    The "old way" or "raw" on how to place some cabinet hinges, without fancy and costly or time-expensive jigs - Just YOU, a TAPEMEASURE (you spoke in milimeters *_* ), some helpfull sharp pencil - and of course, the hinge, screws and a driver....
    the most quality video i've found on this after searching for days, better than the big subs and viewed channels!

    I have watched so many concealed hinges sites , but yours is the best, you talk your way through each section and especially the mounting plate. Everyone forgets the mounting plate so its just half the job. You explain and demonstrate each stage. Will definately watch more of your videos.

      Hi, concealed hinges tend to get overlooked here because they are often pre-fitted, I'm fitting some, more in a short while, I'll show as much as poss 😉
      or in videos people glaze over some of the steps of the process of building, I try to explain my thoughts & reasons for my decisions/actions as if someone was stood next to me trying to learn, showing as much detail as my phone camera will allow 🙃

    So I've just built a media wall with cupboards and wanted to know how to fit concealed hinges.
    .
    I watched three 12-15min videos on how to do this, fancy jigs, makeshift jigs, fancy workshop etc and was still none the wiser... And then I found this video. No nonsense, straight to the point excellence.

    Me again have fitted all my kitchen cupboard hinges using your technique and looks and feels professional. My husband built the cupboard’s from scratch as we had run short on money. It has been a hard slog but well worth it. We now have to start watching how to cut worktops it cant be that hard lol.

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 5 lety +1

      👍👍 Good, Hand made units can sometimes be better than the shop bought things,
      I'm not sure my video on worktop fitting is complete or clear but there's loads on YT, once you understand how the joint goes together it isn't that hard with a jig, (they can be hired if you don't have one ) the hardest bit i think is the nerves, you're cutting into a piece that costs lots of money n one mistake isn't repairable, best of luck with that, maybe practice on scrap board, it doesn't have to be the same thickness as the worktops.👍😊
      & i like to buy a new ½" router cutter for each worktop job, I've found these cutters are quite good www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-straight-router-cutter-12-7-x-50-8mm/26592
      Let me know how it goes, Thanks

    OK, I already knew how to use a forster bit. I wanna know , is there a trick to marking out where the hinge has go to go on the door, I dont have enough hands to hold the door up to the cupboard, hold the hinge up where it's meant to go and mark it

    Thanks
    Very helpful.
    Is there a reason why the 35mm hole on the door should not be drilled 1/8" closer to the edge?
    The template I have marks it so that the hinge is about 1/4" from the edge of the door.
    Anyone?

    • @Gidjoiner
      @Gidjoiner  Před 5 lety

      Hi, 1/4" seems quite a lot but these hinges are all a fairy standard size, if your jig works fine then so be it but sometimes this distance depends a little on the thickness of the doors, I always do a test cut using scrap with the same dimensions of the wood from the project first & adjust it accordingly,
      Thanks Frank 👍

      @Gidjoiner  Před 4 lety

      Hi, it depends on the job, i can get Hettich hinges from my board suppliers, good hinges but they can be a little expensive, Hafele from screwfix are reasonably cheap, good hinges & their shop is local, If i want something a little more elaborate like hinges for thick doors i use Ironmongery-direct, all these shops do inset or overlay www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/product/blum-clip-top-profile-thick-door-cabinet-hinge-95-sprung-inset-pair-806058
