    Hi hello, thank you for this video - just one question what the distance from 35mm hoke centre to the edge of the door please?

    Hi, how far should be the cup of the hinge from edge of the door & how far the mounting plate from the edge of the cabinet wall? Please reply. Thanks

    Wow, great job. Love the vid. Of the many I have sorted through, you are the only one I have seen that shows the actual mounting plate fastened to the inside of the cabinet. Was there a template that gave you the exact placement of everything? Impressive clearance on the doors, awesome.

      Hi, Yep a lot of the videos online skip through some of the detail, I try to show as much as poss but trying to keep the video at an acceptable length at the same time,
      no there is no template, There might be one available but they are really simple, I'll put a short video up later with a bit more detail. Thankyou

    Helpful vid! Are you using a normal blum hinge on a thick door or those special blum hinges made for thicker doors?

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 3 lety

      Thanks 👍 I put a link for the hinges in the description of this vid but it doesn't work any more, the site must have changed it, I've changed the link to the one i have bookmarked on my PC, cabinet hinges for doors 16-32mm thick www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/product/blum-clip-top-thick-door-soft-close-cabinet-hinge-95-inset-pair-784701

    while i have now followed your instructions i now have about a 1/4 gap on the non hinge side. I cant adjust to hide the gap either. Is there a hidden requirement of door width i did not know about because these doors fit fine with the hinges that mount on the outside. thoughts?

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 6 lety

      Hi, the adjustment on these hinges is not much, 5mm-ish, is the adjustment screw on your hinge at it's max?
      A standard kitchen unit has a door that is approx 5mm smaller than the outside size of the cabinet, so a 600mm cabinet will have a door 595mm, that's fitting with overlay hinges,

    • @kennethpappas

      Gid joiner adjusted to the max..

      What is the opening of your cupboard, the width of the door, how far in is the hole for the hinge, & are you using 35mm inset or overlay hinges,?

    • @kennethpappas
      @kennethpappas Před 6 lety

      The door is 19 1/2" while the opening is 17 3/4". I cannot understand HOW I have a gap?

    Hi , can you use these thick door cabinet hinges on 22mm doors with 18mm carcasses . Doors will be several side by side in a overlay . ?
    Thanks

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před rokem

      Hi, 6yrs since i used these, the 35mm hole is the same as other concealed cabinet doors so I don't see why not, The doors I normally make are 20-22mm with reg concealed hinges, 22mm is pushing it a little with reg hinges tho, The bookmark link has changed but these are from Ironmongery where i got the ones in the vid, 16-32mm it says www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/search?query=cabinet%20door%20hinges , don't forget to buy the mounting plates.😉👍

    Nice margins. If you were doing a face frame kitchen would you use this method as well as opposed to butt hinges? I'm going to make mine but I'm not sure on that detail as yet. I thought about doing what you are doing here or having the face frame overhang the carcass on the inside and use butt hinges... thanks for the videos.

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 6 lety

      I give the option to my customers,
      These concealed hinges have soft close or push to open, they don't need a catch to hold them shut & have lots of adjustment to get the door straight in the frame, They can sag a little over time tho & need about 65mm to mount the plate on the inside,
      I use butt hinges on a job like you mentioned where there is a frame overhanging, i just built a kitchen like that, -

      I buy catches like these from my local hardware store to go with the butt hinge option, very strong, small & neat,

      Thanks for the reply. I'm not on Facebook so couldn't look, maybe there's a way. The sagging issue is something to think about it.

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 6 lety

      No problem, I think the sagging is more with cheap hinges & maybe the old quality type, these are quite good & if they do sag in a few yrs they're cheap enough to change but yeah i like & tell my customers that the butt hinges will last a lifetime, 😉
      Facebook is easy to join, you only need an email address, the rest you can make up, My real name isn't Gid & my mate is on as an 80yr old woman 😃 , your choice tho of course,

      Hi, they are 35mm concealed cabinet hinges for thick doors, the holes are 35mm, they open 95° to the cabinet.
