wait.. some people didn’t absolutely love the hallway scene? how is that possible
That honestly puzzles me.
Some people just really don’t like popular things. The more popular something is, the worse/dumber it must be. Honestly I’m the same way about a lot of things (not the vader scene holy shit that lighting effect was mind blowing) and so I like watching this channel to keep me from being too cynical about things
@@brilliantlysplendid Yeah, get those hipsters out of here.
I guess some people are just empty inside.
It’s not so much about being a hipster, i.e. hating things because they are/became popular, it’s more like you look at really popular things like pop music (I don’t like that) and then popular youtube channels (I generally haven’t enjoyed those) and there is a trend that makes you think that popular things must be for people who aren’t yourself. Also, there’s something of a desire to be different. There are 7 billion people on this earth and you want to be someone who is unique, so you’re not allowed to like popular things, since that would rope you in with the popular crowd. It surely makes no sense, since as I said before, there are 7 billion people so you’re going to have a lot in common with SOMEONE, but I digress
I'm glad im not the only one who lost their shit during the Vader Sequence.
RedArmyRockstar everyone did
Everyone apart from attention seeking critics did! Some evidence to how much of a badass Vader was.

#2. The Villain Fans dreamed About........ (Showing my age) I (Mostly) Had Nightmares about Vader!

#3. If that scene or something like it (back in the day) was in the Original Trilogy, those movies would have been R-Rated.
However, #4. We 1970s and 80s' kids to teenagers Imaged Vader (A lost art with most kids today) doing a "Rogue One" Style Massacre of rebel solders at Echo Base on Hoth (Empire). So........ 36 or 37 years later, our Imaginations and Nightmares of Darth Vader ARE Vindicated!

My brother and I agreed it was our favorite part of this already spectacular movie.
That Darth Vader "choke on your aspirations" line should have been a clear indication to Vader that his children were alive; because it's a total dad joke.

This line perfectly encapsulates the Star Wars fandom so well
Especially that first one.
So true 🤣 and sad
It´s pretty much, why in the Cosplay Scene, the 501st Stormtroopers are ALWAYS a win, and most Jedi and Rebel Cosplayers are unsympathetic and downright obnoxious.
It also encapsulates the Star Trek fandom as well.
@@Mac14329 Do you mean the first one made-A new Hope-or the first one in the timeline-The Phantom Menace?
Vader’s depiction in this film is spot on. People saying the “take care not to choke” line is out of character, do you forget “apology accepted, Captain Needa”, “we would be honoured if you would join us”, or “the emperor is not as forgiving as I am”? Vader has always had a twisted sense of humour especially when it comes to his own violent behaviour.
As for him holding his breath or turning off his life support in the hallway, he did literally the exact same thing in Empire twice during the fight with Luke, to ambush or frighten him.
For all the reeing and soiling of nappies “purists” do whenever some new Star Wars thing gets released, it really feels like they didn’t watch the original trilogy at all.

7:47 What I like is how they only use the Death Star to destroy the city, and later to destroy the base to try and make sure that they didn't get away with the plans, as it shows some of it's power to the galaxy, so it gives more meaning when Tarkin says, "I think it's time to show the full power of this station." in A New Hope.
I forget where I saw it but I think it's only at 2% power for these shots.
@@callmeshaggy5166 Damn.
I wonder at the specified order of _"...single reactor ignition..."_
Does this mean the activation of a single high-impulse reactor tied into the superlaser...
...or does it mean "Forget about any of the high-impulse systems. Power up the superlaser with energy drawn from just the main reactor core."
Because 2% implies they didn't crack open the high-octane stuff. They just cranked off a shot using the starter battery, as it were.
@@BogeyTheBear I'm guessing it means the Death Star needs multiple reactors powering the superlaser for it to have enough energy to blow up a planet, while if you only use one of the reactors it just blows up a part of the planet's surface.
@@octodaddy877 Yes-- but what was that reactor? Just one of the many high-impulse reactors that are dedicated to powering the weapon? The novelization of this movie is honestly... amazing. The deaths of the heroes are made just... a hundred times more heartbreaking since they all take place from a purely internal point of view. K-2SO calculating his way through that entire fight, just working at every second to give Cassian and Jin the best chance of success that he could... and Chirrut... repeating his mantra within his head as he makes his sacrifice, over and over again as a rhythmic punctuation of what he is doing, with no sense of visuals to what is going on, because the visual is not part of his personal experience. Just... wow. It rips me apart every time, but I love it!
I just finished reading it, and it's not even my favorite book by Alexander Freed. He's an awesome writer
@@yoshiyahatano6365 My favorite of his was Twilight Company. I loved it because behind all the not-moons exploding and other heroic moments, the Rebellion was made up of normal people who fought, killed, and died. No one was guaranteed to survive and Howler, Charmer, and Roach, among others, were no exception. A very gritty and well written book imo.
I love that book! My second-favorite novelization of the movies (right behind ROTS)!
@@SFisher1993 The prequels did have good novelizations, which... almost makes them more bittersweet for me. They kind of leave me with a sense of what could have been with the prequels. Not that I'm a hater of the prequels, just someone who was old enough to be let down by their execution when they came out, and I'm not sure that reading the novelizations before I saw the movies exactly helped XD (always felt weird that they released the novelizations... even the audiobooks before the movies came out)
Yes!!! Have read through the novel many times, never get tired of it. I loved the metaphor about the bunker in Jyn's mind.
I love how Mikelson barely ever changes his accent. He’s such a great actor everyone just works with it.

This movie was more about the "War" aspect of Star Wars than the "Force" or anything, which makes it amazing for me
If you haven't yet you should go watch the clone wars. There are many episodes mostly focused on the war
@2020Surya S315 oh yea no idea why i did that, edited now
I love how it puts the focus on the "little guys" in the fight. They were not powerful Jedi nor have strong political influence.
The more that Star Wars has focused on Jedi, the worse it has got. Seems backwards, but these films work better when there are less Jedi and very little explanation of them. It forces the scripts to focus on the human element, which is what makes it great and dovetails nicely into war movies, war is hell, and sacrifice.
@@ccricers My favourite episodes are the clone episodes. (see the one with the traitor Jedi and the training planet under occupation) So fucking good.
Honestly, Rogue One is my FAVORITE Star Wars movie. It’s my dad’s favorite too. It just never gets old
Favorite movie of mine and my dsd too! It is the most adult film of all of star wars in my opinion and I think it is why my dad likes it too. Cassian Andor killing his terrified friend in the ally is the most realistic and dark moment in Star Wars. I know there are other dark scenes but here you have a innocent human character killed on camera. In contrast to Anakin killing the children off camera.
Empire Strikes Back is better
Just like the younglings
@@PickleBeanBoss he never said it was better he said it was his favourite.
@@underhillat always one OT fans coming and telling how ESB is the best , it's almost a divine mission for them to say that to everyone
'not leave the theater all weepy and depressed' excuse you, this movie made me cry! No joke, watching each member slowly die freaking killed me. The only one that didn't really effect me was the pilot. Baze holding Chirrut as he died, his clear sorrow over the loss of someone he CLEARLY loved, it hurt. K-2SO sacrificing himself after only JUST having accepted Jyn as a FRIEND made my eyes BURN and my throat close up, and then Jyn and Cassian staring out at the wave of destruction headed towards them, then collapsing in an embrace, accepting their deaths, knowing that they did all they could and it was now in the hands of the rest of the resistance... I was in genuine tears. I won't lie, I absolutely love this movie, as much as I love The Force Awakens, as much as I love Revenge of the Sith. Any film that can genuinely move me to tears is exceptional in my book.
Also, K-2SO was my favorite non-human character, and my favorite human is a tie between Cassian (as you pointed out, he shows a side of the rebels we've NEVER seen before, something that's never even been HINTED at in the films, by outright killing the guy with one arm, yet he's still a genuinely likable character) and Chirrut.
Frankly, you're the most decent commenter I've ever read. A fellow hopeless romantic, so that makes me biased. But I don't care. Force be with you, sister.
Each Rogue One squad member dying one by one hurt me and still hurts just as much when I rewatch it. I was crying. Rogue One without the Vader scene was a 10/10. This movie went way beyond my expectations.
Vader Hallway scene was totally worth the price of admission!!! who agrees with me?
With an attitude like that, Dylan's got a great head start on leading a forgettable life.
Harrison Mcarthur absolutely agree. In the book Lords of the Sith, there's a bit where Vader boards a ship operated by the Twi'lek resistance and I remember reading it and thinking "too bad we don't have a movie version of this." Then of course Rogue One gave us that. I mean, when Vader closes to melee range, that first brutal overhead cleave almost makes me flinch myself. And the guy who grabs the plans just kind of stands there for a second because even though there's a lightsaber sticking out of the door, he's just in shock.
Then it's a shame you evidently lack both.
Harrison Mcarthur Agreed!! Totally!!
Dylan Murphy just making sure you know that "critical thinking" doesn't mean "criticizing everything."
I wasn’t aware that there were people who disliked the “Don’t choke on your aspirations” line from Vader. To me, it feels like a little bit of Anakin showing through... and it gives me a very “Scar from Lion King” vibe which I always love
Vader is an incredibly dramatic character. Anakin's mannerisms show through that mask frequently and there are plenty of instances of it in Rebels and the comics. In one scene in Rebels, Vader is standing on top of his TIE Advanced as it descends below the surface of a planet. Not only is he flying his starship with the force, his cape is flapping in the wind, except, he's below the surface of a planet and there is no wind. He's using the force to make his cape flap. Because's he's dramatic and all about theatrics. Because he's Anakin Skywalker.
@@shredforceone Couldn't be truer. It's probably the only reason Anakin lived in Vader. Why he could come back. Not to mention Ahsoka and his encounters in Rebels. All feeding to Anakin overcoming the mask that was Vader and stopping Palpatine.
Vader was dropping one liners left and right even in the OT
@@Gxact And then having a son, having someone he could manage to love again, allowed Anakin to fully come through and destroy both Palpatine and Vader
That "scar from lion king" vibe is funny when you remember that Vader's voice is also Mufasa's
Coming back after finishing Andor, still a masterpiece
Andor and Rouge One are 2 of the best I think of all the movies and shows. Short of Empire Strikes Back.
My favorite little detail in this that not many people notice is that when Vader's lightsaber ignites, the chord on the music changes, and the hum of the lightsaber fits into the chord. Coolest moment ever.
Everyone at the end of The Force Awakens: "Wow" Kylo ren killed a bunch of people and stopped a blast with the force
Darth Vader:Hold my beer
But Does Vader can force freeze a blaster bolt and same time freeze a good guy and then kill some villagers?
BrickBuilt Creations Can Ren hold a guy on the ceiling while reflecting laser blasts and slashing trough ppl? No, he can't (no hate btw, I lovs them both)
Ormi Ader No I think not but he can stop a blaster then deflect it with his hand and jet the kill while throwing someone up on the ceiling and slashing through them then killing fifty more rebels Can Kylo ren do that ? 😂
How about we agree that Vader was awesome, and that Kylo Ren, whilst being a prodigy (it takes some power, talent, and cunning to wipe out Jedi), still can't quite compare to his grandfather. In fact, that's one of the things that irks Kylo, he wants to be so much like his grandfather, but he just can't reach his level. Hence him being seduced by Snoke.
Darth Vader>Kylo Ren
I'm pretty sure that the entire world can unite together in complete agreement that the final Vader scene was completely badass.
Except for that twat who called it "the worst sequence in the history of the Star Wars."
Also, "the Star Wars"
Actually, it's because there are people who are terrible enough to honestly say that they didn't like that scene, that proves to me that Humans will ALWAYS have wars and probably end up causing our own extinction...
I'm mean, fucking seriously, that Vader hallway scene was awesome! And there are people who say they hate it? Fuck off. That's not even an optional opinion from my perspective.
i bet the people that hated that scene are fucking purists who never enjoy anything new and just stick to the original like its the best thing ever... looking back at the OT it had some cringy stuff
I totally agree. It's CLEAR who vader was and that he didnt fuck around when it came to killing rebels and Jedi. To FINALLY see that on the big screen in such a way was amaZing. They want to hate it just to hate it. They have no real reason.
If you are a fan of Star Wars, than you'll praise the Vader scene.
Most of the fans who said they hate it, are just original Trilogy fans, who can't go open minded into new SW films. Since they are not the ORIGINALS.
I love the Vader scene, as it shows us the real lord Vader!
13:35 gotta admit, he does go out like a boss. Direct hit from the death star.
I really liked this movie. And it's because it reminded me of Halo Reach. "I know we're losing, I want to know if we've lost." as Kat puts it can make for some excellent stories, in my opinion. That desperation, and the fact that characters have to (sometimes literally) pick a hill to die on. When death is certain, what do you do with what you have left? And when the answer is "go down fighting," you can get movie magic.
Also, that bleakness was the entire point of this film. Note how the only lightsaber is red. No Jedi coming to the rescue with space magic. They have to make do with what's available.
And Vader in the hallway is superb. Shows exactly why he was the most feared man in the galaxy. He was the face of the Empire, Palpatine's chief enforcer. Carved through those rebel soldiers like they were a minor annoyance.

This is legitimately my favourite Star Wars film. It demonstrates the main themes of the Stars Wars rebellion, hope and the willingness to give everything for the greater cause, and really shows us the individual sacrifices required for the macro-level battles we see in the Original Trilogy and humanizes the rebellion and their sacrifices. I don't like fan service when it's blatant and doesn't belong in the film whatsoever. Reason why I liked the Darth Maul Obi-Wan duel in Rebels was they didn't make it pander to fans at all. But the hallway scene is really a prime example of how much of a ruthless demon Vader is to the Rebels

I do not disagree at all, but half the reason this movie is so fantastic is BECAUSE of all the other movies, sometimes I feel like it's hard to really compare the different star wars movies cause for the most part you can't have one without the other, they've all built off each other into something that shaped the century
For me if say fourth as for me all the OT are flawless, then revenge of the sith and the this, but to be honest it is really hard to decide which if all of these i like best.
For me it's right behind the greatest Star Wars movie, The Empire StrikesBack. Ever since I saw it, I have said that Rogue One is the Star Wars movie, for those of us who grew up on the Original Trilogy, deserved.
I respect your opinion. And glad to see others loving this dark but grandiose war movie.
Chris Jackson I agree!!! Same here
I’m surprised you didn’t win the “stardust” callback. Works as a double entendre, tells the truth about the Death Star while showing how much Galen cares for Jyn.
K2-S0 doesn't get enough credit for being an incredible comic relief, while also consistently portraying competence. His jokes don't all feel directly ripped from Marvel like the other sequel movies do, they stay true to his character, and feel grounded in the humor of the original trilogy and the rest of the Star Wars universe.
Best line of the movie:

Weeeel, they knew about his "force connection" he aint a user but i BET he can basicaly remember the way they walked without any error through that, so realy they should have liftet him up. Force user is one thing, but everyone has a conection with it AND can listen to it. Thats whats basicaly called Serene Mind, some of us call that state Ultra instinct these day's, a level where your completly calm, and thats whats needed to listen to the living force anyway. Wield it is a different thing, listen to it as it tells you things is something else, and jirot did listen. Being striped of his eyes (wich would be imposible given bacta can heal ANYTHING in SW) he uses his other senses, and for his hearing he needs to be calm AF.
Mine is ‘ that was a lot of explosions for two people blending in.’ K2SO had the best script in the film, IMO.
Lol yes
"Only there's a problem on the horizon... There's no horizon."
thank you, K2SO. Thank you. 😂

K2SO was the best comic relief in Star Wars ever!!!
K-2SO: You’re letting her keep it? Would you like to know the probability of her using it against you? It’s high.
Captain Cassian Andor: Let’s get going.
K-2SO: It’s very high.
K2 and chirrut were my absolute favorite characters, a sarcastic droid that isn’t just helpless and is absolutely done all the time with these rebel shenanigans but doing it anyway because his boss said to, and a blind badass trusting entirely in the force to guide every action he took, they were amazing
ALAN FRICKIN TUDIK as K2SO was A-MA-ZING
RIP K2SO
I've been a Star Wars fanboy since before it was "A New Hope", way back in 1977. I LOVED this film and thought that it was everything that the prequels weren't. If you've ever read the novelization of "Revenge of the Sith" by Matthew Stover you know exactly what I mean. Vader's scene at the end (and The Mandalorian taught us that you should NEVER get caught in a corridor when fighting against a Skywalker!) and the rage he displays is a perfect lead-in to the anger you see at the beginning of Episode IV. Throughout the rest of the OT he's essentially calm as he destroys people and things. Rogue One even explains his display of emotions on Tantive IV.
This was a fantastic "war movie" in the Star Wars universe.
People hated the Vader Hallway scene?
I... don't understand. I, like you Cinemawins, was blown away by that scene. I felt goosebumps and giddy. That was the VADER we all wanted, no NEEDED, to see.
I left the theater after my first viewing and threw ANH in my player just to continue the experience. ANH's opening crawl read like it was brand spanking new. You could place the scenes in R1 against the lines of the crawl, and it felt right. It was so good.
SleeplessRonin I remember my jaw dropping gasping and having a HUGE shit eating grin on my face.
How the hell could anyone hate it??? It's everything I ever wanted to see from Vader, I personally never really thought Vader was that great of a villain I always felt it was more his voice & his look that made him so iconic. But after watching the hallway scene I would definitely say he's one of the greatest! THAT was the Vader I wanted to see, the Vader in his prime & it went above & beyond my expectations!
If you want more, just read the Vader 2016 comics. Thank me later.
Yes, the Darth Vader hallway sceme was the best Darth Vader scene of all time, pure hate and pure evil.
The scene was really badass and cool to watch but kind of tonally dissonant.
It felt a bit like fan service at the expense of the tone and story of this film. I didn't hate it but it was bit weird hearing people cheer a villain slaughtering good guys after what was supposed to be the downbeat emotional climax of the film.
Rogue One being Halo Reach as a Star Wars movie is the greatest description of this movie. This movie is beautiful.
It was unexpected
It is so accurate and that Vader scene gives the same emotions as when Long Night of Solace was destroyed and immediately any hope of victory was crushed by a covenant armada.
@@enclavesoldier769
That Vader scene must have been horrific for the rebels.
Accurate
Vader at the end of this movie truly helped me understand his rage in A New Hope. From my first watch of Star Wars in 1977, I never understood his rage. I loved this movie
8:17 Love the little Star Trek reference there. Remember: If you server under Kirk and are going on an away mission, don't wear red.
In Empire the ship that saves Han and Luke on Hoth is called ‘Rogue Two’ however in this film they say “Rogue One? There is no Rogue One”. I like to think that after the stuff on Scarif, when they were trying to think of a callsign for those Hoth ships, they chose to honour the crew of Rogue One by naming a squad after them but not have a replacement ‘Rogue One’. Just something that makes me happy to think about
They made them a squadron
It's actually a nod to/reference to the squadron Luke Skywalker would be given command of not that long after the Battle of Yavin. Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles would form Rogue Squadron, a group of rebel Pilots who would become among the elite of the Rebel Starfighter Corp. On Hoth, the pilot who finds Han and Luke is Zev, who's call sign is Rogue Two, much like Luke's in the Battle of Yavin was Red 5. Luke himself was Rogue Leader/Rogue One, as he was the squadron commander.
After The battle of Hoth, Wedge would become the new leader of Rogue Squadron, as Luke would go on to further his Jedi studies and found the New Jedi Order. Here in this movie, I think it's Gareth's way of giving a nod to the fans, because Rogue Squadron in the EU were well known for their exploits both in the air and on the ground in aiding the Rebel Alliance, alongside other squadrons like Wraith Squadron. So he created the idea that they started off with Jyn and Cassian on Scarif.
@@TechLeafRanger oh cool, that’s pretty interesting thank you!
@@dandaropa You're welcome. star Wars always has been one of my all time favorite franchises, thanks to my dad and mom. I grew up on the original VHS's of it, before the special cuts, and I spent a lot of time dreaming about being an X-Wing pilot. So stuff related to all the spacecraft and vehicle battles, I dive into whenever I can. Honestly, that's part of what i love most about this movie, is the entire Battle of Scarif. It's amazing from start to finish.
@@TechLeafRanger Completely agreed, this film is incredible the whole way through, but the moment they leave for Scarif it just amps up to a whole new level right up until the credits. Probably my favourite Star Wars film ever, definitely the best non-OT one
My dad, who was about 8 years old when he saw the original Star Wars, said that seeing Rogue One in theaters gave him the closest experience to watching the original for the first time since he saw Star Wars in theaters
Noah Daglio My dad was 8 as well when he first saw ANH :P
My grandson is named Chad :-)
hahahah
I was 7 when I saw the original ‘77 Star Wars in the theater, and my name is Chad !!
🤪
I was 3 1/2 when I saw it in early 78 (it didn't come out til much later in New Zealand). When I walked out of seeing Rogue One I said the same thing, the closest experience to what I remember from so long ago.
I was so pleased when you mentioned Halo Reach because that's actually one of the first things I felt coming out of the theater "wow that reminded me of Halo Reach". The fact that they fight and they fight some more and they feel like they won, only for it to be completely undermined by another, deadlier attack from the enemy... but they keep on fighting anyway. Even the aesthetic of certain scenes reminded me of the game.
I have never felt that much with another film even though many others have tried to create that general atmosphere of "we're on our last leg but we cannot stop because hope is everything". The Rise of Skywalker actually tried to sell us that the Resistance was dying out but it never felt as dire and truly ending as in Rogue One. And it might seems like an easy shot at one of the worst installments of the saga, but really it ain't the only film that failed to truly deliver the emotional impact and the raw delight in seeing that yes, it seemed doomed, but you didn't give up and now you're rewarded because your fight was righteous.
Damn. Rogue One makes me feel!!!
That hallway scene..... wow
I remember being in the cinema and everyone absolutely losing their shit when that lightsaber lit up!
Honestly Rogue One is up there with one of my favourites. And that Vader scene is just the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Disney PC quota is always given to minorities.
Chirrut might be gay for no reason? So whenever Asians make friends they must be gay? WTF?
Lando Calrissian is Pansexual now?
Interracial relationship must be between nonwhites only? Finn and Rey can't get together, he must get distracted away from it with stupid Rose Tico who Disney cared so little about, they got a random minor actress from CollegeHumor with no experience in film.
Oh, and Asian Rose Tico has to shoulder the Fat Quota.
My personal ranking is that it's the 2nd best Star Wars
I think that Rogue One is the best because its the only movie I ever got lost in and had such an obvious ending catch me by surprise. TBF I was only an infant for Empire's initial release.
KitKatHD the original trilogy as well as revenge of the with was better than rogue one and I might even say force awakens was better but still it’s a good Star Wars movie
@@Cubby9196 Depends on what your 1st ranked SW movie is.. but I might completely agree with you.
A actually liked the one-liner. It shows that the old Anakin is still in there somewhere, and it makes Vader all the darker for cracking jokes about an ally's potential demise.
I mean, Vader dropped one liners through the entire ot, so don’t understand why people think it’s out of character for him
@@christianlarssen9046 also does the same thing in the comics. One of my favorite Vader likes is „all I’m surrounded by is fear and dead men“ right before slaughtering hundreds of rebels that were surrounding him.

Vader has no allies...
Exactly.
late to the party - but how on earth do you NOT 'win' the blending of cut scenes from the original film into the x-wing space battle. That was my jaw drop moment where i turned to the stranger next to me watching with his young kid and we just grinned at each other like idoits.
Few wins you missed, mainly chopper from rebels in the movie, them calling captain syndulla- meaning hera is there, and the ghost being in the final fight multiple times. Lots of references from rebels
Suprised you didn't give it a +1 for the fact vader built his base where he was beat by obi wan and that his relaxation place looks over the exact place obi wan cripped him
He uses that hate to make himself more powerful. It is also a place to reflect.
It may even rival Darth Maul's hate bubbling xD
Its more like he is a phoenix. He rose from his own ashes.

it's also the place he thought Padme had betrayed him and where he thought he had killed her, a place where Anak in died and Vader was born. a place where his painful past fills him with hate and anger and the Darkside can flow freely within him.
"There's a problem on the horizon... There's no horizon," *PURE GOLD!!!*
I hope we get to see more of that Cassian who does anything for the rebellion. They soften him a bit throughout this movie so I'm hoping he's more "I'll shoot a guy to protect the info" in the Andor series.
How are you liking the series now that most of it is out?
@@jackryan8938 The series itself is brilliant. It's probably the best series Lucasfilm has put out with Mandalorian coming in very close behind. In regard to my earlier comment though the problem is that the show isn't really about Andor despite being named after him. It's like Mad Max: Fury Road. Things kind of happen to him but it's not really his story. He's reactive not proactive. You know? Like Luthen came looking for him. Luthen paid him to help with the heist. He got thrown in jail for being in the wrong place. Things happen around him more than to him and I'm none the wiser how he got from where he is now to where we meet him at the start of Rogue One. Presumably the final episode of season 1 will have him actively join the rebellion since I assume Luthen would kill him otherwise. Season 2 is supposed to be set up with the same structure, having 3 episode mini arcs only between each block it jumps forward a year so that the final episode of season 2 is supposed to flow right into the first scene in Rogue One. Hopefully season 2 will have more answers regarding Cassian himself. As far as seeing the inner workings of the Empire and the early days of the Rebellion I love it. That's probably more words than you wanted. If you make it to this bit I'll ask you the same. What were you expecting before it started and does it live up to them or is is a let down and if it's different do you like what they've done?
@@uosdwiSrdewoH it far exceeded what I was expecting, I was initially surprised that someone who I thought was a throwaway character was getting their own series but they did an amazing job. I wish this level of thought was put into kenobi or book of boba. Instead of making another starwars series they created a unique and full story with starwars stuff in the background, they didn’t force cameos or fan service just for the sake of it. I actually think I enjoyed this more than Mando season 1.
How could you miss hugging at the end of the movie, where Jyn and Cassian are left on Scarif as the planet is blowing up from the Death Star

8:47 I love how you can see kind of lore friendly explanation for stormtrooper aim, because apparently stormtrooper blasters are made for close quarter combat, so there's not much reason for it to be extra precise, and here we see some "more expensive blaster" being basically spray n' pray, so it's easy to imagine stormtrooper blasters will be even less accurate than that given that they're supposed to be the cheapest of the cheap.
I don’t know why I find the scene where the GR-75 hits Vader’s star destroyer after coming out of hyperspace so damn satisfying, but it is.
CinemaSins is nice, but this channel is refreshing. Its nice to see someone appreciating the art and good, entertaining qualities in films. Seems like everyone's a critic.
I got real tired of cinema sins after YEARS of his existence :/ some of the sins just seem stupid and pointless, not as many critiques and the plot or acting and stuff. More than 4 years later and I came across this channel. I completely agree with this review. I have a theory to add, I don't know if it had been added before...I don't even know if someone is going to read this by now, but here it goes: the reason why storm troopers can't get a hit at Chirrut, as well on the OT at Han, Leia or Luke it's because the force kind-a bend the blasters away, sort of protecting them, as the force course through them (Luke and Leia are known to be sensible to the force and Han, according to some theories is as well). Before anyone can argue that the force could not stop a blast mid-air, just remember that Kylo stops a blast, so the force has some power on blasters and/or lasers. This movie is awesome!
The Vader hallway scene is a cinematic masterpiece and it lives rent free in my heart. It’s the cherry that tops this absolutely amazing movie, and the “there’s a problem on the horizon, there is no horizon” has become one of the best jokes in my friend group. 11/10 movie, only topped by episode 3 and 6.

I always liked Vader in the OT but I never found him to be particularly threatening. That hallway scene. As soon as the lightsabre turned on, I was like, "Oh. Shit."
Shogun_Turnip Yup.
He never seemed that threatening to you in the original films? Seriously? Within the first 10-minutes of him appearing on screen, he lifts a man into the air with one hand and crushes his throat! He uses the force to strangle another man! In EMPIRE, he chokes several men to death using the force, and he stops blaster bolts with his hand and uses the force to snatch Han's weapon away from him!
He wasn't flashy, but he was still pretty damn threatening.
Darren Z I think he meant that the special effects back then were limited, so it was hard to see him as powerful.
To be fair, I could've worded that better. I meant to say that he was threatening, I just think that the way the hallway scene was filmed kind of felt like it put me in the rebels shoes. It's a fairly subtle difference, but if I was a rebel in ANH, if I saw Vader I'd probably be like, "It's Vader! Run!". Whereas Rogue One's is like "Oh God! I'm going to die! Please Help!"
Hope that clears things up a bit.
Travis Donald Stanley I'm pretty sure they did know it was Vader, seeing as he is kinda their Enemies Apprentice, and is the one who the Emperor sends to do the dirty work.
I love that they used cut and adapted stuff from episode 4 for Red and Gold squadron leaders to really provide that link with the setting
Ok but the music shift when the death star shows up sends chills down my spine
Am I the only one who thought cgi Tarkin was actually pretty good?
oh, he is good but he can't escape the uncanny valley
It was amazing, people just love to nitpick, that's it
I think being a gamer makes me more accepting of computer generated stuff. Could still see some awkwardness and I think some more time could've improved it if it was that worthwhile an investment, but it was good.
It's not (necessarily) nitpicking. Some people are genuinely creeped out by how Tarkin looks in the film. Also, it raises legitimate questions about how far you should go to bring a dead actor back to life for the sake of a movie...especially considering Carrie Fisher died this last year.
I...did not even know it was CGI??
I think the comparison of Rogue One and Halo: Reach is a perfect analogy.
K2 is Noble 6.
I was disappointed that Baz didn't get a scene where he was overrun by stormtroopers before going down like the mc in reach.
raevir noble 6. MC wasn't in reach
I think he meant the "Main Character" and not the "Master Chief". (I think)
And Reach was the second best Halo game!!!
I remember seeing the Vader hallway scene for the first time, I was sitting forward in my chair, jaw dropped. I could feel my heart beating as my hair stood up on my skin.
Rogue One is my 2nd favorite Star Wars film. I was hoping the Prequel Trilogy was going to show Vader in his prime, but it didn’t, so I’m glad to get this hallway scene. This is a perfect prequel to New Hope too
Yet still bad.
