    Ax to grind with Dyson for some reason... They are good vacuums. I've had the same one for almost 20 years. They last if you maintain them. I've even gotten them out of the trash, completely stripped them down and reassembled them. They are good as new.

      Thank you for your comments random guy on the internet. After careful consideration I have realized that your singular experience with a Dyson vacuum far outweighs my experience inside tens of thousands of vacuum cleaners. After hearing your story I have changed my mind and now love Dyson vacuums. I am going to suggest to our team that we no longer sell Riccar or Sebo vacuums and instead dumpster dive for the far superior Dyson vacuums. They will save so much money I am bound to get a raise!

    really easy video to follow and loved the expert tips in how to remover certain parts. However I also have two screws leftover (like in the video) and a magnetic catch, that you took out but I did not hear you say to put back in). They are definitely from this Dyson as I only have one , so I'm going to have to go back for the magnetic catch and find another video to find where the two screws we both have are from.l ol

    Thank you very much for this very helpful video! The clutch failed on our 2005 DC-14 and this information was just what I needed to wrestle a new clutch into it. Hopefully we'll get a few more years out of it. Dyson, of course, has completely washed their hands of this model; no parts support, no repair support, no tech support beyond a few troubleshooting script cut-n-pasters in some 3rd world call center.

      @@vacuumsrus I fell for the advertising as well after using my sister Dyson in 2004 🙃.
      Surprisingly, the clutch is still fine but the motor to clutch belt finally failed after 18 years.
      Now I can see exactly what to do I'll be getting some belts instead of a new vacuum.

Lol works great now tho, still gonna order a clutch before I can't find one

    Amazon claims to be selling brand new clutches for the DC-14 for $39.99. I wonder if they’re authentic Dyson parts or aftermarket.

    Hellllp! Thanks for the great video but my t15 closest to the front won't come out. I loosen it and it just keeps spinning with about 40% resistance but never comes looser. I removed the big knob on the side to see if it would help. It didn't. 😢
    What's holding it in? Loose nut? Am i hosed? I've watched several videos and I am the only one dealing with this problem!

    • @vacuumsrus
      @vacuumsrus  Před 3 měsíci

      It is very common for the mount that the front screw attaches to to snap off entirely. The mounting point is part of the brush roll housing. In this case you can normally pull the clutch cover out with some force. It's not ideal to reassemble it with only 2 of 3 screws attached but it will "work" most of the time. Again, follow these suggestions at your own risk. It is possible that removing the clutch cover with force could shatter the brush housing.

  • @hoovernunez
    @hoovernunez Před rokem

    Thanks as you say do it at your own risk. But If i found no spare parts because it’s an old Dyson and no more new ones because they had been phaseout then one will try. I did it with an old canister Dyson DC39c. At first I gave up because motor burn and smell burn you know so i got a Miele C3. But i didn’t throw away that one and later I found a Panasonic motor not expensive (35USD) that fit there. Also I made a cover with HEPA filter textile (it’s not suitable for Aquarium it’s not fiber glass) to replace the old exhaust paper filter that i accidentally broke while taking out the burned motor. Later I found that those filters were again available so may be some day I will buy one of those. Because as you say this Dyson different than the Sanitaire or Electrolux there are no third party nor OEM manufacturers. Some day I think if the cyclone or other part got broken it will go to the trash but now it works I use regular to clean pets bed and the car so because it’s bagless it collects pet hair and the car dirt without buying bags. Still have to wash pre motor filter and after one year changed again the post motor textile because i still have enough to anyway it works not the same but it works.

    What happens if your brush is NOT spinning? Would that also be because the clutch has gone bad.

    • @ToneObsessed
      @ToneObsessed Před 11 měsíci

      Yep, that's what is wrong with mine. The brush "wants" to spin, but the clutch is so shelled out it doesn't spin more than maybe once or twice before stopping. Any resistance and it is stopped.

    Can you please advise me what torx screwdriver fits the three screws on cylinder cover so I can clean wash out the vortex.i have a T15 screwdriver but it doesn't fit due antitampering screws

    • @KittyNoNo
      @KittyNoNo Před 5 měsíci

      What model do you have? I'm not sure about the DC14, but the DC07 only uses T15 screws. There are 3 T15 screws way down in the cyclone of the DC07 which are easily accessible with a long T15. However, in addition to being screwed together, the two pieces (the upper, brightly colored cone, and the lower silver part) are permanently bonded/welded and do not actually come apart, so don't waste your time removing the screws. I would just check to make sure the screws are tight if you have a long T15. The key to successfully washing out a DC07 cyclone is to make sure it's absolutely 100% dry before vacuuming. I blow it out thoroughly with compressed air, then let it sit near an air vent for a week - or as long as I can. Then I blow it out again to make sure it's dry! In 21 years, I've washed out my cyclone 3 times. A cheap and simple way to keep your Dyson performing as new! Good luck!

    Changed my clutch. Everything is back together. Getting suction. Roller is spinning. Picking up like normal. Canister is filling up but i am getting the clicking sound when pushing forward only. I did not replace the hose spring. Could this be the problem? Any ideas that can help this issue?

    • @vacuumsrus
      @vacuumsrus  Před rokem +3

      There are a lot of things that can cause that. Due to the age of the machines there are just a lot of older plastic parts rubbing in ways they shouldn't be. I don't think not changing the hose would cause it persay but since the hose does control the elevation of levelness of the head it's entirely possible the head is bent at a bad angle and causing wheels to click.

    You really do need to be extra careful with the plastic, cuz it gets extremely brittle, and all it takes is the slightest amount of pressure in the wrong spot.
    Do you think the newer dyson vacuums are as sh*tty as this one? And are the vacuums that are better, are they all also more expensive? Or are any cheaper? Thanks
