The "BASH IT" at 2:25 was precisely the technique I needed. I was fiddling with the plastic retainers...worried about breaking them, but the quick bash popped the housing right out. THANK YOU!!!!
Simple and straightforward. I was able to replace both the power cord and switch with limited electrical experience. Thank you for the well-detailed video.
Greetings from Los Angeles. Just wanted to leave you a quick thank you for your video. That close up you did on the internal wiring got me out of a pickle. It's 2020 and my Dyson is still alive because of you. Keep up the good work!
Next chapter in my DC07’s story, filters, belts, rotary brush and motor all done previously with your help, so the chafed input cable has now joined the replacements list. Tried my usual supplier but they’ve discontinued, along with Dyson, the original part and offer no substitute; so more browsing to do - hope they’ve got a nicely terminated one with a clip out there!
+HooverLux It's not tricky at all, hopefully it helps a few people! Oh? Have you got a Moulinex Major? I bloody liked mine, but someone else wanted it more (childhood vac) so I did the decent thing!
I had issues with my cable change, as Dyson slightly changed the housing on the 07. I used the older housing on the newer 07 and it was causing me problems for about 10 minutes. Under the switch they reduced the depth of one side of the vertical fitting. This must have been catching the wires. I just tried the other housing, as I was making a good Dyson 07 out of 2 Dysons with different issues. Snapped straight in. Love Dyson recycling, great designed vacuums and I'm keeping them from the landfill, so win win. Great video as per, keep it up. 73's Andy M6APJ.
Here is a tip to make it trivial to get the new cable through the strain relief: use an eXacto to cut the insulation off the new terminals. That lets the the terminals on the new cable slide through the strain relief with no problems at all. Once they are through, use some short pieces of heat shrink to re-insulate the terminals. Easy!
Chris Wilson there’s holes at the back of the wand at the top and use a screw driver to hit it carefully, do it after you take the screw out. Hope this helps
Loved your video though. The dyson dc07 standard is my fav model but I have a dc14 animal but it’s. also non clutch. Reason why it’s like that because I had my old dc07 head and housing and a belt brush roll the clutch had gone on the dc14 but I could off bought a new clutch but instead I saved money. I’m going to get a belt guard for it to as it doesn’t have one.

Me too. "Bash it" was the missing link.
This was big help and save me a ton with not having to buy a new vacuum
Great video. Being a Yankee, I really enjoyed the accent, humor, and all the bits and bobs!
Thanks very much!
Perfect description. Thank you!! It was a success because of your video

Hey thanks, couldn’t get my switch cover off, one video said push those tabs and I couldn’t get it, a good jab is all it took 😁

I like a man that knows his way with a vacuum!!! Thanks for sharing!
Any time, glad it helped! (if it helped of course, you could be sat there swearing at me right now!)
Thank you for the instructions. I’m sure I would have cracked some plastic bits without your video. Mission successfully accomplished!
Great to hear, well done!
I found one on the curb and those dam scrappers got to it. thanks for this video
Well done! Was actually quite easy when you show us how. Your Moulinex Major vid helped me, well, saved me yesterday! Thanks Dr Watson. 😁

Sounds a nice healthy DC07.
My grandad has loads of them style / shape plugs in his garage off old things lol.

Oof the sneaky gits! Rings true though now you say it, I've had issues fitting random switch housings to dc07's before, this might explain it!
Couldn’t get the switch cover off but found this video helped me
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Brilliant Mate! Thanks for posting.
Excellent video!
I’m so happy that ur doing a vid of a ds07 origin

This reminded me of the white DC07 you had in once with the massive cut along it.
Oh gosh yes, that was fun*! Glad I didn't 'give it a check' first by plugging it in!
Is they anyway besides doing it with a screwdriver?
thank you
How do you remove the cover to get to the switch connector? I've been struggling with it for the past 20 mins.

Thank you ya bloody bongo 🐻!

@@hiwaibrahimsalih3517 I'm just saying that it is DC07 Not DS07!
'Because I'm a pikey' 😂😂😂
Why not just buy a £4 cable connector and cut off the damaged bit ??
Personally I would, but I'd never let a repair go out like that!
That’s safe isn’t it NO it isn’t
It was safe when it wasn't plugged in!
Of course it’s safe when it’s unplugged beko I do that too I always unplug it and refurbish my dyson
So Olivia it is safe
Olivia beko is just doing his excellent jobs
