    Jon Jones will soon defend his Heavyweight Championship against arguable UFC heavyweight GOAT and former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
    But this UFC superfight will not be close….
    Jon Jones most recently made his UFC heavyweight debut in a breakout performance against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, where Jon Jones scored a first-round submission Victory against the former UFC interim heavyweight champion.
    Stipe’s most recent UFC performance was his knockout loss to former UFC champion Francis Ngannou at UFC 260.
    These recent performances alone are not the only factors, as when we consider Jon Jones’ resume, fighting style, fight IQ, dynamic striking and mixed martial arts techniques, overall accomplishments, mindset and age compared to Stipe Miocic, it becomes very apparent how Jon Jones would convincingly beat Stipe Miocic for his first UFC heavyweight title defense.

His wrestling defense is pretty good and what kind of cardio does Jon have being so much heavier? I really didn't learn much about Jon at HW in his only fight up there. All the pressure will be on Jon to win to solidify his GOAT status. I think this will be Stipes last fight and he will be super motivated to show up and prove all the doubters wrong. You see thing is I personally do think it’ll be Jones last fight aswell as he has nobody to beat to prove to himself, he could’ve retired in LHW as he simply beat the best LHW fighters of the last decade, he went to HW to win the title and beat arguably the goat of weight class than retire. Also stipe does have great wrestling defense but you forgetting jones outwrestled an actual wrestling Olympian,not counting jones has a stronger chin than Stipe, even if you gonna count punches, jones handled fighters like Rampage and Rashad evans. Hey, as long as Jon Jones makes his last one or two fights In the UFC worth while and entertaining, I couldn't ask for more and neither from Stipe or If he wants to fight Sergei for his last professional fight, It doesn't matter. Jon Jones has never once had a boring fight, maybe a few more forgettable than others but never really "boring".
    I've had the pleasure of watching this man grow to be of the greatest In MMA since before I was In 5th grade and been so respected by many past legends GSP, Mighty Mouse, Silva, Khabib (Who ranks #1 all time, tied with Fedor), etc. and even his past opponents Gustafsson, Cormier, etc. have shown their respect for his undeniable talent and how winning against him being more than winning the belt Itself, and how he's consistently lapped every fighter he's fought In the past, DC claimed Jon as better than all of them (Including himself, with or without DC's stated steroids Jon could've and likely would've beaten him regardless), and not only that he's destroyed and beat great after great and Is a total legend killer. (PEDs or not, nobody Is doing what he did the LHW division during 2011-2015)
    Jon Jones In my honest opinion has already cemented as on top of the MMA Mount Rushmore In my personal opinion.
    So if he beats Stipe and Sergei for his next two MMA fights, or settles on Stipe for his retirement fight (win or lose). It won't matter (Legends like GSP have lost twice In their career, and he's still one of the greats), I'm here to ride the rest of the journey with Jon no matter what happens In-spite of the shit he's done In the past, no matter what he'll forever be the GOAT In my mind.

    It's hilarious how people really think there aren't political pressures in the UFC. That's why people don't like doing business with Dana. Gane did not even try. Stipe on the other hand, is a true independent who doesn't care what people think about him. He is there to prove everyone wrong and win.

  • @coltizz
    @coltizz Před 11 měsíci +57

    I think you are missing some key points about the fight that will make it closer then you think. Jones is a exceptional fighter with few weaknesses but he has them. His weakness has always been boxing shown in both the Gus fight and Dom fight. Stipe has good boxing and much better grappling then both of them. Dc did take Stipe down but he also took down Cormier in that fight. I would still pick Jones if I was betting on the fight mostly cause of Stipe’s age at this point. And the fact that Judges loves Jones as shown in his 3 controversial wins. Gus, Dom, Santos. But simply stylistically I think Stipe has a good style to at least make it competitive.

    • @lionelrivera_MMA
      @lionelrivera_MMA  Před 11 měsíci +16

      Regarding the boxing, I completely agree that it would be Jones' greatest weakness, and perhaps I should have emphasized it more, but given that Stipe needs to close the distance to make his boxing effective, I don't think it would make the fight all that much closer.
      Regarding the takedown, I mentioned this dynamic.
      Regarding age, I didn't even mention it because I feel like that's low-hanging fruit but that might be an advantage for Jones.
      I wouldn't say judges love Jon. I actually think he beat Gus and Santos but not Reyes.
      I disagree with his style making it competitive due to the ranges and predictability of his (undeniably) good boxing style.
      Thanks for sharing your opinion my friend. I enjoyed your input.

    • @coltizz
      @coltizz Před 11 měsíci +4

      @@lionelrivera_MMA I see your points with the range and Jones is a master of range management. But it’s also very clear that Jones have not been able to apply that same range management against fighters that are around his hight like Gus and Reyes.
      Father Time beats us all some earlier and some later.
      My point is mostly that I actually think it has potential to be a competitive fight with the boxing and wrestling of Stipe. Outside of Stipe there ain’t many in the heavyweight division that can pose a threat to him. Sergei got taken down by Alistar and got submitted even tho it was a long time ago that spells disaster in the grappling department for him. Blades could have been a bit of a interesting fight but I see Jones winning that one as-well. So besides Stipe I think Aspinall is the only one that stylistically can matchup decently with Jones.
      I thought Jones wan the Santos fight as well and had Reyes winning.
      As a Swede and long time MMA fan I’ve watched Jones vs Gus 1 to many times. And I’m very convinced that Gus wan the first 3 rounds in that fight. Most of Jones attacks in the earlier rounds were head kicks witch we’re almost all blocked by Gus so not sure how you can score any of the first 3 rounds to Jones. Gus took Jones down, Cut him so bad over the eye it could have been stopped cause of the cut placement. And simply boxed Jones up while Jones went for leg kicks that had no effect at all and blocked head kicks and stuffed all of his takedown attempts. You could argue that the 4th round was a 10-8 for jones, but given that Gus was out landing him before the elbow I would not consider it. If you look at the overall dmg witch is the criteria, Jones were busted up and hospitalized after the fight.

      Sergei Pavlovich isn't a threat to Jon Jones. The 6 guys Pavlovich finished aren't even worth Mentioning, its the skill level im looking at here and the level of competition and the variety of techniques and who's more well rounded and can apply it, Pavlovich has alot of hype from beating lesser opponents, The same people who think Pavlovich is a threat to Jones are the same people who thought Ciryl Gane would be Jones toughest Challenge, and Jones ended up making Gane look like nothing after a 3 year lay off with injured taped toes without any tune up fights, hard to believe someone like Sergei can beat a fresh warmed up seasoned Jones who won't have ring rust and won't have Injured taped toes in his next fight, I can argue Ciryl Gane is actually a superior striker and more illusive and far more mobile than Sergei. I predict Jones to finish Pavlovich on the ground within 2 Rounds or less, similar to Overeem did, possibly even worse because Jones overall grappling arsenal is Superior and he knows how to intelligently apply his grappling against high level opponents more consistently.

Stipe wins with Jon against the cage early, unable to use kicks effectively and mostly out of elbow range, Jon wins the attrition battle everywhere else, if not outright winning. Match will be determined by whether or not Stipe figures out how to get him against the cage early enough, before Jon tacks on too much free damage with running, countering or both standing in the middle and trying to fight technically. He'll only be able to do it by half-step chasing to avoid full counters, while still being in range to punish them. Neither have great instinctual responses, Jon is slightly better, Jon is better at distancing and shifting attack patterns (not including the elbows, which will later be proven dog shit once MMA becomes more technical).

      Last fight was 2 yrs ago where he got knocked out cold by the hardest hitter in MMA
      Then he has both a weight and height disadvantage and is way older
      How does he wash Jones?
      I just can't see it

    It's one thing to fight light heavyweight and dominate its another to be heavyweight

    In the heavyweight division, one punch changes everything. Realistically, Cyril Gane is not a reflection of how good Jones is. It broke under the pressure of the lights and did not resist. But definitely don't write Miocic off, Balkan blood runs through his veins . And we have to consider if Jones can last 5 rounds now

    Actual sound comparison. I'm a Croat and I root for Stipe but Jon is terrifying and he just always wins. I want Stipe to surprise us all again as he did before

    After seeing the Adesanya vs. Strickland I am totally agreeing you on the fact that defense will be the determining factor because similar to Jones vs Stipe Strickland is a one dimensional and a very Good at fundamentals against a very talented kickboxer Adesanya So I think Stipe can do What sean did to Adesanya but ofcourse you can make the argument of Jones is much more dimensional then Adesanya with his wrestling and submission game but at the end I can see a Stipe win with a good defense, sticking to boxing fundamentals and catching jones’ chin

    I would LOVE to see Stipe defeat Jones, but I think Stipe is the underdog in this fight.

    You have to add a couple inches to Jones's reach since his fingers are always pointed out

    The only problem for Stipe is his age and not being active recently. But to question his skills is disrespectful. In his prime there would not be a question if he's a challenge to Jon. On the other hand Jon has spent his career in the wrong division.

      This dude's opinions are normie at best. Not even close he says... and some of this deduction was due to how he wrestled a guy that has zero wrestling skills... Ehh, what? Let's not forget that Stipe is a brilliant wrestler! Of course, normies wouldn't know this due to Stipe rarely using this skill set and focuses mainly on his striking.

    Idk about that. Jon Jones has almost always fought people built smaller than him. He's also famous for eye pokes by fighting with his fingers out.
    If stipe can rebound, i see him winning but he might be towards the tail end of his career. Prime stipe wins against Jones

    Blowing up like that when you normally weigh 45 pounds less affects stamina, speed, and the angle of your punches. Also power is speed and mass combined, so he might be stronger but he might not be able to snap those punches with the same power because he might be slower.

    The greatest Heavy Weight vs the greatest Light Heavy Weight and the best part is WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO WILL TAKE THE WIN. It could go either way and that is what is so exciting about seeing these two champions go to war. Most exciting fight of the decade second to Diaz vs Mcgregor.

    Stipe’s the body shots against DC were amazing he has had time to fill in the gaps, however I can’t bet against “Bones” good quality analysis 👍🏼
