- Into week 5 through week 6 there are some additions and alternatives. Active swinging of the arm in walking is ok but keep the distance and speed to minimum. Did I say band work? I meant pole. Lol.
▶️ WATCH OUT for the quick movements
▶️ THINK twice before you reach
Patients need to stay careful, ‘patient’ and HANG IN THERE. It’s only week 6. Chill.
1️⃣ PAROM (Passive-assisted ROM) Flexion with pole / wand IN STANDING
2️⃣ Circumduction / Circles
3️⃣ Arm swing movement with walking
4️⃣ AAROM (Acitve-assisted ROM) Flexion with pole / wand in supine

I had my dominate shoulder replaced 6 weeks ago and lost my insurance 1 week ago when my company closed shop PHASE 1 complete. These videos are getting me through 5 through 8 before I'm approved for Medicaid....Thank you!
I am at day 3 post op. For those of you who are contemplating this surgery, its no joke at all and not an easy recovery, so make damn sure you need it. for comparison, i have had 3 knee surgeries and all were mostly healed by week 6. With rotator cuff, at week 6 you are just beginning any real strength increase and have many weeks to go, if you actually work for a living, you are no where close to returning to work. if you run a computer, then its no big deal i suppose.
Hope your recovery went well. I am at 5 weeks come Thursday. I have a follow up tomorrow I imagine I'll be able to come out of my sling. My injury is from a work comp situation. Labor work my dr said it will be months before I can return to full duty
@@philipvaughan320 , you could be one of the lucky ones and may get paid to stay home because of work comp. after its all said and done, in a few months, look back and ponder how long you were off work, and think about the money you would have needed, and gone through, if you were not getting compensation !
This guy is brilliant for recovery and exercising once you’ve been injured.
Keep the videos coming Tim 👍
Thanks, will do!
Resistance bands are also phenomenal! I'd even say that it was better. I was able to do a push up after 5 weeks.
I suspect the reason is: I'm 45 am in excellent ahapem I liftes weights 4-5 days a week while torn. I just primarily used the cable machine. My cuff was torn for sometime, but through it all I still lifted weights and it actually got easier overtime still had pain.
So now I think my supportive muscles are so strong, that it makes it easier. But I'm not pushing it.
Any thoughts?
Brilliant, had no one to really give me good info..thanks mate, Lyn ❤❤
I am at the 6 week mark and the VA here like most places is overwhelmed by COVID so my surgeon told me 2 weeks ago I was grossly behind. Since watching your videos I have caught up completely by following your regiment ... thank you for sharing your journey you have helped this old soldier
Glad that helped! My full program is on the website here: www.physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab
Week 5 1/2 in my recovery from my shoulder surgery. Physical Therapy became expensive quickly and I felt pinned between saving my money and healing my shoulder. Your videos are so helpful, and I'm really considering entering your program. It also makes me feel better to see you carrying your arm with such care in these videos because it makes me realize how many other people have gone through this same thing. Although this has been so difficult, it's good to know we can heal. Thank you Tim!
Glad you found it. Hope the program goes well for you
Thank you for the great series. I'm at week seven and have hit that first breakthrough phase of healing. My external weakness is causing the winging out of the elbow during flexion. So I have found out that because I'm in a pain-free phase I still have to be very careful at finding my limitations of strength and movement. Your videos show me that I'm right where I'm supposed to be. Thanks again.
Hope the recovery goes well :) if you need further guidance our shoulder surgery rehab program is available at physiorehab.com
I also thought he was Beckman when I first saw him. Anyway this video caught my eye bc my therapist had me doing three directions with the stick. I thought it wasn't doing much but now I'm having joint soreness, so maybe I need to try it again.
Tim your videos help me a lot with my shoulder surgery recovery. I'm out of the shoulder sling at week five. I started my isometric exercise now and doing well. But you're right no sudden movement you will feel some pain...!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
That’s great - have a look at my rehab program: www.physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab
Just super. I learn something new every time. If I can teach the restraint and patience you demonstrate to my patients that would be the icing on the cake. Thanks Tim.
pleasure! - hope you can help your patients with this
i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?

@Theo Skylar it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
Thank you
You’re welcome
It’s funny how every dr has different protocols for slings and PT! I’m at over 6 weeks out(supraspinatus near full thick tear repair)..but my dr told me to ditch the sling at 2 weeks! Had me start PT at same time…where I’ve heard others keep sling on up to 5 or 6 weeks and then PT?? I’m sure others maybe had more extensive repairs..but just crazy how dr’s differ in care management🤔
Does depend on the surgery
@ 2:47 the way he was flailing his arm around 😆😆😆.
Will you do a week 6-8 laterjet pt exercise video please
Good movements. The last one though, I’ve been doing since week 2-3 😬
Stick at it - time is needed
Over 90 degrees is not recomended first 4 weeks. He went about 120 at 6th week.
A golf club would be perfect!
Great video, been through it recently, great video, I’m into month 6 and 1 week, back in the gym training careful but always paranoid I’ll retear it. It’s a long mental journey for sure. I want to body build agin I’m 46.

How at 5 weeks? I'm still in extreme pain after surgery I'm at 5 weeks still on heavy medication 😮
It depends on the surgery as well. I suggest you follow our shoulder surgery rehab program for the best advice, exercises and a detailed plan to guide you though each week. Head to physiorehab.com/programs
G8 videos. My son is at 6 weeks post op for retraction of subscapularis/full thickness tear. Has no pain on any movement. Awaiting physio rehab plan from post op review at 8 weeks. But feel he iscreasy now. What to do.
Go to physiorehab.com and have a look at the shoulder surgery rehab program
I’m on my 6th week and doing the same exercise
Ok! Perhaps you should follow my rehab program online! www.physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab
Hi! I’ve had the same surgery, same shoulder, going through my 3 - 4 week and I feel I can do some of this movements , been stretching and using the squeeze ball every day, also using the cold therapy system at home, as well therapy in the clinic but is mostly stimulations, my question is: is there any risk if I feel I can go ahead the time of recovery? I feel normal pain but no deep like the first or second week, when doing exercises in some point this pain reduces but of course the muscles around start feeling pain.
Don’t rush it. Best way to stay in track is a proper rehab program. Have a look at mine: www.physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab
