- I've had this DC17 since Mr Parwaz_786 (go check out his channel if you like big mess tests) gave it to me back in early February! It's time to get it out and refurbished as it's going mouldy in the shed, but first we need to see if it even works...
Fancy donating to the channel? I’m always in need of parts for projects, so have a look at my Amazon wishlist, and let me know who you are in the note so I can read it out on camera! - www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/...

YES HELLOOOOOO!!!!
Such a lovely man.
This is actually informative because you always need to take apart vacuums to see if they work or not right?
I have been considering refurbishing a DC17 a customer has had since near 2006. It resides in his basement collecting dust. I remember in its newer days how much of a beast it was! Newer Dysons upstairs now. You may have sparked my desire to tackle this endeavor! I purchased a Workhorse Cyclonic Vacuum for Christmas, and it is a beast! I really do enjoy it much better than Modern-Day Dysons!!
It's brilliant, easily my favourite deep cleaning vacuum now, I pick it over the Kirby Sentria now!) if I'm able to run my 110v transformer too...)
I'm looking forward to seeing the after refurb video! I have two of these beasts and love them. I dunno why the filter is clean as I never touched the vacuum at all! just went into the shed the day I got it haha
Nice Video the Dyson lives on looked nearly as bad as the Kirby G7 i fixed, but that motor looked beyond repair, Well done , and you got a free lego brick lol. Looking forward to part 2
A $7 USD bearing puller would help you greatly with those bearings. 👍
You are awesome I fix Cacuum cleaners to
vacuums*
An amazing machine - would love to get one of these - but these are in a minority here in blighty,Sam - yours is probably one of the only ones! Reminds me of the dc 27 I own a bit though to look at at least!
Thanks, they are amazing! Probably more so to us as their quite rare and like nothing we had here... It's currently sat in the loft awaiting a new spine sadly 😢 Broke it putting it back in the car after doing a church cleaning video 😂
Sooooooo close to 4k subs!!!! Great job!
Nice video My favourite dyson models are dc39 and dc07 and dc24/25 and v7/11 and dc05 and dc29 aswell
It looks like a dc27 & dc33 morphed into one. A real interesting dyson
It’s a actually a dc18 dc14 and a dc07
@@EvanJS2005 What do you mean?
Hugo Henderson what it’s based off
Where did you get the DC17's Repair/Service Manual? I may well end up needing one! :) I've a DC17 I bought in 2006. Motor seized. Got a new motor and am about to attempt to replace it. Service manual might come in handy, but I'll likely wing ahead on it anyways without one. I don't like to wait around too much! :)
I've got it on pdf! Drop me an email and I'll send it over. It's a right sod, entire bottom end and cleaner head go on with 4 screws together... Found it easier to do standing up with the machine upside down. My brushroll recline switch isn't in the right position as it stays on regardless. In no rush to have it apart again to fix it!
@@beko1987 Email sent. Thanks again!
@@beko1987 Just confirming you got my email from yesterday. I did manage to get the new motor back in, paying careful attention to the three bumpers and recline switch you made special note of, and didn't manage to have any other remaining screws or parts afterwards either. So far so good. I don't think the newer models are as robust as these older ones. I thought I was insane enough to have paid what I paid for my DC17 new, but if I can keep it going now 14+ years, I suppose I can rest assured now that I've now gotten my money's worth?! :)
Beko1987 can you send it to me to mine is saylorevan560@gmail.com
Any chance of getting a copy of that DC17 service manual?
I did see your email and forgot! Next time I've got the pc on, I'll go stick a post it to the screen now!
@@beko1987 Hey, thanks. I appreciate it.
Another crazy twin motor set up from dyson guaranteed brush bar motor failure Lol. Rare to see main motor die. Put an 07 head unit on and your laughing.
The brushbar motors are quite good on these, they run off the mains so don't need any silly PCBs, these are designed for thick American carpets so the motor has to be beastly, they rarely go wrong I think, sadly a Dc07 head won't fit on it as it's a completely different design and the motor has no spindle either for the belt on a Dc07 head
@@parwaz7861 I was poking fun at the ball Dyson set up, the 07 head was a joke mate.
Thanks for putting me straight.
Still prefer Sebo x1
@@ianjones4116 Ahh XD Yes the sebo X1 is brilliantly built, wish Dysons were as solid
