Another REUPLOAD!? I know, this one had been blocked for 3 weeks and my DMs have been blowing up ever since. But next week back to normal. And it's something a lot of you have been asking for from day one. At least a beginning...Only the most avid movie aficionados will be able to decipher the teaser frame.
I think the finger on the revolver's hammer was an intentional choice. He went to hospital to finish turning Dent to Two Face and direct him to the path Joker planned him to take. BUT he also knew that Dent had every reason to blow Joker's head off when given the chance. Why do it then? Because it shows to Two Face that it would be waste of time to chase Joker later. It gave illusion that Joker would not care if Two Face shot him, so that also makes it seems waste of time, and the time could be used on something else...

This whole movie made only 145 wins and marvel movies are making hundreds so i think that's why his not giving a lot of wins because his a marvel fan and only pays so much attention to detail that he gives wins that aren't important in marvel movies but doesn't give wins to very cool details in this movie

I remember watching this movie with my late grandfather earlier this year. We were watching the transport scene and he said "This is why I hate action movies. If he really wanted to kill him he'd use a bazooka." I then looked at him and the next second. "I stand corrected." I will forever remember that moment and that is what firmly set its place in my favorite movies of all time.

Oh fuck yeah I was like, even when the scene was happening and it was clear the joker wanted to start a fight, that there was no way he could get that seasoned badass to take a swing

When I heard that line in theaters. The "would you like to know which one of them were cowards" I thought to myself, if you ever called any of those people your friends in the past there is no way you can not punch that guy in the face right now"

Am I the only one that feels like in the start when the joker “miscalculated” the number of shots the banker had left in his shotgun. He actually knew he had one left, it was just easier for him to make the banker kill his goon
Probably, but it could also have been a sick joke on the Joker’s part.
I hundred percent thought that too... even in my first watch I had guessed that was the Joker by that point (maybe a bit because of the mask being similar to one worn in an earlier iteration).
I think he just didnt really care. If the banker was out of bullets, then Joker would kill the guy anyway, and if the banker wasnt out of bullets and he killed the guy, then the only difference to the plan is that Joker kills the guy who opens the vault. It literally makes no difference to the Joker
He 100% knew the banker still had one more shot left, and definately purposely betrayed his own goon cause he didnt give af, was gonna do him in anyways
I realize this is super late, but it really feels like the Joker was fully expecting Harvey be batman. The little "hmm" when he sees the batmobile sounds quietly surprised. Like he expected the vigilante to burst out of the transport.
That confirms even more that he is "controlling" chaos or that he is chaos himself
I wish ledger lived to see all his awards and all the reviews and fanfics telling him how damn perfect he was.

@@jacksonmorgan4347 actually there's a video that did a two part video of what if Joker was in Rises. I highly recommend it. It fixes things in the movie that didn't work too well.
I love how you can see Joker is making up his "why so serious" story as he tells it. You can tell because he pauses for a few seconds multiple times and rolls his eyes up pondering since he's improvising.

Actually each one of his "why so serious" stories are accurate to the comic books about Jokers origins. That's what is so awesome that Nolan purposely used those stories to make comic book lovers have a nerdgasm.
Ian Bauer Yes, the movie was well made with a great series of Easter eggs for the audience. But in this universe, the Joker was improvising, so the original idea holds true
I actually don't believe that's evidence of him making it up as he goes. He's a showman, he knows how to build tension in an already tense situation, to keep his victims on edge. He also seems to sort of "collect" himself, formulating his thoughts to words.

My theory is that Joker was a soldier known for his brutality and ability to create chaos and insurgency.During the interrogation, he says something like this, “You’re a freak, like me. Sure, they need you now. But as soon as they don’t? they’ll toss you out, like a leper.” Which lead me to the idea that he was a soldier praised for his insanity until it wasn’t needed anymore, then he was cast out, dishonorably discharged, abandoned on a mission and left for dead, whatever form that may have taken. I don’t have a lot of specifics or hard evidence, but as mentioned in the video that’s a good thing.
Heath Ledger's voice acting through the whole movie deserves its own win. Looking back at old interviews his regular voice sounds most like Chris Hemsworth - deep with an Australian accent. The way that he mastered all of the Joker's weird vocal nuances, from his American accent, to the growls, to the maniacal laughter, occasional voice crack is incredible. It's an absolute tragedy that we lost him so soon, he would have starred in so many more incredible roles. Though I am thankful that this is one role that immortalizes his talent.
I feel like in this movie, Christian Bale is kinda left out of the spotlight, but he still has an incredible performance and a wonderfully written character

Welll Nolan said he wanted to Spotlight Batman Batman Begins because Batman Forever made Bats a joke. Then he let Joker and Bane take centre stage in the next 2 movies.

I just love the irony that people didn't want Heath to be Joker and then he became the best Joker ever interpreted. It's really sad that he died, his career could have been even greater and nowadays he would probably be really proud of the way he destroyed all his haters and how high he set the bar. I loved both performances, but they were different. You could always sympathize with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. But Heath Ledger's Joker was just an embodiment of chaos and fear. I don't know how to explain it, but they seem to be two different Jokers(characters).

Heath Ledger is not the Joker (to me that title is reserved for the voice of Mark Hamill) but the real-life version of him. There is simply no way for Joker to be alive, in this world, our world, without him being Ledger's take. Insane, yes, but brutally efficient and insanely pragmatic. The dude has a plan b and c for when he dies. Always a move ahead in everything he tries to do. Of COURSE, he's insane, you'd be too.

Fun fact, Heath Ledger never did any method acting for this movie. He’d be on set, do his scene and go “ok great scene guys, who wants some water.”
3:24 What's the most interesting is that Harvey did both. He lived to become the villan, but died a hero since Batman took the blame for him because he wanted Harvey's reputation to always stay good. Because Harvey was always good, he simply was corrupted by The Joker.

I LOVE the moment at 4:50 because you learn so much from the tiny shot of everyone backing up. Between the 3 bosses (Gambol, Chechen, and Maroni), they embody 3 very distinct reactions to the Joker. Gambol is angry and reactive. He knows he’s not in control here, and he hates it. He’s grasping for a semblance of that comfort that control gives him, to a point that he blindsides himself to the very real danger Joker poses. Maroni also knows Joker is in control, but on the other hand, he knows this isn’t someone who can be “bought, bribed, reasoned with, or intimidated”. He maintains a little bit of composure in front of his men, but has a sort of “don’t make any sudden moves” look etched onto his face, with his eyes glued to the Joker. And then there’s Chechen, who has the most interesting reaction: he’s intrigued. Curious. He sees the Joker as a potential business partner (evidenced by him humoring Joker’s questions, asking his price, genuinely considering his offer, and even leaning casually as if to show he’s open to Joker’s proposal from the beginning). When Joker pulls the grenade card, Chechen barely stirs - he looks back at everyone else’s reactions, but he maintains the same casual composure, as though he expected this and is unfazed. It leads into their later actions as well (Gambol’s leap to the conclusion at Joker’s “death”, Maroni’s confession to Harvey about Ramirez and his tip to Gordon about Joker’s later whereabouts, and Chechen’s acceptance and inclusion of “the clown” to get rid of Batman, even giving him his half of the compensation as he had requested)

Harvey Dent is such an underrated character. He was so well written as the hope of Gotham becoming a criminal that is driven by revenge. I rewatched this movie and felt sad that Harvey became Two Face even though I already knew it would happen. Man this film is great.
He kind reminds me of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequels

I agree. I was almost 13 when I watched this film in 2008, and I didn‘t understand anything that happened. I couldn‘t even let it sink in because my parents wanted to sneak into another theater and _watch Mamma fucking Mia_ right afterwards. The mood whiplash was real and impenetrable, and it stuck. Everything I know about the greatness of this movie was told to me by more analytical people like Cinema Wins. I don‘t have any real impression of _The Dark Knight,_ save for how radically different Ledger‘s Joker was from Hamill‘s Joker in B:TAS.
It‘s also worse when my parents don‘t want to delve into the deeper meanings of the movies they watch - they just watch movies for fun, not for the stories it tells or the characters that develop in them. _The Dark Knight_ was nothing more than 2-hour entertainment with a menacingly horrifying Joker in it. I wouldn‘t be surprised if they really went to see the annoyingly cheerful ABBA tribute musical just to cleanse their palates. But the tragic fate of Heath Ledger and the terror of the Joker scared my mom so much, she refused to let me watch _The Dark Knight Rises_ when it premiered in 2012 (as well as the Aurora theatre massacre, perhaps.)

the first time i saw this movie i didnt even knew it is a batman movie and how big of a deal this movie was and still it gave me goosebumps. The batman film i remembered as a kid before this movie was the one with mr freeze.

There are 3 things that really stand out for me in this movie:
1. the Joker (surprise)
2. this violin that gets more and more intense when the scene gets more and more intense
3. that this movie does not seem to end bc theres always another ace up in the jokers sleeves

my favorite hidden detail is how Alot of the time, Harvey's face is usually viewed from a side angle so we never see his entire face head on, and alot of the time even when he is facing forward, half his face is in shadow. just good visuals

Personally, I think Aaron Eckhart is very underrated in this movie. I love his portrayal of Two-Face. He is just overshadowed by the performance of Heath Ledger.
The line "its not about what I want, its about what's fair" and "you thought we could be decent men in an indecent time" gives me chills everytime. Ledger, Eckhart, Oldman, and Bale were great in this film.

@Daniel Roberts I felt just like Gordon looked like he was feeling. Utterly destroyed by the fall of someone so good. Eckhart played that part so well. Ledger just had to go and give the performance of the century and upstage literally everyone else. But everyone in this film was spot on good.

I disagree with you sir. He is not necessarily underrated in this movie, he is awesome in this movie including his character development and story arc from the beginning of his life as a hero to the middle when he became dark and corrupt to his end when he died a monster, which was foreshadowed in the movie from his quote when he "lived long enough to see himself become the villain" and ironic from his quote when he died a villain instead of "dying a hero".

Omg that moment when joker takes off his mask and says "stranger" is sooo good. Just that sound making his voice kind of like an echo and it combines with the music to make that amazing intro. It's so fricking good. I get chills every time I hear it.

Actually, I’ll have you know, when they were shooting Game of Thrones, there’s a scene - well there’s a few, but one in the first season specifically - where Tyrion slaps Joffrey 3 times in short succession.
Jack Gleeson (who plays Joffrey) reportedly couldn’t get the "getting slapped" acting right, and thus told Dinklage (who plays Tyrion) to actually slap him for real. Which he then did. With all his golden rings still on.
Harvey shouting “you can’t give in” while half his face is visible and the other half in darkness. I love little moments like that in film.
There’s also irony to Alfred condemning the Joker by saying that “some men just want to watch the world burn.” Although Alfred is depicted as being on the side of order, it was Alfred’s team that burned down an entire forest to catch the jewel thief that he compares to the Joker throughout the movie.
No one freaks out when things go to plan.
Almost foreshadowing that in order to stop people like the Joker, you have to play into their hands and let them 'win'.

That thief was trying to do good by saving their home. Alfred was the villain in that story. Heck, the Joker is the only reason the mafia is dead.

Heath Ledger in this movie just keeps me coming back to not only this video but the actual movie itself. I just can't get enough of how hypnotizing an amazing of a performance he gave as the Joker. Truly iconic.
Fun fact: Ledger helmed his Joker videos himself. Nolan supervised the first, but Ledger knocked it so far out of the park that Nolan just left him to the others
First time I saw this movie, when Joker says "you and I are destined to do this forever", that was a moment of sadness for me. Because, yeah, I wanted them to. And Ledger was gone. He was a terrific actor and I wish we'd gotten at least another Joker from him. I don't mean that's the ONLY reason he's missed, just one of them.
Another film of his that is great is A Knight's Tale. Extremely talented actor, gone too early.

Fun fact: The Nolans did actually have a backstory for the Joker, five mutually exclusive ones, to be exact. The script writers were each assigned one of these at random and told not to look at any of the four others ever, and they shredded them afterwards to make sure none of them became 'canonical' after the film was released. All in order to really sell the 'Agent of Chaos' persona.

I agree with the Joker PTSD theory. But more specifically I think he was part of some black ops covert unit. Something classified. Which would explain why he's never identified. And since if he failed a mission or got captured, he probably would be disavowed, resulting in his hatred for the established order.

Sadly, so far iv only seen 2 people in the comments who have noticed, your one of them.
The fact that you can't tell that's Heath Ledger, even when you know it's Heath Ledger, is a massive testament to his skill as an actor, and his commitment to this role.
Nolan's direction, Zimmer and Newton-Howard's soundtrack, and the perfect casting made this film, in my opinion, the best of the three. And also one of THE best made films in cinema history. I remember seeing it the first time and being genuinely amazed at how DARK this film was. The corruption, the pencil gag, Harvey's descent, the ferry scene....
It really, REALLY changed superhero films I think (bearing in mind before this there'd only been Spiderman, X-Men, and Iron Man the same year), and there are VERY few things (literally count them on one hand) that I don't like in this film. In my mind, it's as close to perfect as a live-action film can be.
Bale is by far the coolest Batman and most important the best Bruce Wayne. His performance is so incredible, but Heath was just wow. I’ve never seen an better actor in my life. The way he portrayed an 70 years old character on his own new way is insane to me. That’s why no one will ever come close to him, because no one reinvents the characters by himself.
"See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve" (Joker's feelings on Heath Ledger's performance... and Heath's performance of the Joker, either way, that's brilliant).
Also, Heath Ledger's constant lip-smacking is a perfect imitation of a side effect of antipsychotic medications (called tardive dyskinesia) Such detail!

If there's any movie like The Dark Knight in the MCU, it's probably The Winter Soldier. Sure, The Dark Knight may be better, but it's not insulting to mention The Dark Knight with Infinity War, as, again, they're both completely different. Heath Ledger's Joker and Josh Brolin's Thanos were both really good interpretations of their characters, but they were different from each other. They both had opposite goals(?) But to say that mentioning The Dark Knight with Infinity War is insulting, is insulting to the people who spent a lot of time on Infinity War. The Dark Knight may have been a better movie, but Infinity War had more impact. They're both in my top 5 superhero movies of all time, and that's probably where they'll stay. If it's multiple choice, you have a higher chance of being right than trying to remember the exact answer. So...good logic in the Joker's part
The moment in the trailer when Joker says "...people will die. I'm a man of my word" then follows it with that laugh was when I knew this movie would be amazing and his Joker would be the standout. It works great in the film but as a moment with little context in the trailer it's such a powerful moment that eclipses everything that came before to show you this guy is something different.

14:00. Attention to detail. that Stain on Dent's Pillow from his scarred half always makes me Queasy. You can feel his bare face rubbing against the cloth. And makes it more real.
I remember when I was watching the movie for the first time, Two-Face really scared the shit out of me. I am that kid who get scared really easily. That stain makes the pain of his more "real".
The opening of this will always get me. The build up and syncopation in the drums/guitar timed with the tension on screen until you realise you've been watching the joker the whole time and his face reveal coincides with that dissonant note - it's just perfect. 🤯
Regarding the ferries, it was also possible that they were each holding their own detonators. I’m saying this in response to the “doctors “ not being the actual victims in the earlier scene
