dont know Dany isnt a fighter....a dragonrider but not a fighter like Visenya also by the books I wouldnt even say that she is that ruthless( remember season 7-8 didnt happen in my mind) I would say that Dany is more like Rhaenys

I always prefer Queen Visenya. She only married Aegon for duty but she was everything a queen should be. It was she not Rhaenys who solidified Aegon reign. She loved her family and became one of the main reasons why westeros was conquered. Personally, I think she could’ve been queen in her own right.
Technically she was, Aegon's Queens alone among the Queens were considered equal to Aegon by Aegon himself. Something that was brought up later when comparing Alysanne to them.
@@revanius2213 Exactly she was basically ruling Westeros, Aegon had the right temperament of a King and figure head. But Visenya was the brains behind the operation, it wouldn't surprise me if it was her and Aegon that came up with taking over Westeros. Whats interesting about them, is that they Never really took over because they wanted glory, well some of it was for glory, but it wouldn't surprise me that people who were considered lesser than them, would not have gotten the story right when it came to Aegon. When you look at the chaos that was going on in Westeros and the tremendous amount of brutality that was going on, the realm really did need some sort of order to keep the realm in check. And I think along the way may of the Targaryens down the lineage forgot that, and thats what led to their downfall.

Yeah, and she almost ruined her house by usurping the throne from Aegon the uncrowned, visenya wasn't a good queen neither a good person, she was a murderer that almost ended house Targaryen because she wanted her psychotic son maegor to be king.

Jahearys Inherited the kingdom when fear was solidified, and people no longer wanted to go against them, because Maegor was so brutal, after that period an era of peace.

@@starlight0313 Daemon Targaryen wasn’t named after Daemon Blackfyre. If you meant Daemon Blackfyre was named after Daemon Targaryen, you are kinda right but not 100%. Blackfyre wasn’t named Daemon for the solo reason of being named after Daemon Targaryen.
Visenya is a terrifying lady and a very effective decision maker. She would have been a true leader and a ruthless one more akin to a Tywin.

I would put Jaehaerys up there. Not only the best king in the history of the kingdom, but probably the most powerful one as well. He trained himself in combat until he was a match for anyone in the kingdom, and his kingsguard was said to be the greatest of all time. Pretty much the only king there ever was to actually live a long life and die of old age. He was pretty much the only ruler with no apparent weakness. Perfect in combat, perfect guards, excellent dragon+dragon riding skills, perfect relationship, admired and beloved by the kingdom (except for the north maybe) and overall a smart,independent thinker that took advice well but still adjusted his final decisions when he felt strongly about them.
Best Targaryen. Not most powerfull Targaryen.
@@minnumseerrund Who's more powerful? He was a better fighter than just about every Targaryen with one or two exceptions. He had the best kings guard bar none. He had more dragons at his disposal than Aegon and his sister, as well as just about every other king. And his people were not torn like with most other rulers. Bloodraven is the only one I can see above him, or Deanaerys end of series of course.
Nop. Jaehaerys wasnt amongst one of the best warriors in House Targaryen. His son Baelon, his grandson Daemon, Aemon the Dragonknight, Daeron the Young Dragon, Baelor Breakspear, Daemon Blackfyre and Daeron (son of Egg) were better.
Also Jaehaerys' kingsguard prob had only Ryam Redwyne as a legendary Kingsguard, Aerys II was the one to have the greatest kingsguard.
Plus Jaehaerys wasnt really perfect, he was an awfull father to his children besides Prince Aemon and Prince Baelon
And it was in Jaehaerys' reign that the seeds to Dance of Dragons began...

The Dance of the Dragon was not Jeharrys fault, it was his sons. If he had not went against the decisions of the council there would never have been a dance, not at that time at least.
Jaehaerys kingsgaurd is specifically mentioned as the greatest kings guard there ever was. Maybe that was before Aerys i'm not sure when Fire and Blood is meant to be written exactly. Either way that would make his at least the second greatest kingsguard.
Arthur Dayne, Geralt Hightower and another kinght got defeated alongside one more kingsguardsmen against Ned stark hand his compenions, or at least we can suppose they did. And they were 5, 7? Meanwhile Jaehaery's kingsguard could scare of 51 people just the 7 of them. Those are way worse odds than 3 on 7.
And the ones he was training with were also his kingsguard (I think), he was said to be an equal to them in combat, which combared to how skilled they makes them one of the greatest knights in the kingdom.
@@g-5615I meant personal power/strength. Obviously, Bloodraven being a greenseer-mastermind and Daenerys having prophetic powers and 3 goddamn dragons would make them stronger than Jaeherys in a 1v1 scenario, but I suppose there's an argument for him being the most powerfull ruler

Women could and did rule in Westerosi culture, if they did not have any brothers. Jeyne Arryn and Rhea Royce were heirs who ruled in their own right. There are also many cases of widows being regents for their young sons.

Jaehaerys the first needs to be in this list tbh. He saved the Targaryen dynasty from certain ruin after Aenys and Maegor and really brought the roam together by establishing a official law, won every war he fought (even won the 4th dornish war without losing a single man, something even Aegon the conquerer couldn’t do) and rode Vermithor, the third biggest dragon after Balerion and Vhagar. He also ruled the longest out of all the Targaryen Kings. So in my opinion he definitely earns to be on this list.
Also Aegon I could be considered over Visenya in my opinion. Still a interesting video tho!

YESSSS. It sucks they just glossed over his entire reign because it probably would've been too boring for tv. He was that good. Him and Alyssane changed westeros.
Plus it is said this his first 7 kings guard knights were the best kings guard knights that ever served any king and he was trained by them on dragon stone. He was claimed to be an even better swordsman than Maegor.

I disagree. Daenerys has a lot of skills but there is no indication that she has any inclination towards physical fighting and she still is a young girl in the books

So not sure how you read it. Danny strongest of all time. If she didn’t have John snow the oath breaker near her then she would have been a long ruler. Also Danny is in the books. I mean idk I’m kinda confused what books you are specifically talking about. Danny would probably loose if she versed aegon but only cause of her dragons still being infants. My main point is she has 3 babies that are growing fast. She just needed time. Her situation against the white walkers ruined things. If not for that she would make everyone bend the knee. She started with nothing and look at what she accomplished all alone. Everyone before her got help. Just saying 🤷🏻♂️

As the top 3 in my book I would put Daemon the Rogue prince simply because he carved out his own kingdom, was above the laws of everyone even he’s brother for the most part, and was the wonder and terror of his age, also he had the most war experience dragon at the time besides Vhagar but unlike Vhagar Aemond one eye was not experienced in war and relied on the size of his dragon alone, which is why he ultimately lost his army to the black as well as kings landing, my other 2 would be Jaeherys the first simply because of what he achieved and for how long he held power with virtually no rebellions from his lords, there was Borris baratheon but he didn’t exactly rise against him, he joined a dornish outlaw so technically he took part in an invasion as a traitor, but the rest of his reign was great and he did ride a formidable dragon who could only be rivalled by Dream fyre at the time, since all the other dragons except silverwing had no riders, and Allysane would never fight him, so he was the absolute power of his day, and my other one would be Aegon the conqueror and the only reason I put him over Visenya, is that to literally everyone else it didn’t matter that Visenya was still around, as soon as aegon died everyone basically revolted, and they were gunning for Aegons sons, even when Maegor, a much crueler version of his father mounted Balerion to stop the rebellions they persisted to the very end when they backed Jaeherys, they would never have done that with Aegon around.

The blacks wasted the most dragons though. Greens were far more efficient.
@@Tonius126 not really the greens basically had 3 dragons fit for fighting especially after Helaena’s went nuts and sunfyre literally almost died in a 1v2 battle and as a bonus Vhagar (the largest living dragon) was on sunfyres side, so that especially wasn’t really efficient, Daeron who rode Tessarion basically met no dragon opposition until addam Velaryon (or waters) fought him and Daeron died before ever getting to his dragon and his dragon died in that same battle, the only dragon that really lasted on the greens side was Vhagar and that was because of her size, Vermithor and silverwing were originally on the blacks but switched sides of course and silverwing was smart and lucky enough to get out of it unscathed, but Vermithor of course died because he was riderless and attacked all dragons around him, ultimately winning the fight even without a rider but he died of his wounds. The blacks lost 2 dragons to a fair fight those being Maelys and Caraxes, Vermax was hooked and cut open on a sea battle and Lucerys’s dragon was of course cut in half by Vhagar, sea smoke went out fight a 1v3 battle and did very well honestly even if he died, and syrax basically died fighting the mobs of kingslanding,, and so did dreamfyre, honestly the side that wasted the most were the greens because not only did they target smaller dragons from the beginning but also wild ones towards the end like grey ghost and possibly the cannibal but no one really knows about that one

Awesome video! Your defense of each choice is very rational. I think Princess Rhaenyra also deserves honorable mention for the huge increase in dragons during her life that can't be a coincidence.

About the fireproof thing. GRR Martin seems to have made it part of the Valerian package. In recent interviews for house of the dragon (about 2/3 weeks from the moment I make this comment) he said that certain houses in Valyria with blood magic intertwined their DNA with those of dragons to make their taming easier and could be the cause of some rare ones displaying the ability to resist high temperatures.
Bloodraven and visenya definitely has a spot but daenerys definitely not

In my vision of honorable mentions, there should be Jaehaerys the Old King. To be fair his rule took place during no real conflicts, however, if some conflict appeared, he immediately took care of it.
Edit: It depends on what you consider as power. To me, it is sort of a combination of wisdom, discipline, experience, and capability, all of which Jaehaerys had.
Definitely. In fact, I would argue Jaehaerys I deserves a spot in the top 3 far more than Daenerys.
Jaehaerys I was an excellent warrior (said to have probably been able to defeat Maegor - arguably the greatest warrior of his time, and certainly one of the best - in combat), a gifted dragon rider with a very powerful mount, a shrewd and exceptional ruler, and a skilled negotiator, with (as you say) great wisdom (even in his early teens), experience, discipline, capability, and charisma.

i don't know about a great fighter considering he got literally flatted by bobby B. honestly everything surrounding Rhaegar just sounds like either over blown rumors or complete lies. everyone of Rhaegar's actions completely contradict everything every targ supporter says of him.

Every great character ever died one way or another, as far as I’m concerned the ones that died in battle with a sword in their hand are the hardest and strongest of them all.
If Rhaegar had a Dragon, he would’ve probably been the most well rounded and most dangerous of the lot. He easily had the best Kingsguard ever - Ser Arthur Dayne, Prince Lewyn Martell, Ser Jonothor Darry, Ser Gerold Hightower, Ser Oswell Whent, Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jaime Lannister…he was also himself a great warrior and swordsman, he was kind and well liked among all. Now, if you add a large Dragon onto all that he basically tops all the previous Targaryen’s.

Visenya had Dark Sister, but I loved the idea of Rhaenys. In our D&D campaign my elven ranger has a Cooshee dog and I named her Visenya!

I think you nailed it perfectly @whycreate . Especially, Visenya. Sure she wasn't as 'strong ' as Aegon but she was a versatile and terrifying ruler. A true queen on the chess board who could do almost anything she wanted

Agree Dany with all three of her dragons against Aegon with his one massive black dragon would lose. Aegon with his Black dragon was just too powerful.

I never have been 100% about this but the way I read it, Rhaenys didn't die, she was captured. That's why Dorne managed to maintain their independence - Having her as a hostage
You think they would have let her stay hostage ? I think they would have demolished Dorne . But , everyone saw her fall off the dragon and die . Don’t you love that as much as we read , watch lore videos. And throw ideas together that the world is so great that we can’t know for sure on some things.
i think Dorne maintained their independence because they have a strong homogenous culture and they were unyielding. Aegon was mourning and tired of fighting

I named my dog "Visenya" because of her....she was such an amazing Targaryen...hopefully "House of the Dragon" will give her more interest and exposure!
HoD takes place 100 years after the conquest, so she might be mentioned due to her being a strong female figure, but I doubt she’ll get much exposure. Great character though, literally created the idea behind the White Cloaks.

Visenya is said to almost be on par with with Aegon as a warrior, but even then I would still give Aegon the advantage with strength and having more experience in fights.(we don't see lots of times where visenya is fighting without here dragon besides the dorne assassin event) I would agree that she is defiantly more martial and decisive than Aegon but not really as a warrior as fair as we know.
Visenya is the Athena of the Targaryens and The Game of Thrones. She gets the job done and doesn't care about anything else but her family and the war. That is also why she lived for a while. I can't believe that all these characters was born from George R.R. Martin's mind. Amazing.
Meraxes was larger than Vhagar when they were contemporaries. Vhagar at death had grown larger than Meraxes was & nearly was as large as The Black Dread

I know the lord commander of the kingsguard is rather important during the Dance of the Dragons. I wouldn’t mind seeing what you think are the most influential and/or noteworthy lord commanders.

1. aemon the dragonknight, possibly the best ever with a sword. 2. Maegor the cruel, the only survivor of the craziest 7v7 trial by combat ever....and had balerion. 3.Bloodraven, who might move up as we learn more about his powers, in both the main series and the dunk and egg series. Tough to rank, you could argue that anyone who didn't ride a dragon shouldn't be considered.
I think maegor may have been brought back by some kind of black magic. he was down for like 7 day afterwards.

@@randy42000 Actually, it's explicitly stated that the reason was cause one of his many wives kept poisoning the others, and this was proven by them saying "I already poisoned the one that is currently pregnant, so they're also gonna have a short lived abomination for a kid" and that was exactly what happened, so that's the more likely explanation, however, explanations for why he couldn't have kids aside (It does seem like being resurrected affects you more mentally than physically most of the time tbh), this might up Visenyas's placement given that it's theorized that she herself was the one who brought him back to like, combine that with the fact that she spent a lot of time alone doing whatever, that many people that she wanted dead died under mysterious circumstances even if she couldn't directly get her hands on them, and that she somehow outlived all her siblings despite being the oldest one (I mean, Rhaenys is whatever, but outliving Aegon for almost a decade is seen as suspicious within lore, however I guess you can explain this away with her being healthier and having more will power?), and I think that the rumors of dark magic weren't just rumors, which does beg the question, how powerful was it?

Maegor might have saved the Targaryen dynasty. They were on the ropes there for a bit with the Faith, until Meager brought it to them and changed the Faith's stance on Targ marriages.
But I like your list. I like that you included the more powerful Targaryens. Some people tend to overlook the women. And honestly you could have had an all female most powerful and most people would agree with your list.
Agreed, Maegor's ruthlessness combined with Balerion's firepower alone should earn him 1st spot. Maegor is basically the male equivalent of Cersei but with dragons, dude was insanely OP.
Ehhh no he didn't, he almost ended Targaryen rule, his nephew aegon would have been a much better ruler than him, he was a good warrior and wasn't a maniac, Aegon was definitely not weak like his father aenys and wouldn't bow down to the faith, maegor is an usurper and a kinslayer who proved that being a strong ruler, being a good warrior and having a massive dragon doesn't matter when everyone around you hates youd.

When a king's lords and clergy are rebelling he has to make an example of someone to get them back in line. Aegon was being disrespected my his minor lords even and did nothing about it.
Maegor got rid of the most extreme element of the Faith and pacified the realm.

You know what I don't quite understand, why everybody loves what Aegon did, conquerer 7th kingdoms by fire and blood, and condemn "Daenarys' madness", are the same thing though , both are conquerors not rulers.
Rulers were his sisters, Daenarys needs faithful parteners.
Visenya bloodraven and maegor are the srongest all three were great warriors, commanders and had connections to magic

Again, It shouldn't have been questioned, as I stated in my original comment. She would definitely be missed in the story if she was never a part of the conquest. And Maegor would even exist lol.

Vhagar was actually the 3rd biggest Dragon, Balerion & Maraxes were the bigger two with Vhagar being the smallest of the three.

@@JeremyIceAndFire33 yes true BUT it’s likely if all dragons lived as long as Balerion and Vhagar then they’d grow to their sizes, measuring there sizes is mostly taken at the biggest they grew hence why Balerion and Vhagar are the biggest/grew to be the largest. Meraxes would’ve definitely grew to Balerions and Vhagars size but seeing as Meraxes died we can only measure her size based on how big she grew to in comparison to Vhagar who grew to bigger as she lived longer

Daenerys can resist fire, is one of her abilities and she did it twice in the show, is well know that she is a very magical character.
Only in the show. In the books Dany was never fire proof it only occurred once. During Drogo's funeral pyre in which blood magic was involved because she burned the witch together with Drogo and the magic that the dragon eggs contributed.
Not in the books, in the books was one time thing at the pyre due to blood magic, but she still can burn

lord bloodraven needs a series of his own. he is the only Targaryen to have the northmen blood and thus have greenseer abilities. only jonsnow could be more cooler if he gets to ride a dragon along with having green sight
