Like the captivating voice, crystal clear and non hurried. Great review and thanks for helping me make a decision. Cheers !
Thanks for that - glad you found this helpful :)
Just got mine.( I know a few years behind the new models) And of course I came to your channel to learn more about it. Thanks
Awesome man, it's a great G-Shock. Hope you found the video helpful :)
@Perth WAtch greetings from 2023! the GW-9400 is my favorite watch to this day. Many thanks for your video!
Amazing! I too am in 2023 :)
Ordered one yesterday. Glad I watched ( pun intended) your video the next day, it solidified my decision . Enjoy the info and your professional delivery and close up of product is spot on. 👍🏻
Haha I guess we watch buyers like reinforcement for our decisions! In this case, you really don’t have to look far :)
Greetings from Canada. I love your channel. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much - I'm glad you like the videos!
Just got one. I love it. Still trying to get all the functions down. Thanks for the video, it helps.
Glad you found it helpful! It's an awesome watch with a ton of features :)
Very detailed review my friend! Definitely convinced me to get this watch.
Thank you for that - appreciate the positive feedback! I'm sure you will not regret the purchase - it's a great watch!
What a valuable review. Really helped me make a decision. THank you.
Thanks man, glad it was helpful :)
I purchased this watch after my citizen dive master pro watch finally drowned. I thought the review covered a lot of the questions I will have when it arrives later today. Thank you for your time and review.
Most welcome dude, glad you found this helpful! :)
If you like diving you should have got the Frogman. It’s a better built watch.
@@andresmiguel2573 also like triple the price and much larger sadly
Best G shock ever
It’ll give any a run for sure :)
Thanks for that - very detailed comment and some very good thoughts there! Pretty sure this is still in production as you can easily get it for good price and I still see it displayed widely in dealers. The band on my plain version is just resin, but there are versions where there is CF mixed in for extra durability.
I was aware of the different firmware / software between models, but thanks for the reminder and details.
Nice
I have this watch for two years. I am sailor. So the watch is everyday in the water salt and fresh water in the shower. So...how long do you guys think that this G-Shock can last under this heavy use?...
Cheers watch people
The resin may wear down and need replacement, but the core module should last as long as you need it
Great review, i love how you went thru all the functions. i have been wearing the protreks for years, i am thinking of making a change to this G-Shock as alot of my former military mates swear by them. Keep up the great work, i will now add you to my sub list! cheers

Thanks for the positive feedback and the support - it is much appreciated! :)
@@PerthWAtch the compass is more usable on ProTreks due to the larger display.

Ha, never noticed that you reviewed this watch before. I love the Rangeman. I calibrate it before I head to Colorado and works very well. The barometer and altitude work well after calibration. Very tough watch.
AFAIK it remains the top selling G-Shock of all... easy to why too, it really offers an unparalleled suite of functions and features for $200! :)
Thank you for nice review. I just ordered all black version of this piece of beauty. Hopefuly i am going to use it in a few days.
Nice - thank you, glad you found this helpful :)
Your gonna love
Great review, Bought the Rangeman on Wednesday, fantastic watch, very comfortable on the wrist.
Thanks for the feedback Archie. The Rangeman is fantastic value for the buck - I hope you enjoy it for a good long time!
Perth WAtch No worries fella, Now saving for the Oris Staghorn
Wow, nice choice! That's a very interesting special edition of the Aquis, a great dive watch for sure!
Got both!! Mudman was my first nice g-shock
Amazing!!
*Thanks for your fine review. Based on it I just bought one on Amazon. It’s the first digital watch that will occupy space adjacent to my analog mechanical automatic watches in my small collection.*
That’s awesome man, glad this was helpful! You don’t have any analog quartz then?
Perth WAtch :
Actually yes I do. I’m very fond of Citizen and Seiko watches. My upmarket watches are Rolex Explorer II (courtesy ex-wife) and Rolex Sea Dweller (courtesy current wife 😄). But I get an enormous amount of pleasure from the accuracy of quartz watches, so I do have a few. I’ve been missing getting a good digital wristwatch for some time now. My next watch will probably be a Marathon. In the meantime, I’ll be looking forward to the Casio *GW-9400* arriving next week with much anticipation. I just had the Sea Dweller serviced last month. It cost US$842.00!
Just ordered one of these, excited to get it. Looks like a great watch. Nice video too.
Thanks for the comment - I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's the best selling G-shock of all! :)
Perth WAtch just received it, that packaging I think is awesome. It’s definitely a manly and tough looking piece. Now to read manual and learn to use everything.
Haha great to hear - enjoy it, it's an awesome G-shock!
I have a GW-9400, a GWG-2000, and a Proteck with the movable compass ring. Great watches! I have these for a number of years. I bought the GWG-2000 a year ago. Expensive but is terrific. It is a bit more complicated to use. The Proteck is solar and radio time adjusted. I am located in Canada, and therefore the radio setting works often.
That’s great mate, thanks for sharing!
The best watch on earth.. End of story
Thanks for that - very definitive :)
surely not end of story
I can't wait. Mine arrives Friday. Bought that and a 6900 with Christmas gift money... My first G Shocks!
Awesome - I'm sure you're gonna love them!
A great end of story if ever there was one :D
I am planning to buy a watch for outdoor activities mainly trekking - confused between Rangeman 9400 and fenix 5x - any thoughts?

I love your voice and accent. Reminds me of my uncle. Wherever he is in Australia. Also, just bought this watch lol. Sorry I'm weird.
Haha thanks for that... your uncle doesn't happen to also be Chinese Aussie does he?
@@PerthWAtch He's Lebanese Aussie! He's down there somewhere. He goes off the grid for a long while at a time. If you see a long white haired bearded man with a pony tail, tell him his nephew in Miami Florida is looking for him. 😂
Haha wow, that's awesome man! :)
Was after a new g shock googled ones but really like this one ordered it online for half the price from jewellers in australia. Can't wait comes with 2 yrs warranty replacement hell yea
Half price of the Aussie MSRP is about what one should pay... that would comparable to international sources. Enjoy! :)
I am considering getting this one or the GWG Mudmaster. But I guess I'll end up getting both.
Haha indeed, why not - I did! :)
Nice review. I just got the green one.
Thanks for the feedback - hope you enjoy it, it's a great watch!
Goede uitleg. Dank je wel. En ik wil wel meer zien. Van de Casio pro trek. En ook van de rangeman.
What
I have the Rangeman for 4 years now. For serious outdoor activities, it's more likely I wear the Rangeman.... But I have the Mudmaster GWG-1000 too and it is a beautiful watch man. I wear it for hiking, camping and as an everyday use watch. Also it hasn't got a snooze function and only a 60 min. countdown unlike the Rangeman. The Mudmaster is more twice the price of the Rangeman. But if you have the money and you can afford it get it. I purchased mine as an Xmas gift for myself. Sometimes you're allowed to fancy yourself 😉😉.
Hey there, thanks for the comment! Great to hear of your own experiences with these two watches. For myself I now honestly give the Rangeman significantly more time, however I do love the Mudmaster - main thing stopping me from wearing more is its sheer size which doesn't make it suitable for as many contexts IMO. If only I had bigger wrists and arms :)
Perth WAtch The Rangenan is a sweet watch. You can wear your Mudmaster around your biceps 😎😎😉😉. Well I got the Mudmaster since december, so it is now my new fav, but still love and wear the Rangeman. There will be a new Rangeman coming out in 2018. Fully digital, bluetooth. If you have time check it out.
Hahaha Ok I will try to fit it around the bicep! :)
Ah how interesting that new model - not sure how I feel about the all pixel display, that's a first for G-Shock! Certainly don't feel great about the $800 MSRP!
Perth WAtch I am pro independant watches. Tough Solar and Time keeping. That's why I don't like smart watches in the sense that they need to be charged constantly and that the life spam of the battery is an issue too. Besides that, all the software update. Hope G-Shock isn't going in that direction, it'll suit the Pro-Trek more.
Haha at first I thought you were referring to independent watch brands! Good thought, and instinctively that's why I like solar watches among the quartz choices. Yes I think if the need to charge is significant, that would be a serious bother to me... I used a FitBit for a whole year (this was before I became interest in watches) and that was the main reason why I stopped.
*_Yo, the chrome buttons w/ the chrome screws sets that off consummately!!! The chrome gleams are more pronounced when rotating your wrist. It makes the timepiece look like a classic automobile._*
*_Man I want 1 of these!!! And I thought my Riseman GW-9200 was nice._*
Yeah it's quite a nice effect and certainly sets these Master of G watches apart from the standard ones :)
You replied on every Comments "Amazing"...!

thanks heaps for the video, very useful. I have subed. I am in the ACT Australia, where is the best place to buy this watch? in Oz or online?
Hi there, thanks for that! Definitely online I reckon... I got it on eBay but there are a number of other online retailers with competitive pricing. Cheers, Ivan.
Didn't know that this was mud resist as well. Great to know!
Bonus!!
Top tip. If you live in Australia (or anywhere else outside the atomic clock signal range) set the home city to Tokyo, and leave your watch around your bike frame overnight (or any other metal structure). This will tend to amplify the signal, and voila! You can synchronise your watch. The following morning just set city back to SYD or PER etc. It works!
Yeah some people mentioned that method, although others have tried and found it did not work. Pretty sure it won’t in Perth... Brisbane might have a chance.
This should only work if you're like say 5-10 stories up and facing either the chinese or japanese tower's general direction from where you are
I would have to suggest that if Australia does it have and atomic clock that they make one, or if all they need is an antenna they get one. That's why I love G-Shock. They are fun.
Yep, have to agree that is a great suggestion - but maybe 24 million population isn't big enough of a market for Casio to bother...??
Great review. I want to buy this watch in a couple of months. Added this video to "Watch Later"
Thanks for that - all the best with getting the Rangeman, it's a great watch!
Purchased this watch a couple of days ago. I have a gwg1000 and gprb1000 in my collection and although I appreciate the engineering that has gone into those watches, the gw9400 seems to be the more practical watch to wear daily. It is a really solid build and looks awesome.
Thanks for the thought - yes I think this is definitely more practical!
Great review!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you :)
Still a fantastic watch now in 2020. Mine gets more wrist time than any other watch I own. Syncs every night with the atomic clock, battery is always on the full mark, takes a daily beating and all functions are 100%. If you don't have one, get one!
Haha that’s awesome man, glad to hear you’re getting excellent use out of it!
Mine is always medium battery, never was full, I can't make it full. Is it damaged?
Great Review!!!
Thanks for that Tom, glad you enjoyed it!
I have 12 G-SHOCK and I have all four mud masters but I never owned a rangeman, this is perfect for me
1) perfect size
2)has solar
3)has triple sensors just in case u need it
4)it’s very rugged looking which I like a lot
Only thing I’m not happy with is the mineral glass but it’s not a huge deal for me as I don’t go hiking or in extreme conditions but it would be nice to have sapphire glass too
Thanks for sharing - wow four mud masters! Which models do you have? I love my GWG-1000!
Super review! Easily one of the best. I bought the GG1000 without understanding what I was buying, It was an impulse buy. I really like the GG1000 a lot and have been struggling with buying the GWG1000 because I would feel like I had duplicated my effort and would be paying a premium for my haste. Someone might say sell the GG1000. Can't do it , I like it too much. Enter the Rangeman 9400 . Problem solved. All the features plus sunrise sunset, only $200.00. I can deal with a $200 fix over a $500 fix. You buy screen protectors for little more than $10.00 on amazon , this solves the sapphire lens dilemmac. I should see my new Rangeman by the end of the week. Can't wait. Now I must stop watching these G Shock videos. I want them all.
Haha thanks for that, glad you found this video helpful! I'm sure you will enjoy the Rangeman, it is an awesome watch. Screen protector is an interesting idea but thanks to the substantial G-Shock resin bezels I've never bothered and also haven't had a problem :)
@@PerthWAtch Both my GG1000 and Protrek WSD-20 smart watch have a stupid little hair type scratch right across the face. It's just visible enough for me to see so that's why I go with the sceen protector, usually 3 to 5 come in a pack. If you scare one up you can pop a new clean one on. They are very durable, I haven't had to change one out yet . Both watches have a substantial bezel, just my luck. Thanks for commenting back.
but the protective film could affect or even block the solar function
@@bossmodus5020 How?
How did you solve the lugs issue?
can you please tell me if I should go for this rangeman model or the green one with negative display? I really love both and I don't have the budget to buy both lol. I also wanted to know if you know about the black panther rangeman it's just awesome.
Hi there, I have experience with both positive and negative display Casio watches and on overall balance, I personally prefer positive displays - I just find them easier to read in a wider range of lighting conditions. Add on the greater versatility of black, I would have to recommend going for this black model.
I've heard about the "black panther" black Rangeman with negative display - it looks rad but I still hesitate about the display there. Hope that's helpful! Regards, Ivan.
good review. thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback! :)
Nice review bro... confuse in black and olive green colour
Thanks for that bro! :)
Great review, but you forgot one thing that I really like. You can change the day to the BARO graph by pressing the upper left button.
Yes you're right about that! Good point out!
Thanks for the tip! I was wondering how to get the baro graph to be displayed with the time.
My daily watch for the last 3 years, love it to death.
It's an awesome watch and will withstand nearly anything :)
How is the resin and screen look? Noticeable wear?
Just placed an order for the last Japanese domestic model on Amazon, should come to the house on Friday 😅
Amazing - let us know how it works out! :)
I'm glad that they finally incorporated a metal keeper on their watchbands. I've owned a ton of G Shocks throughout my lifetime and the first thing to break is that resin keeper that used to come on the original G Shock watchbands.
Yeah I get what you mean!! The entry level models, and even mid level, still use the resin keepers though...
They've gone back to resin keepers lol.
Just ordered mine today.
Very nice :)
Really good stills. That "water" shot is nice.
FYI
IMO
✌️
Thanks for that - I don’t even remember doing a water shot for this one! :)
Hey man,thanks for the video.
Got the same watch but my light is white and not blue like yours.. is it normal?
I think the blue look it's just the effect of lighting and white balance on the camera... it's actually a white LED light.
Great review, is the size are different? Thank you.
No the size is the same :)
there is portable signal amplifiers for those atomic clock signals......
least seiko has one... don't know if it's enough for Australia
.. but something to look up ,and which could be solution here...
Thanks for that John, helpful to know! Although being a mechanical watch user in large part all my Quartz pieces are more than sufficiently accurate as is... if there was a version without the time sync function and was cheaper, I would've gone for that. I did so with my Frogman just bought :)
Yesterday i received my g shock rangeman gw-9400 and it is showing CHG blinking on screen apart from this, nothing is showing in it and the light button rotates clockwise and anti clockwise if we rotate. Is this normal ????
Isn’t that asking you to charge it?
Read manual for tips perhaps!
No regrets on my side! I love wearing...
It’s awesome!
Best watch I've ever owned..
Thanks for that - I'm sure many others love it as much, it's an awesome watch! :)
Really nice video and watch
Thank you for the positive feedback! :)
Nice watch and all and I realized my el cheapo Walmart $11.48 watch is a knock-off of this watch with the light button in the same place and the same design and layout of the face.
Yeah I can guarantee you that it's not the only KO of this watch... SKMEI and SMAEL are two other brands well known for doing Casio KO.
Figuring out if I wanted this watch or not in comparison to the others in the line. You sold me.
Cool! Which others were you comparing to?
The battery life is that between solar charges ? I have a original mudman with no solar and have just changed the battery after ten years of use regards mike
Battery life is quoted as basic use following full charge, or as total standby time in darkness. 10 years is a good long time for the Mudman.
The case is enamelled stainless steel, not resin (at least in 2019) but some coloured models are resin. Great watch. Great review - subbed. :-)
Thanks for that. Well this GW-9400 model is *definitely* a resin case cover... perhaps you are referring to the new GPR-B1000 model, but even so the official site states resin & steel for the case, with no mention of enamel. I am curious where you found the mention of enamelled steel?
@@PerthWAtch Sorry, my mistake. You are correct.
I like that I can start the stop watch directly from time screen by pressing the lower right button
Agreed
My every day watch, 37 years with Gshocks and its my favorite, however i am looking forward for the upcoming GW9500 Mudman.
Interesting - what kind of work do you do?
@@PerthWAtch Many years in the transport industry.
How did you start the alarm sound because it looked liked you did it without an alarm on
A standard part of many Casio models is that you can preview the alarm sound by holding down the scroll button.
Thank god this is an actual review
As opposed to??
@@PerthWAtch normally it’s just more of an advertising video with bad music blaring and photos/videos of the watch. Your video however was amazing and very in depth.
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it :)
Between this model and Mudmaster GWG-1000, which one do you recommend? I would appreciate your answer, I understand that this model does not have mud resistance, and the mud master yes, why is that? do you have any special filter?
Actually water resistance pretty much equates to mud resistance in most people’s view. The GWG-1000 gives a tough solar movement with analog display, and vibration resist along with sapphire. But of course costs much more... if you want value, go with the GW9400, but if you like the extra specs and can stretch it, the Mudmaster gives that extra “cred” :)
I own the GW 9400-3 but I would also like to own this positive display watch!
Yeah when using day to day you start to appreciate the better legibility of positive LCD displays I think
Just bought a preowned Rangeman from a guy who found it inside a car he bought a year ago lol lucky guy
Haha that's a good one, first I heard of a story like that! :)
Hi there! I just purchased this watch five days ago and as you've said it is a great looking watch, but ive noticed something in the display that made me watch this video of yours three times in a row. The digits of the watch that I bought fades when viewed in some angles even looking at it directly in front makes it slightly fade. Is this normal? Does your rangeman do this too? Because after watching your video as I've said three times in a row I did not see it fade. Is it maybe because of the lighting?? Do I have to bring it to casio service center because I dont want to return it coz its the last piece they have of this model and its very hard to find this model nowadays. Can you or anyone here please tell me if they have this same issue and what you or they did to resolve it.Thank you very much in advance and by the way ,great video !
Thank you very much for the comment. Mine does not have a noticeable problem, it fades on side viewing say around more than 30 degree angle from direct but that's quite normal I think. As far as I can tell based on what others have commented here it may be a batch issue, as in certain production runs may suffer the problem, so if yours is like that it's kinda bad luck. One solution may be to hang on to it and try to source one from a local dealer (so you can check in person), then return the defective one. All the best! Ivan.
Perth Watch Thank you very much for your reply, what a very bad luck for me ,anyway Ill try to bring it to the Casio service center here in my area and see what they can do for the watch. Once again thanks for your reply and cheers to you! Your awesome!
Thanks - very kind of you to say so! :)
thank you for your good review
i have 2 questions ..
1- i live in Iraq so the watch will not synchronizes with one of the six atomic clock transmitters because im far from any of them ..is that correct ?
2- when you turned the watch at 13:58 i read " Made in Thailand " .... i thought it made in Japan ..
so the components from Japan and they assemble it in Thailand or its totally made in Thailand ?
Thanks:
1. As far as I know it should still sync with the antenna in Europe.
2. Japan owned company, this watch made in Thailand. Not sure how much parts are from Japan. Quality is good.
Perth WAtch
Thank you
I have a question I just bought this watch and the charge still in the medium level., how long do I need to wait in order to this watch reach full charge ?
Probably try a full day or two in bright light on a windowsill (avoid direct sunlight)
does the rangeman 9400 have a stn display or the old one?
No, this doesn’t have STN display
Hello.what do you think of this watch on are 8 inch wrist? is this watch suitable?
It will be awesome!
I wish the circle on the face of this watch was like the Riseman (with the barometer reading ). It's just eye candy in regular time ( showing the indicators for the seconds ) , it's only good in the Compass mode , even though it's small. The Altimeter and Barometer mode it is hard to see the individual indicators. It would of been better if the circle could of shown the Barometer reading and the Compass reading. Now if you want to see the the Barometer reading in the timekeeping mode , you then don't see the day of the week. Casio for years has loved to show the seconds or minutes in either circular or boxed segments in there watches as well as of course the numeral seconds. It's still a nice watch , I have this one you are showing , the olive green negative display one , the sunrise purple and the Burton white one. Had the red one but sold it on ebay.
Yeah I have read about that, many fans seem to wish that the circle was more like the Riseman. Nice range of models you have - the red one you had, was it the *Men in Rescue Red* or the *Kobe City Fire Bureau* version? The latter one I think looks awesome but is rare and has become crazy expensive! Short of that I might consider grabbing a yellow one which I fancy as an out-there color to put on the wrist :)
I didn't know it by any name other then a Red Rangeman. It was red with white lettering. I had the Red Mudman as well but sold that one too. It definitely wasn't the Kobe City Fire Bureau , that watch is to pricey for me. I have one yellow G-Shock , the GWN1000-9A Gulfmaster
Ok yeah, that'll be the *GW-9400RD* "Men in rescue red" one. Wish I could've caught the fire red one when it first came out, would probably have been reasonable price for a watch that appreciates in value! Cheers, Ivan.
Sirrrr some cities of world time is showing 1 hour delay what should i hv to do
Sounds like daylight savings time is on... try turning it off :)
5:23 may I ask what's the actual color of led? From the video I saw it's blue but mine in personal is kind of white. Is mine legit? Or some rangeman has different led hue? Tyi
Good question. The LED officially is specified as *white* ... I think in the video mine looks like there is a blue hue because of the white balance setting in my camera.
Perth WAtch thank you
I'm planning to buy this watch gw-9400-1.
Go for it! :)
Why my Rangeman lights in white colour LED, not EL blue like this?
Based on official links the LED is white - it may look a bit different in video because of white balance issues. Just to note also that t's definitely not an EL light.
perfect review🙏
Thank you - too kind!
torn between this one or the pro trek negative screen, but for ease of readibility and the frequency I like to fish and such, I think I would mainly want to go for this watch. it also reminds me a lot of a watch my mom got me when I was in high school which is no longer working, I had it in 2012, and was some random off-brand name watch. the plastic band broke and battery died in 2019, I hope that this one will last much much longer than that old thing!
Thanks for sharing your experiences there. How about a positive display Pro Trek as another option?
@@PerthWAtch the positive screened ones are resin cased, and around a hundo bucks more (300!). The rangeman took over as it was steel cased, resin coated, and it does all the pro trek does... and more! It is more resistant to dirt and mud as well (casio took the mud resistence down for marketing for mudmaster lineup) and it is just overall tougher imho. In a way, you are paying 230 for the rangeman but also, it has replaceable parts. The protrek doesnt have an easier replacement parts lineup. Ive definitely decided this is going to be my main go to watch. Now i just wanna try to get a bullbar and a NATO strap fitted for the 9400.
Thanks amigo!
No problemo ;)
Guys can u do a video on the affordable casio protrek? I am really confused in selecting one for hardcore hiking and outdoor purpose.
Hi Joel - thanks for your question. Just to clarify, the Pro Trek range has *many models* with watches from below $200 to around the $1500 range, although by and large they have many common features throughout. I would say that what you choose depends a lot on how much beating the watch will take (the Rangeman is tougher than any Pro Trek) and how easily you need to able to read/access the functions (Pro Trek generally better, *especially* comparing the compass on the Rangeman) among other issues. I have done a few Pro Trek reviews:
- PRG-40 (no longer produced): czcams.com/video/FM18GfD-ZmE/video.html
- PRG-270: czcams.com/video/0BBmfg_rsYo/video.html
- PRW-6100: czcams.com/video/-bhxgLaIVpw/video.html
Perth WAtch Thanks mate I already have a rangeman negative display in military green. Kindly suggest me a protrek under $200 for hard beating trekking purpose. Or is it ok to stick with the rangeman series?
No harm just seeing how you go with the Rangeman I reckon. Pro Trek models at that budget include PAG240, PRG270, and maybe even PRW3100 ranges... Take a look a choose a colour :)
Anyone know if these watches can be tracked by government through any of the technology that these watches use?? Thanks
Nope
How big is the multifunction eye? Is it useable as a compass indicator? Or it's more of a gimmick. I found most gshock's multifunction eyes too small to be useful
Good questions - find out the answers to these and more in the video! ;)
That LED light is amazing!
Is it??

I’ve had three Rangeman GW 9400 first one to have this clicking noise. Just gets annoying lol
Man I’m having a hard time deciding between the rangeman and mudmaster I’m kinda leaning towards the rangeman as I kinda want the classic G-Shock digital display plus it has the same features it’s cheaper but the face on the mudmaster is wooing me lol
Haha yeah, they're similar but different! Well, as many a wise man here would say... no need to choose, just get both! :D
Perth WAtch hey great idea! Now to convince the wife lol ...... update: wife cares not if I buy both just not at the same time so I’m gonna start with the rangeman first then save for the top of the line mudmaster!!
@@brianbuchert6382 bro I just order the rageman i return the mudmaster for 20 dollars more why not the rageman lol
Jorge Perez well I had the mudmaster on layaway and was going to cancel it but I got a call from the jeweler saying they were going out of business and made me a great deal they said about $170.. out the door if I pick it up the next day so I got it for that price! Trust me the rangeman is still on my list lol
@@brianbuchert6382 nice
G'day, what would you pick between GW-9400-1 and PRG-270-2? It would nice to know the reasoning if possible. :) TIA
GW-9400 Rangeman no question... it's a G-Shock and it's got the AT-sync where the Pro-Trek does not. Also has steel buttons and the one-touch start button for stopwatch which is unique.
However in comparison with the Pro-Trek the compass function is harder to use. The Pro-Trek is also less than half the price, is smaller/thinner, and has a larger time display for easier read. If purely for trekking then the Pro-Trek is better.
@@PerthWAtch Thanks! This is for purely trekking. I think I'm better off with the PRG-270-2.
Hello big brother I have a question about the watch . Can you tell me what the difference between GW-9400j and GW-9400 what the difference point about these two thing ?
Nothing much except perhaps some materials - J model has CF strap I believe? Otherwise function all the same - J model just means it's for JDM, other models for international markets.
Thank brother I think this watch is have a lot of functions and it very hard to understand about those functions
Yep, can be difficult to get to grips with all of it... but you should be able to rest assured that "J" or not the functions are the same.
Guys please respond
Does the barometer really alarm go off b4 a storm comes in ? If so how much advance warning ?
I ask cause I see no videos answering this question
Hi there, yes the barometer does have a function where it will beep to indicate a significant change in pressure detected. I do not have much knowledge of meteorology hence cannot say how much advance warning of a storm this may provide. For specific info on the watch function see manual page 65 here: support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/009/qw3410.pdf
For more useful help and feedback, I would recommend enrolling in a good forum (e.g. WatchUSeek) and posting your question there. Cheers, Ivan.
It lets you know when there’s a significant drop or climb in pressure associated with impending frontal passage. While not 100%, I would definitely rely on it when I’m in the sticks with no other weather resources.
I looked at both the Rangeman and the Mud Master but the Rangeman offered 2 features that the Mud Master did not, Solar charging and Atomic time keeping. While the Mud Master does have the "LOOKS COOL" factor, the Rangeman really is the better overall value. Picked mine up from Amazon last night for less than $200 with free 2-day delivery. I already own two G-shocks and one Pro Trek. I can't see buying anything other than Casio.
If comparing with the GG-1000 Mudmaster, yes those are some of the differences. The watch I compared with here is the GWG-1000 model which does have atomic timekeeping and tough solar - it is however considerably more expensive.
@@PerthWAtch Oops my bad, I forgot that there are 2 versions of the Mud Master, one being much cheaper that doesn't offer the tough solar and Atomic time keeping features. Great review of the Rangeman by the way.
Hey, that was a great video. I was looking for a new G-shock, interested in the 9400 and came across you video. I'm from Perth as well that's was I got attracted to you channel :p
I do have a question about the atomic receiver tho, do you know if there's a way to disable the auto update?
I'm planning to go to Japan later this year, since we don't get the atomic update in Oz, I'd rather to change time zone manually so it doesn't mess up with my home time. I don't want my watch to update its home time automatically then when i get back to Perth I'll have to reset the time again.
There might be an easy fix but I never had one with atomic receiver before :p Thanks!!
Thanks for that Wilson - always great to hear from a local! :)
Yes you can actually turn off the auto-receive for the time signal... however, I would add that you don't have to worry about the auto-receive messing with your home time. You select the time zone when you setup the watch, and it will keep showing that time zone until you change it. Auto-receive will simply correct the time to precise atomic timing. Hope that help!
Cheers, Ivan.
Perth WAtch cool! Thanks for the quick reply. That clear things up 😁😁😉
Most welcome bro :)
I Is it ok to replace the bezel screen at a jeweler
Hmm not sure man... since this isn’t considered jewellery :)
It's my first G-Shock, I think it looks way better than any other G-Shock, and that's the reason why I buy it.
Thanks for sharing your view of this awesome G-shock :)

I just bought mine and I noticed the digits are very dim and "ghost" at just about every viewing angle. Does anyone else have this problem or is this a normal characteristic of the watch? I have a g9300 and the digits are very dark and are viewable just about from any angle.
Hi there, I heard there may have been issues with some batches of the Rangeman. May be a good idea to find a local retailer where you can compare side by side... if indeed a problem hopefully you can get a refund.
Smvk3 I have the same problem with the same watch I bought 5 days ago. If you happened to resolve the issue/problem, May I ask what you did? Please be kind enough to reply to fellow frustrated GShock lover Thank you in advance
Smvk3 Please share what happened to your rangeman! Did you resolve the dimming display issue?? Did you bring it to Casio service center??? Please tell me what you did to solve the issue so I could do the same. I love this watch but It bothers me when I look at it and see that the digits are dim. Please share, It would help me a lot and will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Negative displays are more easy to read with lighting in dark imho, but that is not how I usually use my watch.
Thanks for that... you may have a point there, but yeah similarly not how I usually use my watch.
reliable watch with infinite battery. for me it was must have
Definitely one of the most popular G-shocks of all, for good reason!
I have the Desert Camo version of the Rangeman. Best G-Shock ever!!
That’s a nice version!
@@PerthWAtch Thanks, I love it!
Love my Rangeman. I own 16 G-Shocks right now and this is one of my favorites. The $600+ Mudmaster is cool but over priced in my opinion.
Thanks for the thought man - it’s an awesome watch!
err i dont think it is way overpriced because the construction is just stellar (in & out). I own one GWG-2000 so i know all the money goes into the technology of its making & features. Rangeman is a beast tho. Might get it someday for light activities.
GWG-1000 is not overpriced.
It's got far better build quality than the Rangeman, and will not have those stupid lugs breaking off issues.
You can easily get a good deal for it if you have the patience.
