Everyone always wants to talk about and compare Daenerys to her father (and after season 8, it's inevitable now), but I always wanted to compare Dany and Rhaella. What happened to Rhaella wasn't fair. She did her duty like she was supposed to, but I don't think she was ever happy in her life.

@@Caraxes_RoguePrince not all Targaryens go mad. But madness and greatness are 2 sides of a coin. Like King Baelor was overly religious and pious, and in my opinion that's a form of madness. Speaking of Jon, he is Targaryen, and madness runs in the blood and being the Mad King's grandson, he runs an even greater risk. He could easily succumb to it if something pushed him to the edge. Imo, show wise, being isolated in the far north, does not sound good for Jon's mental health.

And just because Jon also has Stark blood doesn't mean he can't go mad. Aegon V, Maester Aemon, and their brother, Aerion, all had a Dayne mother, and Aerion tormented little Aegon, and drank wildfire and died because he thought it would turn him into a dragon. So yeah my point is, Jon could also go mad too.

Rhaella had a very tragic life… she saw so many of her children die, and Aerys blamed her for that. She had to live in fear and abusement … She gave life to a gentle prince, a monster and a dragon. The prince died in the battle for his love, the moster was slain by the dragons wrath. The dragon was once hope for Westeros, but that hope became fear. While the dragon whispered her name in the East, the lion fought the wolf, and in doing so, the wheel spinned and crushed those on the ground. The dragon heard their voices and flew to the West, hoping she would claim what once was her mother's prison. Once a gentle heart turned into fire, and so the dragon was awakened… She burnt the lion's cage, and love she once wanted to share became hate. Their hope became fear. But the dragon had a weakness in her armor… love. Love for a gentle dragon raised by the wolves. And so the last of Rhaella's children died… If only she had a chance to meet her daughter and raise her with love...

And yes, all the members of a species are somewhat related one to another, if it wasn´t they would be different species and does cannot breed together. Is more a degree thing than anything. You might fall in love with someone that haves the same great great grandmother as you but since there are so many generations apart it doesn´t count as such, specially if said cousin´s ancestors have being having kids with non related people.
Meanwhile the Targaryens had a long history of contast endogamy to the point they developed genetic deformities and a high rate of miscarriage and stillborns. As for the deformities that the Targaryens develop the only deformities I remember them having is the Dragonic features that some of her stillbirth children were born with coincidentally the same draconic features that some of Maegor the cruels children were born with and it was found out that his first wife was poisoning all his other wives.
Daenerys first child was also born with these Dragon deformities and that's because of What Mirri did. Never mind the fact that we don't really know how the rules of genetics would even applied to Valerian dragonlords such as the targaryens because they're not entirely human it seems that when they say they have the blood of the Dragon they mean it quite literally. And who knows how quickly random mutations would appear in the Targaryens since they have dragon's blood flowing through their veins. And if you were referring to this regular congenital disorders there's only what about what? a 4.4% the normal probability chance of it happening with close blood relatives if I remember correctly.
As we have seen Rhaella had absolutely no problem getting pregnant her children just kept dying from either stillbirth or shortly after dying. Anyway while you do indeed make some good points. We know that the Valyrian dragonlords and other Valyrian Nobles had Mistresses and all that I mean Lys was pretty much created as a pleasure Retreat for them I'm pretty sure most of their bastards so to speak (since I doubt Valyrians adhere to the same belief of bastardry that Westeros does) they no doubt still intermarried with each other after all their dragon's blood was the key to them being able to bond with their dragons and probably cuz I'm being able to perform powerful magic there are clearly very protective of their blood so that still over five thousand years of inbreeding.
The Valyrian Dragonlords like the Targaryens are similar to an isolated species that have continued to exist through breeding amongst themselves.

I believe, if memory serves me correctly, that Mat Pat from Game Theory/Film Theory/Food Theory calculated her baseline inbreeding coefficient (a percentage of the appearance of recessive genes) to be at least 75%, which basically means that within thousands of recessive genes, she would have a 3 out of 4 chance for each. I suspect that the number is higher (more like 80% if I’m kind and 90% on the high end) because of all the noble house relationships. These people shouldn’t exist.
Yes, some are negligible like eye colour and skin tone, but far too many are dangerous like club feet and sickle cell anemia.

      @kryztyn127 Před rokem +3

I beg to differ on Catelyn Stark. On the duration that she was alive on the books, all she did was to make bad decisions.
      1. Trusted Petyr and arrested Tyrion causing the sourness between Lannister and Stark. Granted, she trusts her childhood friend and sister but is that even a good reason to kidnap Tyrion? Yes she did not know Lysa was delusional at that time. But seriously, kidnapping the son of Tywin Lannister is basically asking for your house to get exterminated.
      2. Freeing Jaime. Sure, Robb pretty much doomed his allies when he married Jeyne Westerling. But hey, let me just free the most valuable prisoner. Nothing could go wrong. Pretty sure the only reason Walter agreed to the betrayal is because they dont have a foothold anymore. This also lead to Karstark retreating. She was grief stricken with the alleged death of Bran and Rickon. But why free Jaime? They dont even know if Sansa or Arya is still alive.

As you said Rhaella was named the Queen of love and beauty by Sir Bonifer who was only a landed knight. Isn’t it possible that these two had a love affair just before Rhaella married the mad king and Bonifer is really Rhaegar’s true father! Evidence of this is 1. Rhaegar was born “soon after” they were married. 2. Mad king has difficulty having healthy children with Rhaella but Rhaegar was easy and healthy because he had a different father. 3. After the marriage Sir Bonifer became super pious, very similar to what happened with Lancel after what he did with Cersei. 4. Ironically Rhaegar names Lyanna his Queen of Love and Beauty because tragically his real father did the same thing for a love that he could never have.

Though looking at both of their lives; Daenerys *is* Rhaella. It’s almost ironic; just how closely everything aligned. Forced marriage, but Dany finds love. Viserys and Aerys... Yeah maybe different exposure and circumstances; but they were both abused by their brothers - and hello WHO IS THE WOULD BE TRADITIONAL BETROTHED TO VISERYS? D A E N E R Y S. Oh, look, piece of candy-! Like, enough of the Mad King is now Mad Queen bs. Use your brains, look at clues, read between the lines guys - actually pick up a damn book; it actually explains more and is 100 times better than the show will ever be. And yes the show was amazing. Books still make the show look like trash - from season 3 on, they did good keeping it close in 1 & 2.

Plus dany didn't go mad because her father did. It's in house Targaryen they over hype the dragon thing so there's pride, lack of restraint etc but it doesn't have to end how it did for Danny, or even her dad for that matter. Mance Rayder is Arthur Dayne and he married Rhaella hence calling himself "king beyond the wall"... marrying the Queen of Westeros, Rhaella/Dalla, makes him a King. The baby Jon Snow saves in the North is Dany's brother!!!!

@@aya-_-3045 there has to be a reason why and it's it's matter of survival. I have a triplet theory because of Val in the north and the green braided girl at White Harbor in Davos' chapter. She's called Wylla and there's a green braided tyrosh girl mentioned by Arianne Martell to her father in Dorne, she talks about a little girl with a green braid playing at the water gardens in Dorne when they were children. There is something there I can't quite place almost like there were 3 little girls with white hair.
Quaithe is most likely Rhaella watching over her. Plus she survived all those years on the run so someone's really protecting her and I think it's intertwined into Rhaella and Arthur Dayne being Mance Rayder and Dalla.

I wish they'd went into who Rhaella was in the show and books more. I feel like who she was is very important to know, as Aerys was the children's father. All of the good inside Rhaella must have been passed to her children, and I feel like the mother of those three kids would be quite strong and kind too. Viserys completely inherited Aerys madness, Rhaegar inherited none of it and must have taken after his mother, and Dany if we're going by the show has the Targ madness inside her genes but it doesn't present until she's pushed to madness, before that she must have taken very much after Rhaella. There's something magical about her births and her children, Rhaegar was born admist fire and death and became famous and beloved and Dany was born admist a great raging storm and has magic and dragons. She must have been very magical, had she not been surpressed I wonder who she was deep down to have born such powerful children.

I haven't gotten far in the books yet but it seems that the only time Targaryen women miscarry this often it is always due to poison (Aemma was poisoned by the Maesters following the order of the high septon or the Hightowers and Rhaella was poisoned by Tywin)

the insane trait thing is kind of logical. incestuous marriages make recessive traits more likely to be expressed. if a man carries a recessive trait for this tendecy to grow crazy, it might not manifest but if he has a child with a sister who also carries the same recessive trait, one of their kids will get BOTH recessive traits and eventually, do become insane.

I'm sure Aerys had schizophrenia, and his delusions about his wife's unfaithfulness is actually a telling sign.

Lol the terrible irony is that if Rhaella had cheated on her brother-husband, she probably would have had a surviving child because it wouldn’t be so inbred.

I've always wondered if bronn is a nights watch deserter saying from him in season one where he's been north of the wall and how come he is such a skilled swordsman despite being a low born and his cloak being quite similar to nights watch one

He also outright refused to wear a gold cloak because cloaks slow you down in a fight. I've never thought about it but it makes some sense
