    Hello there Henry Wilson here. I was dry stone Waller for 30 years. I did jobs for some people and they told me what a good job I was doing. Then when I finish the job they wouldn't pay. • @3dvorator
      @3dvorator Před 3 lety +1

      it's everything in balance actually cuz where heavy pieces of equipment are involved, big business is too... a 300k bucks big excavator doesn't work for 50 dollars/hour, a big farm has actually a couple million dollar in equipment...they don't care about a 5k bucks repair,I guess buddy

    • @TheSagerider
      @TheSagerider Před 3 lety +1

      @@3dvorator
      I know you are correct about that, big business is big bucks. Me, I am just a regular retired guy dicking around in his yard, sort of what I call a big yard here in Montana.
      I have a 2010 John Deere 318D wheeled skid steer and a 1967 Ford 3000 diesel tractor that I just finished an engine rebuild on inspired by watching Warren.
      I saved about 5 to 6 k doing all the work myself except for the machine work and parts, when your dealing with a small three cylinder parts are not so bad.
      There is just something about heavy equipment that every American male can relate to since day one out playing in the dirt. I would love to have a mini
      excavator but I have very little to zero use for one. I imagine I could find something to use it for like digging a small pond in the south pasture but renting one
      makes more sense to me. I really love my skid steer and use it all the time specially for snow removal. I got it because two years ago we got a pretty good
      dump here and the Ford was just not cutting it, the Ford is great for brush hog and post hole digging work though.
      When it comes right down to it it is all about the prospective.

    One of the reasons we all enjoy watching your videos is the fact that it's obvious you like to help people, otherwise, you would not feel bad about not being able to spend all your time giving folks free advice over the phone.
    Unfortunately, you are absolutely right that many folks don't seem to understand that at least 80% of what you pay a good mechanic & troubleshooter for is their experience. Any goober can turn a wrench & swap parts in hopes of fixing an issue but a guy, like you, with excellent troubleshooting skills and decades of experience is worth paying more because it saves money in the long run since you can diagnose the issue very quickly & the "problem" only has to be fixed once.
    Everyone needs a bit of advice now & then but the folks who figure they should just be able to call you and expect that you will troubleshoot their issues over the phone for no charge know better, they are just hoping you will be easy-going enough to do 80% of their work for them because they are clueless about how to effectively troubleshoot a system. I don't think you should feel bad about ranting to us about it. It is wrong of them & you ought to just get yourself a CC app on your phone & when one of those turkeys calls, you should just tell them "No problem, my remote troubleshooting & mechanic's advice rate is $125.00/hour, with a one hour minimum charge. Give me a credit card number and we can get started.

Or you’re on CZcams anyways right? There’s bunches of how to’s guides and walkthroughs for just about everything. Anything I know now has come from a lot of web surfing and first hand experience (I know enough to get me in trouble half the time) eventually after obsessively searching over tsb’s, forums, write ups and tinkering I’m able to get most projects complete. It’s painful but there’s not always going to be someone to hold your hand and guide ya through it and I personally would probably be up a river without a paddle if the inter webs vanished forever. At 2:00, I totally get what you are saying, at some point I need to get away from technology(phones) and work. It's one of the aspects of our technology I don't like. Many people don't understand how complicated a technician's life is with all this new technology to repair. Most problems now with electrical problems is you spend a half hour looking at a schematic before you even touch the vehicle you are working on.

    I had to fight those hydraulic brakes on some of the first trucks my dad ran in his trash truck fleet. Those springs do have the bent end hook thru the shoe as you showed at the end of the video. Turn the adjusters all the way back in to get the drums back on. Then you have to adjust the adjusters out until the wheel locks then back it off until you can just turn the wheel. You have to adjust them before you attempt to bleed them or they will fight you.

    I'm sure someone has already mentioned the loose loader subframe bolt[s]?
    Yep. Just checked and at four other people have, nearly 48 hours ago. Not that it matters, because the frame will need to be removed anyhow to get at the flywheel.

    Best way to spend New Year's Eve - Watching Western Truck and Tractor Repair direct from Butte Valley. Happy and Healthier New Year to all the Roger's family. PS The Nashville bomber was a tech geek and may have associated AT&T with the increasingly unpopular monopolistic tech giants that rule the roost. For instance, AT&T owns CNN. He had half a conscience so warned the immediate surroundings about what was going to happen . A loner. Of course the FBI let him go right through their fingers - after his girlfriend reported his bomb making.

    Warren, I like the travel mug in your truck, the "genuine" article I hope( I'm sure it is)! I looked at Salty's site disclaimer it was "These are the opinions and ramblings of a lunatic. They are for entertainment purposes only and are probably wrong. You listen at your own risk." It might be time to write your own but you could copy and paste...but add no cold callers (-: I enjoy the scenery and banter as much as the fettling so a good video for me, a Brit from NW England...cheers and a Happy New Year
