For those wondering about location, this was filmed at the Rhigos mountain, literally where the South Wales Valleys meets the bottom of the Brecon Beacons. It’s one hell of a road (despite the potholes and surprise bumps) and that is a hell of a car. Absolutely well done Alex, I hope you love and cherish it, it’s so good to see you’ve been able to achieve your dream!!

Congratulations! I'm in a similar situation. Just turned 40 earlier this year, and managed to buy my dream car with a 991.1 C2 a few months ago. Put quite a few miles on it already over several road trips. Plan to keep it forever, drive the hell out of it, and maintain it well.

I was 55 last August 7th. I promised myself my first porsche am actually looking as we speak have a budget of around 10k so it will probably be a Cayman.

Great pick this 993, awesome color and a smart move to get a driver with miles so you can just add to them without having to second guess if you should, when it was a garage kept low mileage example.

As the owner of a "high mileage hero" myself ('02 Alfa 156 GTA with 263,000km and counting) I commend you. Nothing wrong with high mileage - by definition the car must be pretty good, and had sufficient care and attention, just to become one. Use mine every day in peak hour commuting, 300km a week. Love it.
Absolute credit to you Alex, the passion and love was oozing and your emotions of driving that car across some quiet country roads in wales. I’d enjoy seeing more driving/review style videos, just going back to old school of enjoying a car and having a nice drive, even though the crazy things you come up with are great. It would be nice to have that split, brilliant content and I’ll support you and the channels and whatever else you do no matter what. Thank you for the content, the laughs and a place to enjoy cars.

Whilst the channel is very entertaining, Alex doesn't half talk some sh.. I get really annoyed by TV folk just making up money it's like storage wars or an antique show "this turd I've just found is worth a million quid!"

Wether you see this or not I just want to say a big congratulations on achieving this goal Alex, I’ve been a subscriber to your channel and seen it grow, always love tuning in to a video of yours but this video in particular has really connected with me.
I drive a mk5 gti and it’s my pride and joy, I was passenger in the car for 2 years before i bought it. Walked to work and back for 6 months and saved most of my monthly minimum wage pay to buy it.
The car is one of the few things that really makes me happy and although now 5 years later I have been in a very bad situation,the car is falling apart and roof being complete destroyed with laquer peel I’m scared to lose it, although I cannot upgrade it right now it lights me up inside just like you mentioned in this video and I have a strong sentimental attachment to it. I had a 993 Carrera 2 in 1995 when living in Germany. What a car! I had a commute that had a short stretch of unrestricted Autobahn on the way home. Changing down from 6th to third and running it from 60mph to 150mph was a daily occurrence. That chainsaw howl from the aircooled engine was intoxicating. Trying to drive it on summer tyres in the snow was quite amusing too - more time looking out the side windows than the windscreen...
The smile on Alex's face is the exact same as mine was when I had finally got to the point where i could drive my dream car for the first time. Reminding me all the time on my back underneath the t2 was worth it. Glad to see the joy in your face Alex

I like car throttle and still watch regularly, but lets face it Alex, this may never have happened if you'd have stayed with CT. This is some of the most moving, high quality stuff you guys have put out. Well done to the whole team and congratulations to you, Alex.
As a 1996 993 C2 owner (who does his own maintenance) the typical leaks are doable. The lower valve cover gaskets are the usual culprit coz they leak onto the heat exchangers. Timing chain covers and varioram resonace valve are other potentials. Also don't overlook some pillock who didn't tighten the smaller oil filter properly. Good luck!

@methaniel Possible. However, I'd first check the age and condition of the three 'fan belts' (drive belts). If even one is iffy, you should replace all three. I've done this myself. Actually when they have all three off, and can thus spin the alternator freely, THAT will surely indicate the condition of the bearings, housing etc.

My dad had a 993 C2S when I was a kid back in the late 1990’s. Easily the best car he ever had, and he definitely shouldn’t have sold it!! Watching this vid of the 993 brings back fantastic memories of my childhood. Congrats Alex and thankyou!!

The smile on your face reminds me of my 18th birthday when we were on holiday on one of the Dutch Wadden isles. It was the first time I was allowed to drive on my own, and I spent the whole day definitely keeping my speed under the speed limit in our family's Skoda Octavia Combi, cruising around the island on my own. It was a feeling which I will never forget!

This is my favourite video of this channel, actual car loving, pure happiness and joy that can only be achieved by a car lover loving a car, its absolutely beautiful just perfect, this episode it reminds me of all the good reasons i love cars, and the reason i follow you, sometimes this channel is too much tom foolery, is good to see only alex sometimes like old car throttle days, and this is what we as a car community have to fight for, to make sure that we show that cars are not only a means of transportation and they cant take out freedom, our choice, our love for real cars, this passion that we have, its sad but if we have to fight for it, then we should because to anyone who ever worked hard and sacrificed a lot to have a car of their dreams, or feel the pain of letting a old mechanical friend go, the feelings, the emotions, its love, its impossible to describe, its only felt.

i had a similar situation with my recently purchased e30 318is, wasnt even for sale anywhere, off a post on facebook got a message and it was the only one i went to view, and its absolutely amazing so far for the 2 weeks ive owned it, can fault a thing.

I still remember the drive home when I bought my first Porsche which was a 1990 964 Carrera 2 back in 2010?. I called up one of my best friends and said, "listen to this!" and the let him hear the wroom wroom noises. The fun about that was that I live in Sweden and he then lived in Tasmania. Congats Alex, automotive thereapy is definatly a valid treatment !

My childhood dream car was the 300zx, I sat in one in a showroom when my Grandad picked up his new Sunny. I bought myself a 300zx 18 years later and loved every minute, driving it or just staring at it.

My dream/unobtanium car was the BMW 1M.
Ever since I watched Clarkson drive it back in TG S17E01 back in 2011, I just couldn't get it out of my head. It was everything I had every wanted in a car - small and light, sharp front end, big power, awesome handling and RWD.
Fast forward 9 years, and through flipping up I finally got one.
And I loved it.
And I still love it.
And I'll never sell it.
Do meet your heroes - if they are an awesome car, or an awesome person!
