  • A trio of GW delight... are you wondering what the differences are between the Rangeman GW-9300, the Mudman G(W)-9300 and lastly the Riseman GW-9200?...
    Just to add that the Mudman used in this review is the G-9300 which the only difference is, the GW-9300 has Multi-band 6 and a carbon in the strap
    This video will show you all their functions including their quirks so you’ll have the best understanding and experience of how they compare to each other.
    And yes, the brightness was glowing on my finger tips, so instead of having a hissy fit, just lower the brightness your end and save those angry lines... cheers :)

    I have the GW-9400 Rangeman and IMHO its the best digital display G-Shock ever made. It has all the sensors that we need (except the depth gauge) and it looks so damn good. It also pave the way for me know/befriend my good buddy Mr, Rangeman.. Cheers to you Buddy!!!

      I bought my GW-9400 from the reviews from TimeToGo and Watch Geek... I traded in a ProTrek for it... best all round G-Shock, and the easiest to use... love the ABC single button, and how it remembers the last sensor you used :)

      I had the same as you 2500, and it was the REC side of that ProTrek that I wasn't fully happy with, it just looked too complicated to read quickly, while the GW-9400 does this with ease on the eye ;)

      I'm thinking to flip mine :( but it keeps me from doing it, and I can't understand why... think it's because it's slender, vintage looking and has a unique shape and build... the Barometer is great and the fact it's solar and MB6 is the trick as it looks too old to have that inside.... I don't wear it very much at all, and it's not old enough to sit with the DW-5000c and those older G's.... I know I will see it one someones wrist and go all slush and keep it LML :-P

      My friend... use the GG-B100 without worry... in fact you could abuse it over two weeks I'm sure using the compass without seeing the LOW on the display. Really easy battery replacement too... the Bluetooth uses so little energy, it has a really fast module which again uses less energy... if you bought the GW-9400 say, then combine their strengths I'd say. The GG-B100 has a really good barometer, the compass uses the second hand to point to north, plus the backlight is a torch... don't be afraid to use it, the battery will last longer than you think.

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 2 lety +1

      Unfortunately these don't have the adjustment for a particular date, they're all daily alarms... even my DW-5600c has this option, and why it's not included throughout I have no idea... the G-9000 is very similar to my GLX-5600, as that has the date option in the alarms, but that has the twist with the tide and moon, so a very practical all rounder... the most modern of G-Shocks with something like that, is the GW-B5600, which isn't as such as an alarm, but a reminder which can be set for any date in the future, would've been great if it was acting like an alarm, backed with ((VIBE)) but CASIO don't listen enough I feel these days, more about cosmetic adjustments more than anything... maybe pester the MR-G department as they seem to be more risk taking :-P

    I prefer the Mudman over the Rangeman and that's why I own one now. The compass display is more legible as it doesn't have those lines blocking it and it's built as a more tough watch due to the focus on mud resistance. Yes the buttons are hard to press, but not as hard as the older Mudmans. It has all the features I need as well with nothing over the top and that's what attracted me towards it. I found the tide graph Casio's to be useless as you have to update the high tide times frequently for it to be accurate and I'm not a surfer so that would do. The moon phase is a useful feature for me and it is very accurate when I compare it with the lunar calendar.
    I have heard problems with the Rangeman regards to the lugs as the break off when the watch is used roughly. Though, I have yet to see that myself. I also find the display small to use the compass sensor properly as well as seeing the remaining hours of the day in the sunrise and sunset mode.
    A little wrong on the first "Man" watch. It was actually the Frogman DW6300. The sensor on the left side of the Mudman is the bearing sensor and it has a 1,000 hour stopwatch. Also, did you know that the Riseman was the first G-Shock to have MB6? You might want to mention that next time 😜 cheers.

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey buddy... I would agree, the Mudman is that little more solid built, and the compass kills the GW-9400 because it's clearer without those lines! I was thinking more of the land series of the 'Men' than the Frogman's, and to me, the Frogs are really in their own department with early ones having no sensors, so it was more that way of thinking with the Man's :))
      I forgot it was the first G-Shock with Atomic, and I would've mentioned that for sure... I have flipped my GW-9200 Riseman and the GWX-56 is also gone, I have now 7 G-Shocks I use more frequently... but the GG-B100 is still the one I use the most often :-P I've kind of gone off the GW-9400 now, as the GG-B100 just does it better... but the GW-9400 is still a great watch, probably one of the best ABC G-Shocks when getting more serious into them... I hear lugs breaking, now, this isn't to do with those silly jaysandkays adaptors??? I'm brutal with mine, and never had lug issues, I feel the user is at fault, maybe over tightening the strap screws??? but feel adaptors could be the real reason, and G-Shock ain't having any of it???
      The Mudman could be the toughest G-Shock, and I like the buttons being hard to press, at least it's not beeping in every tight space LML ;_P

    • @traviswalker8933
      @traviswalker8933 Před 3 lety +1

      @@WatchUP69MrRangeman the first Man watch in the land series was the Mudman DW-8400. I agree with you about passing on the watches to someone else who'd use them instead of letting them collect dust. Didn't know you'd love the B100 so much but I agree. The sensor features are more usable on that one compared to the 9400.
      If you still have the 9300 Mudman, a mud resistance test is in order between that and the Mudmaster to see which one can survive the elements better. I think that would be a fun video.
      I don't find the buttons too hard to press. They are easier to press compared to the 9000 Mudman and the battery change is a pain on that watch as you have to take the straps and the housing off to do so which takes a lot of time and effort.

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety

      @@traviswalker8933 The idea of those protective plates over the buttons on the G-9300 Mudman, would be to prevent button presses more than dirt... when I remove the bezel and all the other trimmings, it's usually quite full of dirt, so to me, it's better to have the buttons more exposed, thus the dirt can at least escape.
      with regards to testing, the GWG-1000 would be better, mainly because it has more grip on the buttons, the G-9300 does offer more resistance to button presses, thus better in more confined places like pot holing, but can't say I know anyone who wears a watch for that... but with mud covering, there isn't anything to define them... maybe having sapphire would keep scratches being less obvious, but to be honest, I've not experienced marks on mineral crystal when in the dirt.
      The crown on the GWG-1000 would be something I wouldn't want to use in Mud, think testing that would just be a ruin to the shaft on the Mudmaster, so thus why I use the GG-B100 the most :))
      I haven't really worn the GWG-1000 much, just have it as they are going up in value, so would be annoyed if I wanted it again only to see they cost £900 instead of £350... overlays mine is worth more as it has some of my DNA on it LML :-P

    Great comparo vid. IMO Casio has screwed up big on the 9300's deployment. Should've included the GW variant for the export market even without the carbon fiber-backed band. Also should've included the frontal light button config such that the RHS buttons can retain the two-way forward/reverse adjustment functionality. Meanwhile retention of double-pinned clasp design would've been nice as well......
    Have been wearing the G-9000 as my daily runner and only started to look into the 9300 (as a replacement) fearing that the 9000 would be discontinued. Turns out this is just not the case yet...
    The 9400 OTOH has also been on my wishlist. But the price, the actual sensor usage, and the uneven LED backlighting performance have made me steer away......
    Meanwhile I don't see a future with the Riseman where the 9200 was a 2008-09 model and has no direct successor whatsoever......
    So as long as the basic-colored G-9000 is still available I'll continue to purchase it as replacement to any previous 9000s that may have reached EOL......

    Hello. I have a question. I have my Riseman for many years now, and since some days i have a new Rangeman. I like both watches very much, but i'm confused about one thing. Why is there so a big difference between the barometer of the Riseman and the barometer of the Rangeman? If it is a precision sensor, wouldn't both watches show the same level of hpa? I thought, maybe one sensor is working not correct, but then i watched your video, and i saw, that your Riseman and Rangeman also have different levels of hpa. Do you know the reason for it? Is that normal for g-shocks?

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey buddy... try adjusting them both at the same value and see how they compare after a week say... I feel the sensor on the Riseman is more true, but it's only by two digits. Now air pressure isn't effected by the build of the watch, so it's down to the sensor. The barometer sensors aren't that complex, it's really between two objects moving really... I find that all my Barometer watches are differing, but only by a few numbers.
      If you calibrate it against the Rangeman and let me know how they compare say from a week today and I'll do the same :)

    What is your opinion on the gigantic G-Shock movement in terms of watch size? they've Exceeded the point of being so big they are unwearable IMO!
    I have a 7 inch wrist and my range man GW 9400 is as big as I could possibly go, almost too big. I can't imagine the GBD 1000.
    the thing is I've watched a lot of G-Shock videos where they disassemble the Range man 9400 and mention that the watch could easily fit all the components inside in a much smaller package but they choose to make the watch super large...
    To me it's getting to a point where it's just absolutely silly! you could shave 30% off the new Rangeman gbd 1000 and I still wouldn't wear due to its clown size...

      I feel if a new Rangeman does happen, that it should be more sized to suit more wrist sizes, and I agree, it's a big dinner plate, even for my 7.5 wrist. I watched gshock highfashion take his apart, and there was a lot of case, but also there's a lot of solar surface, so feel the size was upon that side, as the solar really does make a big difference. I feel the size has placed many off heading towards the Garmin Instinct, and can't blame them, but those who own the GPR-B1000 have really bonded with it, and despite the size forgive it as it's a beast on power reserve.
      I've since flipped my GW-9200 Riseman as I bought the GG-B100 Mudmaster and a few others... it's kind of replaced my GW-9400 too, mainly because it offers more, and the time can be viewed in very low lighting... it's one of the most comfortable G-Shocks I own too.
      The G-9300 Mudman is my full on beater watch, mainly because it's compact and doesn't catch on anything, plus the pushers don't get knocked easily when in those tight spaces like working on a motorcycle engine :)
      Sometimes G-Shock just like to test what collectors are looking for, and when the GX-56 The King came out, this was at the time the biggest G-Shock, and oddly had the most tiniest of modules that was just buried in the watch, but has proven to be a hit, so if it's not for you, then for another who is looking for that something bigger.
      I've not heard anything with regards to a Gen 3 Rangeman, but if they do, then it'll have to be something that's sized like a Mudman!

      The GW-9400 is without doubt a solid choice, it offers all you need with some nice quirks within the module. Only down side, if you like the compass to show a bigger north bearing, then that will be on the smaller side as it uses the sub-dial.
      There is also the price difference too, the GW-9400 is bang for buck, but they are creeping up in price.
      Do you like all digital, or do you like the ani-digital the most? Analog is excellent in low lighting, and the second hand is used in the compass, plus it's used as a difference indicator.

      @@Rivals-jo4ns There is a handful of negative displays that work really well in low lighting, and the GWN-Q1000 Gulfmaster is good, the GD350 is really good, but the GPR-B1000 is just brilliant, could say it's better :-P
      Looking forward to when you get it, and of course HaPpY Birthday more importantly :)))

      @@Rivals-jo4ns The GW-9400 when it first came out was quite expensive, it's really classed as a Master of G, look at the back case, that's really more towards the Master side... but on the twist the prices really dropped about 3yrs ago, and in one shot they were selling them for £99... sold out pretty quickly, but now they seem to be around the £200-250 for the basic model, and increase depending if you want one of the more colourful variants.
      I've seen the best prices from the USA, Uk is very expensive and it doesn't look like they're going down anytime soon.
      Maybe worth holding back, or maybe find a perfect pre-loved one??? then you'll have some money towards a nice Birthday meal out :))

      Buddy, just sold my Riseman, as I bought the GG-B100 Mudmaster... great watch and enjoyed the times with it, but like to rotate my regular G-Shock's and the GG-B100 just offers a side I need more... I use my G-Shock's as intended, and they all need to offer something different... I only collect the vintage G-Shocks, and I guess one day the Riseman will be in that place... prices have quietened down and you're looking at £130 for a nice condition GW-9200... just make sure the silver sensor label is present when looking at the black version, as I've seen some with it missing, and this means the bezel has been replaced.
      Cheers
