Great video. My wife brought me here before we made the mistake of buying another vacuum. Easy steps to follow. Thanks.

Awesome! Thank you so much! Very easy to follow and saved us from having to take it in to be fixed or buy another vacuum. Neither were viable options right now. Bless you!

Thanks for your video. I had a DC04 before the DC14 and that was a PITA to fix/change the power cord. I had put off fixing it on the DC14 precisely for that reason, but your video showed just how easy it is on this model. Thank goodness! Now it's finally fixed!

Thanks for this - I had a DC17 animal which is a little different but the similarities were close enough for me to get it done. Appreciate it.

Thank you!! This was a great video - worked like a charm.. My only problem was that my new cord came with rubber covers on the ends of the connections (gold parts you plug in) and I tried FOREVER to force them through the curved rubber cord protector. Watching you reuse the plastic connector pieces from the old cord was a lightbulb moment - I cut the rubbery clear ones off and the cords fit perfectly through the curved cord protector. Then I slipped the plastic connectors on, plugged them in and presto! The vac turned right on.

caseygawriluk I'm planning on doing the same. Only question is some of the replacements on Amazon are listed as no clips. Do I buy that one or one that doesn't have that in the listing? Thanks for the great tutorial!

An enhancement to this...Rather than buying a new cord, cut the cord where there is a short (mine was where the input was), strip the wires and replace the spade connectors as needed with some from Lowes ($3-4).

Dude why didn’t the little tab covers come off mine that easily? I couldn’t pull them off without them breaking. They do protect the connectors so I think I’ll either try to pry them off or use some electrical tape or shrink wrap on the connections.
I freaking love Dyson. For an all plastic vacuum cleaner they are built really well and super easy to fix at home. We’ve had ours for a good 15 years and it’s still going strong.

What size metal crimps are they for the end of the new cable? Bought a cable and it didn't come with them. Thanks

Thanks for the video. For an expensive vacuum cleaner petty poor standard of electrical cable.
