Wow that's a rare dyson in the UK parwaz mate - nicely done - and a very nice machine - would love to get hold of one!
Excellent video - including tips and what to watch for throughout the entire process. Thank you.
Probably the best guide for Dyson DC 17 here! Very helpful video! Thank you
I watched another teardown it was awful, yours is excellent. I like how you pointed to all the screws and other items that you removed, well done
Thanks for the info. Although I didn’t need to replace the motor the information you provided allowed me to change out the internal hose, clean out the cat fur behind the beater bar motor and change the motor filter. Plus I ended up also changing the external long hose and putting in a new belt.
I’m so glad you found this video useful!
Excellent video. Was wondering what was down below in regards to wiring and motors. I just received one yesterday afternoon for free, reported as motor or electrical to motor was bad and not worth repairing. Decided to see what I could find out with my free time when I can find. Switches above as well as wiring seem OK other than the red tipped smaller switch seems to always be shorted and never open. Disconnecting to see effect and was no difference, nothing when either motor was switched on as if there is an open circuit somewhere down below in the cleaning head. Thanks for sharing, much appreciated! Kind Regards, In Christ.
Very helpful, thanks.
Glad it was helpful! 👍🏽
I love these. Do more PLEASE 😁
You saved the day my dude! Thank you!!
Appreciate the video! It was helpful in my cleanup.
You're welcome!
On clutchless models taking the brushbar, belt and just taking it apart is much easier!
Great video buddy , where was this when i did my dyson challenge lol. Could have saved me hours of taking it apart to service before lol
Cheers mate for the constant support! And hahaha I’ve done a DC55 ball one for you to use as a guide for your DC65 luckily

Kirby Enthusiast Niceee! You’re gonna be zooming past me very soon lol I’ll be the one that will need catching up on you 🤣
Parwaz 786 it’s the power of the Kirby 😂. Like the dirt flying off the carpet 😂
Kirby Enthusiast 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you
You're welcome!
My Dyson I got today. The brush assembly flys off the bottom and yeah how do I fix that. Like the whole thing comes off the top
It sounds like it’ll need a new housing and/or cleanerhead because if it doesn’t clip back into place properly it’ll be worn out sadly
Thanks parwaz for the great how to I’ve just had to do this for my dc17 which I’ve imported but I’ve got a problem with it and was hoping if you could shed any light on what the problem may be.
Today I was vacuuming with the machine I’d finished downstairs and went upstairs to do the 2nd floor and as soon as I turned the machine on it pulsed about 3 times before I managed to turn it off. After this it stank like the motor had burnt out so I left the machine for half an hour to see if it may be ok after I left it. I turned it on again and the motor powered up but it had a completely different pitch to it it sounded like a dc04 before but now I can’t put my finger on what it’s like. Anyway it runs but for some reason it had 0 suction at the wand maybe the slightest suck but almost like a toy vacuum so I suspected that the fan had come loose so I followed your video and took the machine apart. The fan wasn’t loose and after reassembly the machines exactly the same it runs but with no suction power.
Do you have any idea what this could be I personally have a feeling that a winding in the motor has shorted somewhere allowing the motor to run but not create any suction power but I could be completely wrong but I’d really appreciate any insight you could give about this.
It sounds like maybe the motor has gone if there was a burning or electrical smell, either that or it could be your step down transformer make sure that it's working properly first
@@parwaz7861 thanks for that I’m really perplexed it’s something I’ve never seen before the transformer seems to be working fine so I suspect it’s the motor which is gonna be a pain in the arse to source from America
Parwaz 786 I have the belt tensioner model, it has failed and I am looking to find that part the clear brush housing do you have any direction for my search?
Hmm I'm not sure, try seeing if your local vacuum store has any hopefully they have some dc17 spares
Or better yet you could find another dc17 for spares
Best tool to use for soleplate fasteners is a simple coin and NOT a screwdriver becuase they will wear out!
I've disassembled my dc17 and found that the brush motor isn't working. Is there a way to fix or test or just replace it?
I'm not aware of a way you can fix the motor, ideally you'd need to replace it, but if there's electricity going to the motor and it won't work, then I'd get a new motor for it, unless it's the brushbar switch/microswitch or something
@@parwaz7861 right arm! I do appreciate your help! Peace N Bacon Grease
22:36 ORDA!!!!! Do you live in Birmingham?
Yep! That’s the Birmingham accent for you 🤣🤣
21:56 Then where’s the post-motor filter?
You can see the post motor filter by the motor housing attached to it
0:21 What plug 🔌 is that?! Do you not live in the UK 🇬🇧?!
It's an American plug, I live in England but I have an American Dyson
@@parwaz7861 Pick a different nation and you can get DC07 parts! Ha ha! I am smart! 😁
Parwaz 786 😂 I’m waiting for a comment like that with my British plugs in Aus 😂
