    Your sincerity adds to the importance of your words. You and your husband showed a great deal of courage in order to protect your kids and get out. A childhood of isolation while having so many important parts of your growing up years, taken away, has to be very hard. It's as if your child has to live in fear and disappointment in order to be a respectable JW.

There's just some rules that are ridiculous. I highly advice any JWs or non JWs to look at both sides because just looking on the side that you agree on will blind you. Then again it's your life and your decision so do what you want and believe what you want.

    Thank you so much for sharing. I left JWs a long time ago. I disassociated myself formally with a letter. I was abused in various ways when growing up and all of it was covered up even with threats from my parents that I better not tell anyone what goes on at home. There were lots of cases of abuse going on that I had heard about from my friends in the congregation. It was horrible. The worst of it is that the perpetrators were always protected. My parents kicked me out of our home without warning when I was 18 and told everyone, especially the elders, that I was rebellious in order to cover up what was going on at home and protect their cover up and to protect my uncle, who was a JW and who sexually abused me. All 3 of them died in "good standing" with the organization. I also did research to find out the Society's stand on abuse and couldn't find anything at that time, decades ago. That was convincing enough for me to get out of that cult. I am very glad you and your family got out of it. It's the best thing you could have done for yourselves and your family. I wish you the very best.

    You're absolutely right ! I know from personal experience.. As soon as I decided to start thinking for myself I was labeled apostate. Been shunned for 10 yrs.All because I chose a nondenominational church! It took me 20 yrs to wake up & still have my "what if" moments. Few & far between now. If JW's are on these sites it's a good sign that they will start to question & start researching, hopefully! All of us Ex's have walked in their shoes. I want them to know that you can choose to make a great life for yourself after leaving & shunning ! It takes time though. Our lives were turned upside down . I refuse to let that organization take anymore away from me then it already has! The organization holds their members by using fear of Armageddon & shunning.. When you get past those 2 fears, you'll be free of their control & then start the work of deprogramming.. Which is a long road, I found out! There's a ton of support these days .. I had to do it alone.. Thank you all Ex's 🙏👍

Proof the governing body is not guided by holy spirit and completely ignores Matt24:36. False prophesies are the "fruits" of false religion. 12 false prophesies over the last century is not the mark of a divinely guided religion. Covering up child molestation and condoning spousal rape are pure evil.

The first one that I read is called "God without religion" by Andrew Farley. The second one is called "An Outsider's Guide to the Gospel" by Mick Mooney. They both are good. The second one is awesome. It was perfect after reading the first book. Mick Mooney's book absolutely blew up religion and my mind was blown away. After reading these 2 books, I now follow God with all my heart and do so completely without religion. God without religion makes so much sense to me personally. I encourage all people who have managed to escape a cult religion to read these books. Best wishes to you and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

When you lose a job, whole family, parents,spouses, children' grandkids plus every friend you have in the world, it can be devastating. Every one of them committed suicide! Some of them hadn't even committed a sin, just chose a different belief! Labeled apostate & disfellowshipped! I was born & raised a JW.. Believe me, I know how it works ! And if you are one of the people who do survive, the pain can turn into drug addiction, alcoholism or anything else to numb the pain ! If you are a JW & still shunning, shame on you. That is NOT the teachings of Jesus.. And if you've never been shunned, no need to comment !

Many vicars are now women and many higher up can now take part in church decisions.

    I knew the 1914 generation was going to be yet another 'old light flop', back when I was learning with JW's, as I discovered that 1914 is based on nothing tangible or historical in the real world.

      They are not allowed to be educated or do research. That would make them an apostate and possibly shun them (worse yet....the watch tower would lose control over their sheople). All cults, just like and abusive person, cut or seperate people from the world - this seperation enables the watch tower to have tighter control over their sheople. JW, as you know from personal experience, have been trained to respond to questions from the outside world....and their responses or collectively the same....That in itself is a warning sign. Why is it that there are very few organized "religions" that are deemed cults and past members have to be de-programmed? Well, the only two that come to mind are Scientology and JW. Unfortunately, it is hard to see your in a cult just the same thats its hard to see your a drug addict. Both are slaves and are wrapped in denial....its not that either one enjoys their situation, but that it is familiar. For either one to do something different typically requires some form of pain, and most importantly, great faith.

So, dont give me that shit that acting like someone does not exist (shunning) because they dont do what they are told has not effect. Try doing it to your children for 1 week because they didnt brush their teeth in circular motions. I mean totally ignore them like their dead - dont look at them, respond to then, take to school, cook their meals, hug them, tell them you love them, etc......then come and tell me it has no effect . In 1969, the Watchtower published a reference book called "Aid to Bible Understanding." and on pages 884-885 they explain that to the Jews the speaking of God's name was too holy to say, and so to avoid saying God's Holy name when reading the sacred texts, they added the vowels of "Adonai"( LORD) into the Tetragrammaton "YHWH". Instead the two words put together read: "Yehowah."
    In 1984 the Watchtower published a brochure called "The DIVINE NAME that will Endure Forever". Here on page 17 they confirm that the first rendering of the word "Jehovah" was put forth by Raymundus Martini a Spanish Monk.Raymundus Martini had published a book in 1270 AD called "Pugeo Fidei" in which he was the first to make up the word "Jehovah" , being his latinized version of this "Yehowah".There has never been a "J" in the Hebrew language. There was no "J" in the English language before the 15th Century. Jehovah is NOT "The" name of God but a man-made invention !

      part 1:Did we agree to praise the UN?Conspiracy theorists claim that the Watchtower Society agreed to meet special criteria to “become an NGO”. They say this was part of the application process and included the requirement that they must “print articles praising the UN” to “keep their NGO status”. Is this true? Did the Society have to do anything special or agree to do certain things, to be registered with the DPI?First of all, because the accusers don’t really know what they’re talking about, we must clear up a mistake they all make. We did not agree to “become an NGO” because we already were an NGO. A Non-Governmental Organization (“NGO”) is simply a name for an organization which is not part of a government. The name “NGO” is not only used by the UN. It is a term used all over the world by many different governments. There are an estimated 2 million NGOs in the United States alone, for example. So the Watchtower Society was already an NGO, always has been an NGO, and always will be an NGO.Therefore the accusation, when properly phrased, is: Did the Watchtower Society agree to meet any special criteria to become associated with the DPI?

    • @afterraincomessun
      @afterraincomessun Před 8 lety

      +afterraincomessun part 2:The answerThe DPI website describes the application process for NGOs to become associated with their office. Must NGOs, like the Watchtower Society, agree to a special list of criteria? Let us see.“Application ProcedureI. For NGOs that are currently NOT associated with DPI:The association process takes three to six months. The DPI Committee on NGOs that decides on association and disassociation meets twice a year, in June/July and December. Interested NGOs that meet the criteria should follow the steps:Send an official letter of request to be associated with DPI, provide a brief description of the organization and at least six samples of recent information materials.”...upon receipt of [these] documents, [we] will determine whether the formal application process for association can proceed.If the NGO Section finds that the NGO meets the criteria, the application form... will be sent to the NGO.”Notice that the first thing an NGO must do to be associated is surprising. They do not fill out an application form. No, the first thing they must do is send them“at least six samples of recent information materials”.Next, the DPI examines the material and decides whether the NGO meets their criteria. In other words, no NGO can say “I agree to meet your criteria”, or “if we are allowed to be associated with you, we will sign a statement agreeing to your criteria.” They can’t, because no such agreement exists. That is not how the application process works.Note that this is the process as of late 2007. So when the DPI has said in recent years that associated NGOs must “support the UN charter” or “share the ideals of the UN”, whether an NGO does this or not is determined by the DPI itself, and no one else. An NGO cannot state they agree to those terms, the DPI itself has the job of deciding if the NGO supports the same ideals as the UN and it’s charter, such as support for human rights, freedom of worship, etc.Only if the DPI decides that the NGO falls within the DPI’s criteria, do they send out an application form and a list of other required materials (such as proof of non-profit status). Evidently, the DPI must have determined that Jehovah’s Witnesses did meet the criteria because of our support for human rights and freedom of religion. So, we could not have “agreed to meet the UN’s criteria” because it doesn’t work that way. It seems, in fact, that an NGO does not have to “agree” to do anything, because the DPI itself examines the NGO and decides whether they meet the criteria or not.Therefore the accusation that the Society had made some sort of legal agreement to “write articles praising the UN” is nonsense. No such agreement exists, nor can it exist. Besides, we published balanced articles on the UN decades before we became DPI associated, and continue to do so, six years after ending the association (see the chapter Awake to Propaganda for more information). If Jehovah’s Witnesses had, for some reason, suddenly stopped writing anything about the UN, the DPI would simply have cancelled the association, like they have with other NGOs. In this case it would be because we would no longer be using the DPI’s facilities, and there would be no point in keeping us on the register.

      +theonewhoisntme part3
      Step by stepThis is the association process as we understand it from looking at the DPI’s own website:Step 1: An NGO sends copies of their printed articles to the DPI proving they are interested in UN issues and would make good use of their extensive library facilities to educate the public on UN issues.Step 2: A few months later, the DPI will examine the articles and decide whether the NGO appears to share the ideals of the UN charter, that it isn’t racist, etc. They probably also decide whether the NGO is big and important enough to make good and proper use of their facilities, such as their conferences and film screenings, etc, which would be wasted resources on insignificant NGOs.Step 3: Upon deciding that the NGO is suitable for association, the DPI sends the NGO an application form to complete and return, along with a list of any other materials they need.Step 4: The NGO completes the application form. This did not require a signature back in 1991 when the Watchtower Society became associated, nor did it mention anything about “supporting the UN charter”, etc. (the scans sections has a copy of this form)Step 5: The DPI receives the completed application form and related materials back (like proof of non-profit status, etc). Once processed, the DPI issues library access passes to the NGO’s representatives.This completes the application process. There is no “agreement” or contract stipulating what the NGO has to do from that point onwards. Provided the NGO remains within the DPI’s guidelines for associated NGOs, then the association will continue. That is why no signature was needed on the old 1991 application form, nor on the old accreditation forms.Later, however, it becomes time to complete a new accreditation form (a copy of this is in the scans section) and to supply articles to the UN as proof that they have indeed used the DPI’s facilities. If the NGO cannot produce any such proof, they would be removed from the DPI’s NGO association register due to lack of use. No agreement to do anything was necessary or required.

    01:28 yes and The Watchtower has made many changes without scriptural backing, dozens of times in the past. For example, Russell preached that Christ's Return occurred in 1874. This was changed to 1914 by Judge Rutherford in the Watchtower 1932 Nov 1 p.325 without any scriptural backing. In the Proclaimer's Book, they state that the change from 1874 to 1914 happened in 1943. In my opinion they do not reference The Watchtower 1932 as it wasn't until 1943 that the organization actually attempted to reference the Bible to explain why the change was made to 1914.
    For more information Google _"1914 : Failed Watchtower Prophecy"_ there is a full page with references explaining this
    03:41 yes the God as presented by The Watchtower is a vindictive, cruel, manipulative personality. A god with a man's ego.

    You look and sound like such a kind and sweet person and obviously after watching your video a very responsible and aware mother! I'm really so happy for you because the Jehovah's Witnesses will slowly create fear in you and your family about the Armageddon which would grow throughout time since they repeat this constantly, then they will require you to shun or not speak to anyone that has been excommunicated from their religion or that is not of their religion. Just those two things will add significant fear and a break-up of your family and future friends should your children grow up disinterested in their religion or not obey their laws. You have no idea how much grief you've saved yourself and your family! I have been through so much with this religion that I couldn't even attend my father's funeral today without their shunning and just left early. This is one tiny example of an entire lifetime of this! You DON'T need any human being to enable you to be closer to God, you only need love and appreciation which you obviously already have!

    I studied with JW years ago. One of their main premises is that the body and the soul are one and the same. However, this belief is contradicted by Jesus himself, when he told his disciples not to be afraid of people who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul, to instead be afraid of the One who can kill BOTH [meaning two] the body AND the soul. Furthermore, the bible teaches to avoid the consumption of blood. However, it also teaches not to murder. So if one of their children needs a blood transfusion, they'd opt to have their children die. In my opinion the bible is clearly referring to eating blood, not to receiving a blood transfusion, which is not eating blood. There are other issues where JW are dead wrong, which is why I prefer not to be a JW.

    • @MiguelRodriguez-zd6tq
      @MiguelRodriguez-zd6tq Před 8 lety +1

      Darryl Ruiz Quite true! But if you have an illness that will definitely kill you, and only a blood transfusion will keep u alive, what's the big deal? The blood is not consumed as food; it's taken as medicine. Today the blood is screened for all kinds of illness causing agents. Sure there are no guarantees. But that's true for most therapies. I prefer that my child, who may have a cancer or other illness that requires transfusions to give him a chance, to get the transfusion even if it will add just one more second of life.

      +emsie76 I hate to be a pessimist, but the fact is, no one goes where they don’t want to go. Your friend is not being “drawn in” as you say, they are going in the direction they’ve chosen. I’ve had numerous online “debates" with JW’s which objectively, were won decisively, and yet was unsuccessful at changing anyone’s mind. For this reason, I’m not sure that any amount of wrangling over doctrine will avail anything at this point. But If your friend hasn’t yet been fully _assimilated_, then it may still be possible to reach them by exposing the organization itself which can be done quite easily and effectively, but you’ll need to educate yourself. The best and easiest way to expose the Watchtower is by demonstrating;
      1 The Watchtowers persistent misrepresentation of church history.
      2 The fact that the Watchtower has claimed inspiration for itself, despite assertions to the contrary, and yet has made predictions which have failed to materialize over and over again.
      For the first point, I would recommend J.N.D. Kelly’s work _”Early Christian Doctrines.”_ I recommend this resource because Kelly is often quoted (albeit out of context) by the Watchtower, so they acknowledge him as an authority. It’s not an easy read, but you don’t have to read the whole thing. In chapter iv, _The Divine Triad_, he shows that the belief in the eternality, and full ontological equality of Christ with the Father was the all but universal belief of the church for the first three centuries. In chapter v, _Third-Century Trinitarianism_, he shows that by the third century, *_100 years before the Trinity was supposedly invented by Nicaea_*, the doctrine of the Trinity was already solidifying. The Watchtower has lied, and continues to lie to it’s people about these things, and armed with this knowledge, it can be demonstrated. It’s important to remember though that you’re not trying to prove the deity of Christ, only that the Watchtower has lied to its members about what the early church believed.
      For the second point, I would recommend this website:
      corior.blogspot.com/2006/02/part-1-why-so-many-false-alarms.html
      If you click on the link _What Is A False Prophet_, it takes you to a section which shows beyond disputation that the Watchtower has in fact, claimed to be a prophet to the point of being inspired, and yet has made false prophecy after false prophecy.
      My experience with JW’s is that they have no response whatsoever when confronted with this information. Hopefully you can reach your friend with it in time.
      Blessings..

      relying on God to guide your own personal path, follow His Son's life, commands etc..by constant prayer and bible reading, is much more difficult, than to blindly follow a so-called spiritual man, group, that want or need to create their own disciples. look how many times the org. has made wrong choice's in God's name, disassociated, or worse, disfellowshipped some who disagreed with their rendering of scripture, than some time later, the org. changes their minds on subject, Do they reinstate those they punished, "NEVER" they remain in their judgement not because they were wrong, but because they would not submit to the org's. thinking at the time. The crazy thing is that we are told to go to the elders for help if we have a problem but the elders are not allowed to be open minded, they have no choice but to follow the WBTS opinions. So to talk to the elders about blood transfusions and to shed light on the matter is pointless. They will not do their own research on the matter.

    Your choice is what you have to live with. Child abuse has to do with individuals, not the organization. No one tells you Not to take on higher education. your choice! Yes I did not understand the generation doctrine either, but who is really trying to help us understand Bible truths? Just because something is not totally clear, we leave it? Sounds like the disciples that left Jesus when he said "Eat my flesh and drink my blood." And speaking of blood, if God said don't eat/drink/take blood. Who is man to tell us otherwise? Isn't Faith in Jehovah better than the best surgeon? It's your choice....I am sorry you are not going to the meetings because of that. There is so much more you learned vs. what makes you doubt.

    • @roxylamour1119
      @roxylamour1119 Před 8 lety +5

      If you bite your tongue while eating and your tongue bleeds that means you sinned, at least going by your logic. Therefore the blood transfusions shouldn't be considered a sin because it makes absolutely no sense. As for the higher education it depends, in my observation the elders' children are allowed to do whatever they want including higher education but the other children are peer pressured not to and if they do they get bullied and criticized.

    • @dawill2doit
      @dawill2doit Před 8 lety +3

      No that's not my logic. That's yours. If you eat blood from an animal not properly bled. That was a sin. In Acts Paul said they should abstain from blood, hence eat /drink. I try not to confuse people, the Bible is not trying to trick us.

    • @roxylamour1119
      @roxylamour1119 Před 8 lety +2

      Sorry but you're wrong and you're missing the point. I'm going by your logic that drinking/taking blood is a sin. Therefore if you bite your tongue and it bleeds that equals sin going by your rules of no blood. Do you have the ability to think? This no blood rule is asinine.

    • @dawill2doit
      @dawill2doit Před 8 lety

      Foxy. I will try to explain it from the Bible viewpoint. Not mine. Blood means life, and it was commanded to be poured out before the animal was eaten. Blood was not to be eaten. If you got cut yourself and sucked your cut or bit your lip and drank YOUR blood that is not the same. You are not to drink blood eat blood from another soul. The blood means life. This is not my logic, this belongs to GOD. If you read it I will be happy to give you the scriptures to help you see what God wants. Not me.

    • @dawill2doit
      @dawill2doit Před 8 lety +1

      If you have your Bible handy, you will see God told the Israelites that blood is sacred. In Leviticus 17:14 he said the soul is its blood. Which means if the blood were to run out of our body we should die. I can see this subject is dear to your heart. Rest assured I, nor any Sane person would allow their child die due to blood refusal. But there are alternatives to blood usage. I ask that you see and hear it for yourself. www.jw.org/en/publications/videos/blood-transfusion-alternative-strategies/

    I had a friend who lived in a larger city and often she had Jehovah's Witnesses come to her door time and time again. It was suggested to her that should they come around in the winter time she should give them each a golf ball!!! WTHH I thought that was the dumbest advice anyone can give!
    My gf tried it and within 2 months and there after she never saw another Jehovah's Witness ever come to her door again.
    It was to imply that a JW would put a golf ball into their gloves so that they wouldn't get cold fingers/hands from knocking on doors in freezing weather yet when they used the golf balls to knock on the doors it would make their knocking so much louder that when the homeowner came to the door he/she would be so ticked off by the loud door banging they wouldn't give a JW one second to explain why they were there. Instead the JW's would walk away after a verbal blasting from the home owner!
    Where I live is very rural and I have yet to see one JW come out even near where I live or else I would also give them some golf balls!

Where Man will Make It All Great Again! You talk about the Prince of Peace! and then reject His appointment as King of Jehovahs Kingdom! Why? Your pride will not let you. You would have to admit your wrong teaching, beliefs, lifestyles. And only the honest hearted humble ones can do that. For you Clergy Guys your money, your position, your haughty pride and elevated sense of yourself cannot allow that. You could not admit that the Trinity is a falsehood even many see that for themselves. You could never admit that you lived a lie! But guess what? many has! And walked away from the Harlots and has stayed away. These ones has seen and accepted the truth. They didn't come to serve Jehovah out of selfishness. They learned what the love of God means. And they know what salvation is and endurance to the end will be granted to them. They love Jehovah God from their hearts and serve him for not a date in mind but eternity. Even though we know that in the Bible that salvation belong to a few, because of their obedience, it's sad for you that you refuse to humble yourself and be taught by the only one who will save you.

And if what you believe is not in keeping with the Bible, then you should welcome the truth, because it leads to light and life."
