  • Rogue One is still a week away? You lied to me last week?!? Well, here's all the good stuff in Revenge of the Sith, which is a lot. Because it's actually a good movie. The critics were wrong. Here's everything right with Star Wars Ep 3 Revenge of The Sith plus a theory about what actually happens to Padme.

    19:16 he mentions about how different Anakin’s life would’ve been had Qui Gon lived. A lot of people don’t seem to realize that Qui Gon and Obi Wan’s fight with Maul was never about simply defeating the a Sith Lord and saving Naboo. It was about Anakin. His entire future, his mentor, his ideals, hinges on who wins the fight. One might even say it’s not a duel in the conventional sense but rather… a duel of the fates.

    • @Firelayer1
      @Firelayer1 Před rokem +32

      Even you didn't really say what the true meaning of the fight was. It didn't only change Anakins life for ever, but by that also the whole galaxy. Every single person in the whole Star Wars Universe would have had a different life if Qui Gon didn't die. But mostly the Jedi, Anakin, Padmé and Sidious of course.

    • @coolmanplayz438
      @coolmanplayz438 Před 8 měsíci +9

      Another idea of this that I can expand to the trilogy, from the duel of the fates through the rest of the trilogy, the Jedi are only able to win in the short-term. Yea they killed Maul, but Palpatine already had Dooku groomed and ready to go when Maul died, so congratulations, you have cut the head off the Hydra, just for another one to take its place. Even then, as revealed in the clone wars, they didn't really even kill Maul, since he shows back up later. Fast forward a bit, The republic technically won the battle of Geonosis, but Dooku still escaped, as did the death star plans, and now on top of that the galaxy is a in civil war. Fast forward further, the clone wars have ended, but all the manipulation of the dark side and barely winning caught up with the Jedi. In all these cases the Jedi only solved the short term problem, where the dark side took all the long term victories. In this example specifically, the dark side won the duel of the fates. Maul was defeated yea, but again he didn't die, and now Qui'gon Jinn, the master Anakin needed, is dead, so the galaxy is given the dark fate.

    Though I don't disagree with the analysis of what made Anakin choke out Padme (the lust for power becoming overwhelming), I think it's also partly his lashing out at her for rejecting everything he did for her.
    Anakin realizes what he's done has been beyond the pale; there's truly no going back. He's destroyed the jedi, killed children, and completely turned the Republic on its head. All for her, all to keep her from dying. On top of that, he now has the power to reject anyone who was telling him he couldn't be with her. He can shape the world the way he wants it and no jedi will try to kick him out of the order for being in love or feeling emotions. Padme is finally safe and their ideal world will come as a result of all the evil Anakin had to do to get there.
    Then however, she rejects it all. She says they should run away together, leave all of it behind. This is aggravating enough as it is, since Anakin is already trying to tell her they don't have to run or hide anymore. He doesn't want to have to reflect on what he's done to get to this point. He doesn't want to hide from it, he wants to revel in the victory that's come of turning and destroying the jedi, but Padme doesn't want it. Then Anakin starts to believe Obi-Wan is behind her convictions and when he steps out of the ship it confirms in his mind that she never planned to side with him. All the work he'd put in to save her, she throws away, makes it all for nothing. The one person he threw his life away for he's lost because of Obi-Wan. With all things Anakin had done throughout the series, he lashes out in anger.
    I mostly put that out there because I remember a snide comment saying that Anakin choking Padme was out of character and stupid, but given everything that happens in Revenge of the Sith alone, I think it's completely within character for Anakin to snap and do something so stupid for all the reasons I mentioned.

      Totally agree with this analysis. Anakin holds her and their love as the most important thing in his world and in that moment, thinking she was conniving with Obi-Wan all this time, he must’ve snapped.
      Another point, that “stupid” move wasn’t out of character because it could be argued that the decisions Anakin has been making the whole movie wasn’t all that wise anyway. lol
      (before anyone argues, yes, I know Anakin has been through years of manipulation and his nightmares might have been Sidious’ doing and to fall for that isn’t stupid as much as it is tragic, but let me ignore that for this joke :P)

    There’s no flashy spinning, flipping or clashing. They already did that and Obi Wan won. Obi Wan is too old for it now, and Vader is cautious, learning from his previous defeat. It’s simple feints and blocks, much more like two skilled fencers who have the measure of each other and it adds a whole new level of enjoyment to the original scene (which is made even better by seeing what full-power Vader is capable of in final scene of Rogue One)

      Let's see now...
      "awful dialogue"?
      It was present in the originals as well. Can't criticize prequels for it, without mentioning it in originals, too.
      "bad cgi"
      Did you watch the video? The cgi is actually awesome, and holds up very well even today. Phenomenal for it's time.
      "over the top and stupid fight scenes"
      Which ones? Because none of them were over the top. These movies are showing the Force Users in their prime, at the height of their ability. It's expected, that they are able to do amazing feats. Each and every fight was amazingly choreographed and had actual meaning to the story. How again, were they "over the top" or "stupid"?
      "bad acting"
      Where? By whom? And again - look at Carry Fisher's performance in originals. Worse than anything in prequels.
      ""confusing things happened for the plot"
      Again, where? What was confusing?
      "and the many many hilarious stuff like I have the high ground or it’s treason then"
      The high ground actually did give Obi Wan a slight advantage, though it was not an automatic win. However, mainly, Obi Wan was goading Anakin at that point. Obi Wan had the experience of dealing with Maul, he knew this situation as well (the situation of the high ground AND the way sith operate).
      And what's funny about the "it's treason then" line? It fits just fine.

      At least you could try writing in a coherent manner.. Anyways...
      " just because it’s in the originals doesn’t justify it"
      Commonly, prequels' opposition loves the originals. Which is why I included this.
      The CGI was mostly the same in all 3 movies. It was amazing for it's time. And even today, it's far from terrible.
      "confusing things in the plot means why does anikin go from crying about his girlfriend dying to tossing that bitch"
      In that case, just as I suspected, you did not pay attention to the movie. Scratch that, you probably didn't watch it at all, if you refer to Padme as a "girlfriend". Because it was shown clearly enough how much Anakin changed by that time. He's already turned into a sith by that time, for goodness sake. Even this video itself explains it, if your attention span is too short for the movie.
      "and treason then is one of the stupidest scenes I have ever seen, like what was that noise and jump, also how do 4 Jedi masters die in 3 seconds"
      You seriously must not have watched the movie, or this video even, to not understand the scene. It's not rocket bloody science. Everything was laid out clearly.
      And neither of fights you mentioned were "over the top". As I mentioned before, they were what they had to be. I don't get what you mean, when you say "over the top". Explain maybe?
      All in all, it seems like you didn't watch the movies at all, and neither did you watch this video. And now you comment on it? You only complain for the sake of complaining, with no real arguments against the movies. It's ridiculous.

Anakin knew all of his tricks, which is what forced obi wan to stick to the defensive, else he would have used his knowledge of ataru that he likes to mix into his primarily soresu (he originally trained under qui-gon, a user of ataru, but when qui gon died obi switched to and mastered soresu, and used his former knowledge of ataru to mix in some offensive strikes, as seen in his very brief fight with Darth maul in rebels) fighting style to beat anakin. The prequel trilogy was released from 1999 - 2005. This focuses on the early life of Luke's father Anakin. We see Anakin suffer from and eventually succumb to the psychological problems which were ignored by the Jedi. We also see background information on some of the supporting characters seen in the original trilogy.

    I sometimes like to think that Anakin didn't mean to cut off Mace's hand, just block it like he did with Count Dooku in Episode II. But, in a moment of shock and panic, emotions having boiled up prior to the scene, he loosely swings and cuts Windu's hand off. It adds a lot more weight to the, "What have I done?" sentence, as if the situation escalated too quickly and he has only now become aware of the consequences of his abrupt action. Obviously I know he *did* mean to cut it, but sometimes, it's interesting to think about this side to Anakin.

    A win for all of the prequel movies is that they focus on the inner politics of the Jedi and their conflict with the government, not a lot of people notice that the first steps to war are political and social conflict. And everyone hates politics because it takes a og of energy to seemingly end up where you started that’s what the prequels are, they’re the political and social conflict before war, it’s not supposed to be like the original trilogy because they represent a different part of war (the uprising). George wrote an incredible story and some people just couldn’t see the meaning behind it

      Kumquat Lord I had never thought about that. Though at the end of Episode six, he dies and (most likely) Palpatine died. That would leave Luke and Snoke in episode seven. Well, we don't really know if he is a sith yet, but it is very likely that he uses the dark side of the force, because it would make more sense for him to be a force user to be training Kylo Ren. If Snoke is a sith, that would make a single Jedi and a sith. I don't think the old Jedi understood the meaning of the word "balance" either, there was a ton of them and only two sith, a master and an apprentice. They were even trying to kill the sith, but that would make it even more unbalanced. The OLD OLD Jedi were also plentiful, but so were the sith. That is also balance, though I prefer having a single sith and single Jedi. Having hundreds of sith would mean they would be even worse and could conquer even more planets and turn the force users on those planets to add to the numbers of the sith empire. Sorry if this is a little long.

      Not only that, but The Clone Wars greatly expands on the council’s failings towards Anakin. Obi-Wan and the council keeping Anakin in the dark about Obi-Wan’s “death”, pushing Ahsoka away from the Order, Obi-Wan lecturing Anakin on his feelings about Padmé instead of helping him, and the list goes on. Throughout the series you begin to see Anakin’s views shift with things that happen to him.
      I like to think of Anakin as the body and Vader as somewhat of a symbiont presence. Vader lives inside Anakin, and Anakin uses Vader when he needs something, but locks him back behind a cage. Through the series, we see that Anakin starts losing control over Vader and is unleashed at times that Anakin didn’t want to use him, and it happens much more often later on in the show, and feeds right into ROTS when Vader gains full control on Mustafar, and Anakin is locked away in the trunk. It’s a truly tragic story, doing bad things for the greater good, only to get drunk off of the power you’re wielding

    I have a theory that Yoda ran away because during his fight with Palpatine, he tapped into the Dark Side, ever so briefly, and it terrified him. You can see it when he's blocking Palpatine's Force Lightning. Yoda's face screws up in anger as he glares at Palpatine, and then Palpatine's maniacal laugh becomes a hacking choke.
    Yoda, for a brief moment, started Force Choking Palpatine. Then, realizing what the fight drove him to do in his desperation to win, he realized he couldn't continue down that path.

    • @ungulatemanalpha
      @ungulatemanalpha Před rokem +3

      both mace windu and yoda end up deflecting force lightning back at palpatine with their lightsabers, and doing so only makes him stronger. it's especially relevant in the context of Return of the Jedi, where Luke throws away his lightsaber and refuses to kill not just Anakin Skywalker, but Darth Vader. Even if he can't convince Vader that there's still good in him, he'd rather die than strike him down. And that's when Palpatine, confronted with someone that refuses to play along with his games, spitefully acknowledges that Luke truly is a Jedi - quite possibly the only 'real' Jedi he's ever fought.

How else are you going to get from a free republic to a controlling empire without politics?
