off right now, the pain is intense in short spurts, but relatively manageable as long as I'm still. Thank you for making this series, it really helped me understand the process and what's ahead, and has given me more comfort through this journey. You're the man!
Hello! Im on day 6 since my surgery. I would like to ask if you ever feel like your shoulder gonna get out since day 6. I feel that about 3 times when i do a fast movement.
Hey Marcus. I'm getting my surgery done this month on the 22nd. You know Christmas is a few days after. Do you think I'll be able to go to Christmas stuff?
+Zach Malcore Yes, you will be able to have fun with Christmas activities. If you open presents, you may have to ask someone to help rip the paper with you. You may also be on pain medication still, so drinking alcohol may be out of the question (shame, too, since there will probably be egg nog *mmmm*). Most likely you'll be spending the day(s) with people who love and support you, so you should be fine. And if the question turns to the road to recovery and what that looks like, you can show them this video series! I can't think of a better way to spend the holiday . . . (shameless self-promotion, HAHA!). Good luck and don't rush yourself back. I will also answer any other questions you may have during the recovery! Merry Christmas!
How did you get your arm out of sling to put a shirt on? My doc told me no movement till next appointment and I want to wash and dress myself thank you
I got my labrum surgery done 7 days ago. I hang out with my friends and stuff but I can feel the cracking sensation in my join when I move around to quick or shrug my shoulders to fast. When I don’t move, I don’t really feel pain. My back is tired from the sling. Do you have and ideal sleeping position? Or any excercise a I can do a week in to help stretch’s some muscles.
Try pulling your shoulder blades together (shoulders back). Strengthen those upper-back muscles and fix your posture. That will help a LOT. I slept a lot on my back in the beginning of recovery. Thanks for supporting the series!
Not a dumb question at all. Yes, I was able to, but I had to lean and I used Wet Ones, baby wipes, etc. Not soap and water, definitely. Thank you for the support of the series!
@@marcusaurelius161 I'm having surgery on the 12th. Figured showering would be tricky for a few days so I bought wipes. I'm nervous as shit, never had surgery before plus all the horror stories I've heard & hearing about yours in the past didn't help either. 😐
Hi Marcus, I'm day 8. I've been doing well from surgery. Moved from sofa to the bed last night and in my sleep I really jolted during a dream and the pain I received was immense. I definitely hit where the labrum has been repaired as the pain feels the same as pre-operation pains. Do you think this may cause a problem or have you accidentally done things similar that caused pain by accident
Like the doctor told me, you should be fine. It would take another traumatic event (car accident, falling down stairs, etc.) to undo what they've done. Do what you can to immobilize that joint while you sleep! Good luck with your recovery and thanks for checking out the videos!
I’m on day 8 and It didnt really hurt that much for me probably cause of the meds, it only hurt for a slight moment when i accidentally move it a bit too quickly
Hi Marcus! I just had my surgery 3 days ago! I look forward to watching your videos here. Definitely need the inspiration. More Power to You!
I'm glad it has offered a point of reference for you. Good luck.

I'm glad it has offered a point of reference for you. Good luck.

SUPER normal. I found that a lot of mine was actually mental. I talk about that in my 14-month update video. Thanks for supporting the series!
Thanks

Inflammation and swelling can make things look different. Thanks for supporting the series!
Going in for Bankart procedure in Jan. Scared beyond no end. Love my surgeon...but its on my dominant arm...
Hope you're good now! Thanks for supporting the series!
Hey Marcus. I'm at roughly week and few days after. How do u suggest I sleep? I have to keep the sling on when I sleep

Hello! Im on day 6 since my surgery. I would like to ask if you ever feel like your shoulder gonna get out since day 6. I feel that about 3 times when i do a fast movement.
Yes, that feeling is normal. Lots of things healing in there, so take it easy and do your best to have slow, gentle movements.

How did you get your arm out of sling to put a shirt on? My doc told me no movement till next appointment and I want to wash and dress myself thank you
It wasn't easy. Button-up shirts are much easier. If you need to wear a shirt, start there. Thanks for supporting the series!

Am very nervous going tomorrow 14th Tuesday by God grace . Did my covid test yesterday Sunday waiting for my results
I'm glad this video series has offered a point of reference for you. Good luck with your recovery!
Dumb question but were you able to clean your left arm pit at all during the first week?
Not a dumb question at all. Yes, I was able to, but I had to lean and I used Wet Ones, baby wipes, etc. Not soap and water, definitely. Thank you for the support of the series!

How painful is it when you just get out of surgery??
Not too bad. The nerve block wearing off wasn't fun, but my first day of physical therapy hurt worse than anything to do with the surgery.

hi marcus can you sugges proper diet plan after bankart repait
Diet really doesn't matter with this injury/surgery anymore than it would on a normal day to day basis. Just stick with what's been working.
Hey does it hurt after a week or is it only when u move it
Your body is healing from trauma. It may hurt, it may not. Thanks for supporting the series!
after 2 days I don t use the sling....it matter s? headaches naussea because of the anestessia
Yes, the sling matters! Consult your doctors for other symptoms, please.
Arm feels heavy I'm not sure how it should be feeling after in days 4 after surgery
Heavy is normal. Keep doing what the doc and PT tell you. Thanks for supporting the series!
marcus can i travel after 7 days bankart repair
I had a friend to hopped on a plane a week after his surgery, so I would guess that it would be OK. Of course, you should always ask your doctor.
