incredible work my man, keep it up!!
Hello. I cannot buy a JMGO n1 in the UK! It is embarrassing! Is the nebula mars 3 a great buy! It is on 20% cheaper with Amazon spring deal? I really wanted a JMGO ….
Has to be the first video of this kind where the presenter has actually bought, used and tested each machine to a professional degree. Hats off to you sir.
Rob,
I hope these videos are as enjoyable for you to produce as they are for us to watch.
I'm wasn't interested in buying a projector in this category, but I might consider one after watching your video. Great job. Thanks again.👍
Wow... what a round up and test deep dive! This video has everything I wanted to know and more, and with no added video bloat! Seriously thank you for all your hard work and diligence with this, it could not have been easy and had to be very time consuming. Amazing work!
just wow.. when i searched for comparison i did not tought i find this quality of contect. THanks!
This is an excellent and in-depth review of the current portable projector offerings. Most of the other "review" channels are simply advertising with affiliate links and no critical analysis at all. Well done!
So much effort, quality, time, man you are terrific ! Thank you for your video, really appreciate it and it helped me buy my first portable projector.
Just watched your 22 comparison and glad to see a 2023 variant just being uploaded an hour ago!
An amazing review, you surprised us with your in depth review and method of rating and simplicity. I enjoyed this video so much, really appreciate your efforts. I can see clearly my best choice me for now.
I would have loved to see the new recently released Mars 3 Air in this video.
Great review man! Do you have an opinion or any advice re: the new upcoming Mars 3 Air?
I sure love watching your videos. Really time-consuming to switch cables out and run these tests over and over and over on different projectors and then move on to the next test for the sound and then the lag and then the brightness. Thanks for all you do
I think the tests would be planned ahead and done back to back in a single projector before moving to the next
Amazing review! Just enough tech info for my level of understanding. Love the side by side visual comparison too! With all the reviews I’ve done, your conclusion tracks with my research so far! Feeling confident now to put some money down! Thanks 🙏🏼 😅
Thanks for the amazing reviews. Are long throw projectors dead? Most pf your reviews are UST or portable with throws around 1:1~1.2:1, but how come no focus on units near or above 1.5:1? Thanks!
(Looking around the $1.5K range and HC1 would be great but I want to wall mount and the throw is too short)
I like your new information format during the side by side test comparisons (Price, Brightness, Contrast).
Keep it up. 😎👍
Wow love your attention to detail! What do you think of the Nebula Mars 3 Air?
I've been waiting for this video!
So good, very detailed, thoughtful methodology, and a complete look. The best comparison I've yet seen in this category.
Incredible quality video. Thank you for that level of dedication!
Your information on projectors is top notch, straight to the point and packed with answers to questions a lot of people have when entering into the market. Great job!
Amazing new comparison video
it seems that i was Glorifying the Samsung freestyle more than i should in my mind
i wonder how the jq818c would rank among these purely as an image quality comparison
Wow, amazing comparison! It feels like you are answering even those questions, we don't know yet we should ask)
samsu freestyle gen2 was in my cart already, research pays off! thank you!
This is one of the most thorough videos I've ever seen. Thank you for these amazing comparisons!!
Great video 🎉, which IS the BEST powerbank to have more autonomy that you recomend?
Thank you for the great comparison! It was a huge amount of work 💯
Amazing video, top notch review. 10/10 this is so unreal best review video I have seen. Just subscribed.
thanks for greatest test and reviews! it's priceless 🤩
The one and only channel I trust for comparisons. Thank you so much! Are you planning on a video for projectors 100-300 or 100-500 dollar?
$100-600 coming in February.
New subscriber here! Congrats on the content, it really is amazing the depth you reach with each video and the time you take to compare all the contenders, pure quality! Thanks to you I just bought a JMGO N1 to move around the house and finally get rid of my TV but I'm still wondering if the new Xming Page One might be a better purchase for the money, might be a good contender for 2024.
The Page One is an LCD projector, probably not meant to compete with tri-laser DLPs like the N1.
@@TheHookUp awesome, thanks! I was not meaning to compare them, just to know which is giving you more value for your money. I do think the Page One is a banger at that price point, specially soundwise, and could tick almost every spec for the average user.
How is this projector cause it's going for 700$ ... My concern is that it won't cut out while streaming something on a different streaming site that isn't paid for. Something like old cartoons. Nebula will turn off it if it copyrighted apparently.
THank you a lot for this video!
God bless you sir, this review is what every review should be. Good work!
was literally looking for this u clutched up so hard
I enjoy ur review every time, the hard work, the quality, the details.. easy A+++
Thanks for the video. Looking for a projector with the quietest (silent ideally) fan noise for a recording studio. Based on your video I grabbed the Mogo pro 2 which is very quiet, but seeing if I can get one even quieter. I'm assuming most of your fan noise read outs are at normal brightness, but I saw another video where you said that if you lower the lumen output that you can get these projector fans even quieter (like on the Halo +). I'm not sure if there is a way to do that on the Mogo Pro. Do you have a recommendation on which projector has the quietest fan noise at a lower brightness setting?
Really good review. Respect. Subscribed because of your hard work.
No sponsor..? instant thumbs up
Dude, i'm so thankful for your work!
Your giving so much info, putting an amazing amount of effort and time in your videos (&$ oc), just awesome!
Thank you so much!
I'd be a hella lot blinder in my search, without you!
Keep it up, your reviews are sublime 💪🏽
I also hoped, that Wemax would update their input lag, in the meantime :/
Would you ever do a review including the Xgimi Mogo 2? I am looking to buy one but haven't seen a very good review.
Great comparison video as always. Way to come through with yet another all inclusive informative video. I wanted to see the Asus Zenbeam L2 in here? It’s portable, has a battery, and a built in android tv box. Perhaps another comparison review? JMGO N1, Mars 3, Asus Zenbeam L2
Great Comparison, would it be possible to review the nebula Capsule 3 Laser?
Thanks!
YOU ARE A GEM FOR THIS, THANK YOU
The best comparison content on YT!! Thanks again. Just wondering...Has anyone had experience with the Dangbei Atom and how it compares to the Jmgo N1? Ta
Wasn't the video I was looking for but glad I came across it. Excellent video and I love your review format, subbed! Any plan to review recently released Formovie Xming Page One? Seems like a good projector (although LCD) for general use, especially with the $100 discount and free stand promo at the moment.
I'll be reviewing the Page One along with the Paris Rhone 4K LCD projector in February.
Hi @thehookup, recent subscriber here and so far loving all your automation and security camera videos. Just one question though, if I was to purchase the reolink nvr and camera package (RLK-810B4A), would those cameras still work with blue iris if I was to upgrade later. Thank you in advance for you reply!
I'm not sure. Normally you can tell because it says which cameras come with the kit, so if it said B800 then those cameras do not work without the NVR, but if it says RLC-810A those would work. However, that kit specifically says it uses RLC-810A's but then says "The cameras of the kit cannot work without the NVR. (Bundle excluded)". So I wonder if they are doing something with the firmware that prevents them from working without the NVR.
Thnx you for the detail review!
I saw your other video on 7 things to consider and you mention that you would get better quality and price on a normal projector than a portable one. Which one would you recommend someone to get if a portable projector is not a priority but would want quality like the JMGO or Nebula Mars 3?
Is there any projector that is basically like an xgimi horizon pro, but with inbuilt battery? I can't seem to find one that has ample lumens to be used during daylight, and is also portable and can be powered by an inbuilt battery. My usecase is specially in classrooms.. I need a projector that i can carry to different classroom, has enough lumens that's PDFs/video are clearly visible even in daylight, and obviously i don't have to worry about sockets. I don't mind shelling out a bit for the same.
Damn. I ordered the Mogo 2 Pro on Black Friday before there was a review from you. Other youtubers claimed the picture quality but they were all sponsored by Xgimi. Unfortunately most tech youtubers cannot be trusted anymore. You sir are a legend!
While I still like the XGIMI Mogo 2 Pro seeing it loose against older and sometimes cheaper projectors like the Wemax is a bummer. Should have gone with another projector like the Mars 3 Air or the Wemax. Too bad.
THanks again for your review
Which one would you recommend?
Because overall the mogo 2 pro still seems like a great projector...sound and image
a ton of value in this video, thanks for the review
Wow. This review is incredibly well done.
i have a small bedroom where a TV just wouldn’t be practical, might look into buying one of these!
What an amazing comparison video. Thank you.
Have just stumbled across your video’s as I’m in the market, and love the details you go into! Do you have any experience with the
- xgimi horizon/horizon pro
Vs
- xgimi halo +
These are at the top of my list but am struggling to find comparisons
Much appreciated!
I have videos with all of those on my channel. If you don't need portability the Horizon and Horizon Pro are better options than the Halo+.
Great video! I need you to review and explain me certain things of my life LOL!
Superb work, thank you so much - definite subscription
Keep going. You have huge aknowledge about projectors and technology this days.
Thanks for awesome comparison. What kind of screen would you recommend for JMGO N1?
White 1.1 gain.
Thanks for another great test!
Is there any specific reason why you do not consider the Fengmi/Formovie S5? I would really apreciate it, if you had a chance to look at that one as well!
Unofficial word is it is going to be discontinued. I tried to get one, but I could only get one through backchannels on AliExpress (it's not authorized for sale in the US).
Incredible. Thank you for your service
I'm having difficulty with getting a projector. i ended up with the nebular capsule but I want to be able to stream old cartoons from not paid for streaming sites that are free. Just old 90s stuiff. I think it shuts down if it catches copyright streaming. I also want to be able to air stream without complications from my phone. that has been the big one. I watch alot of stuff from these sites and I would like to seee it on the projector. could you recommend me a good one? This is my 3rd time ordering a projector and I don't want to return things anymore. I like how compact the nebula is. i have no complaints for the quality of the video. I think the sound is pretty good and it seems user friendly. The battery life just isn't long and I am having issues w/ trying to stream shows from other sites.
I enjoy your analysis 👍🏽
Asus ZenBeam L2 Portabel projektor have you tested this one?
Great video! Is the Jimbo N1 good enough to use in a well lit room?
No, it's under 1000 ANSI lumens, you'll need to target 2500+ for a well lit room. N1 Ultra is a decent choice.
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I love your honesty, sincerity, and thoroughness. I've been waiting for months for your video because I bought the Nebula Mars 3 and wasn't sure how I felt about it. I now know it was the best purchase and you didn't even get into how it's able to charge other devices through its USB ports. As you said, one of its only few downsides is the bulk, but for outdoors it can't be beat. I just wish there was a way to recharge it on the go... in any case, you are doing great work and I sincerely appreciate you.
hey i just got a question i would really love to buy it aswel but can't find it anywhere where did you buy this beamer?
Thanks for the very detailed comparison! Its a very useful guide. Can I check if JMGO N1 has any laser speckle issue?
Very minimal from what I saw.
So thankful for your awesome review! QQ looking for a portable projector for holidays & use in the bedroom or the occasional party at home (mostly CZcams + Netflix + Crunchyroll). Which projector would you recommend? Battery, Price, Noise, and sharpness/contrast would be the main decision factor. 🙏🏻😊 After watching your review now thinking about whether Mars 3 Air or JMGO Ultra or something else? Many thanks
If battery power is important to you the Mars 3 (not the Mars 3 air) should be your pick. If battery power is not important than the JMGO N1 is a good pick. The N1 Ultra is a much more expensive projector but is significantly brighter.
Thank you so much for your speedy reply, much appreciated. @@TheHookUp when you say brighter do you mean in a not-so-dark room during day time you will still be able to see? I assumed both Mars 3 & N1 Ultra fan noise is acceptable in the bedroom? Thank you so much 🙏🏻
@@J_MKing Yes, brighter meaning you will be able to see it better in a room with more lights on. Both the Mars 3 and N1 Ultra have nearly silent fans.
Great video, was waiting for it like a month.
Quick question - Halo+ or Mogo2pro when the battery is not the most important, as i can use powerbank when it is needed?
Does this extra brightness really make difference worth paying more?
The extra brightness is significant, yes.
I have MoGo and yes, the drop is brightness is incredibly noticeable. After 5 min of the low brightness your eyes will adjust, and you won't notice it as much, but I still recommend getting an external battery. I'd compare the experience of battery mode to traveling a few years back in time when the first portable projectors had 100ANSI or 150ANSI lumen brightness 😂.
Bro I really love the efforts u put in the video. Just wondering can u make a review of JMGO O2
It's not out yet.
Your video is awesome! Could you please add a quick review for Dangbei Atom and LG Cinebeam Q as well? Thank you
I feel like there's a really big chance the Cinebeam Q is going to be a massive waste of $1300 for me. Every review on CZcams is sponsored, not a good sign.
Another amazing video, thanks!
Very good testing video! Very good job!
I am looking for a projector to watcj in day time similar like tv any good projector
Absolutely love your review format. I wish more would adopt it. Super fun to watch. A+
Yes all info and no time wasted on fluff such as telling us what he ate for breakfast and how his pet peed on a pole while crossing the street on a random rainy Tuesday
Super comprehensive review! Just wondering about your thoughts on the JMGO N1 Pro and do you think its worth going for over the base model?
N1 Pro is significantly larger than the N1. If you are looking for portability the N1 is a much better pick. The N1 Pro does have the upgraded gimble setup of the N1 Ultra, but other than that I'm not sure it's worth $300-400 more than the N1 just for bit of extra brightness.
@@TheHookUp Ahh I see - I didn't even realise it was that much larger, thanks for this! Just really planning on using it in the bedroom to project at the wall or ceiling - I saw that there's 2K resolution and seemingly double the lumens on their website for the Pro but couldn't find a review about it. 😂
what do you think about the wimius q2?
Not really in the market for this, but I'll still give it a watch cause of the effort you put into videos. Underrated channel
No kidding. The videos are just so thorough, informative, and well put together that they're great to watch even if you're not particularly interested in the subject
I was hoping to see the JMGO N1 Pro on this list since it is on sale for $999 at the moment. Definitely one of the best deals you can find!
man it was my dream to buy it after your comment, but unfortunatelly, German banking played a bad joke with me. Now waiting till next sale. Have you some info when we can wait for it?
Great video. Nice work. Thanks.
That’s very useful video to me, Thanks for your hard work .
wow I've been waiting for this review for a long time!
As always, the most informative and objective reviews you can find on the web. Well done!
Because of your review of 2022 I ordered the WEMAX GO ADVANCED and I am super happy with it.
Including the extras (battery, TV STICK and portable speaker) it is still cheaper and more portable than the competitiors.
Just two questions If I may,
Why are there small differences between the reviews regarding the brightness (for example, the Wemax in the previous review was 607 ANSI and now 592 )?
And is there a chance that one day you will make a rating chart of projectors?
and again, thanx a lot. always a pleasure to watch your videos!
I retest and remeasure every projector for every video so they can be accurately compared. A difference of 15 lumens could be explained by something as simple as different battery level in the lux meter. In actuality a +/- 5% brightness value will be seen in all projectors, even ones with perfect quality control. So if we consider 600 to be a baseline for the Wemax Go Advanced that would mean you could end up with 570-630 lumens.
Interesting!
Thanx a lot
Awesome reviews!
How good is your wemax and it's 600ansi lumens in daylight? Is it sufficiently visible in a normally lit room on a white wall?
@@Aman9692 depends on screen size. I would say a 40-50" screen would be acceptable in a normally lit room on a white wall.
Great video as always, surprised you did not include the Formovie S5 as I think I would be in the top 3 here
I tried. It is going to be discontinued soon and not available in the US.
What about benq gv31 do you recommend it
My lovely chanel for projectors. Rob, how come you never tested XGIMI ELFIN? I have it, I payed 500€, and I am amazed by this device. I feel that is the twin brother of Halo+ except the sound and lack of battery. By the way, with this video, I just discovered that I can connect a battery using that adaptor cable.🙏 Thank you, maestro!
Great video. Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for a new video. I’ve sent 4 projectors back to Amazon and I’m still searching.
Been watching for a couple years, love your reviews, just got a 4k OLED and noticed in the shot comparisons at 16:44, only in the 4k feed, looks like you've got a couple burnt pixels in the upper right quadrant of your camera. Freaked out for a second because I thought it was the TV, but they only showed up during that shot and I can see them on my 1080p computer monitor when I turn the playback resolution up to 4k. Not being critical; love your consistent methodology, just didn't want any flawed gear muddying the overall high quality of the information you provide.
I don't see what you are seeing, can you be more specific with what you mean by "burnt pixels" and give me a better idea of where you are seeing them?
If you look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead's hair in the Vava Mini window at the timecode provided in 4k, you'll see it. A burnt pixel happens when when your camera's sensor looses the ability to capture light, dark or both, and sometimes a specific color, in a pixel. Yours looks fine with bright colors, but stays white when it should be black. It's also visible when you are messing with the image settings at 17:01, top of the menu, in Brightness mode, to the left of Normal. @@TheHookUp
Ah crap, I see it now. Thanks.
jmgo n1 or xgimi horizon FHD with a difference of 100 euros and why? Thank you very much for your videos, they are the best.
Great video review, as usual!
Bear with me, this is a long message but has what I think for some may be helpful information regarding the N1. If you wrap a thin strip of clear silicon tape about 8" long and 2-4 mm wide around the joint spaces between the gimbal arms and the projector body, it will provide plenty of friction to keep the projector from angling up, even when an HDMI cable is connected, while still allowing the projector angle to be changed and not being very noticeable. The plates that are supposed to help provide friction for the gimbal arms screw into plastic holes which are almost immediately stripped if you try to adjust any of the plate screws. So IMO don't bother trying to adjust any screws, because the fix will be both inferior and temporary compared to wedging something between the gimbal arm and projector. If someone finds a better solution than a strip of silicone tape, please do share....I was thinking maybe a silicone split washer might work, but I'm not sure what dimensions would be optimal. With the silicone tape you could probably just wrap one side to provide enough friction, though I did both for a bulletproof solution. If you're changing the angle a lot (e.g. putting it in its case regularly) it might be better to do just one side.
I have the N1 and N1 Ultra. Despite the Ultra having better specs I prefer the N1. It's smaller which I like , is plenty bright, it doesn't have a dolly for me to accidentally rotate it when plugging something in, the loose gimbal issue can be easily fixed, and the sound is still quite good despite being half the speaker wattage in a 40% smaller projector body. And the N1 is about half the price. I also like to put videos and music on a USB flash drive to watch/listen to on the projector, and if I were to get 4k movies for the Ultra my 1TB flash drive would fill up quickly.
Also, in case it helps, there are recommendations on reddit and other forums to enable developer settings to disable animations, limit number of processes, and a few other things, in order to help speed up Android 11 for the N1. I did this and also disabled just about any bells and whistles that might negatively affect performance (turned off all notifications, uninstalled and disabled any dead weight stock apps I could without using ADB). The main apps I have installed on my projector are projectivity launcher (simple user interface without all the clutter of the android tv home screen), VLC, browser (the one with the red no -ing logo), and Poweramp for Android for listening to my music collection (it's a process to install--upload your music and the Poweramp .apk to a flash drive; get a license key from the Poweramp website [not Google Play store]; enable file access legacy mode and set the directory to the music folder on your flash drive; set up settings in a phone [can't change some settings in Android TV], export the settings to a .setting file and copy to your flash drive, import the .settings file using Cx File Explorer; maybe most importantly, avoid a full rescan or you will have to uninstall Poweramp and start all over).
Also, in case anyone else has this issue, when I first set up my projector the flash drive wasn't recognized and the projector would reboot instead of power off. I tried a few things to fix the issue, including reformatting the flash drive until the projector recognized it then slowly loading content onto it a little at a time, and clearing the cache for most apps. I think just letting the projector settle into a routine is what actually fixed these issues. So if you are experiencing these problems, have a little patience with the projector and experiment a little with possible solutions in the meanwhile. Both the N1 and N1 Ultra had the exact same issues for me, and I think something about how I am setting up my projectors, maybe a certain app I am installing or setting I am enabling/disabling, is contributing to the issues. But both projectors experienced what seemed like spontaneous remission from these technological illnesses and now work without any problems.
My philosophy with smart projectors and technology in general is the less bells and whistles, the less that can go wrong, and the less clutter the more efficient, streamlined, and consistent the experience. Keep things simple and problems will be less likely to crop up, OS is less likely to be laggy, and perhaps also the projector will last longer with the hardware being more efficiently used. If you made it to the end of this comment, congratulations. I am notorious for making long comments and messages but hopefully some of this is useful...
The quality of this video is mind bending ❤
I need projector for dark room, i love watching movies mostly at night and I want to share screen from my phone or laptop, i dont want to buy extra stand or tripods for it. which projector is best for this
Great Comparison! Does JMGO N1 suport Netlix? Hbo? TV platform from apple? I somehow see that you can downlad netflix from Google play on JMGO N1 Ultra.Does it apply to N1? How about screen mirroring with iphone, airplay ? etc? Thank you!
Everything but netflix works great.
Great review as usual, how will the new Beng gv31 compare to all this?
I asked BENQ which projector they thought would perform better in this video and they went with the GP100A. I'd guess the GV31 would be similar to the Mogo 2 Pro.
@@TheHookUpThanks for the fast reply, got it
Great review!
Love your reviews - comparing a range of products across a category is hard for the average consumer, so this is really helpful.
Suppose I didn't care about battery or camping, and "portable" just meant unplugging from one room and plugging into another - How would the 1080p HD XGimi Horizon compare to this lineup? Mainly concerned about picture quality (detail in dark scenes) and smooth motion.
JMGO N1 is superior.
@@TheHookUp How would EPSON Mini EF12 Compare. I am seriously looking into it.
@@KING_DRANZER Funny you should ask. JMGO N1 has better picture quality than EF12, but EF12 has some things going for it like no absolutely no RBE and absolutely no Speckle. I personally wouldn't dream of paying $1000 for an EF12, but I just noticed today that Amazon Refurb is selling them for $500, and at that price it's a pretty great projector: amzn.to/42ixeiO
@@TheHookUp That RBE is the reason I am looking into EPSON. But that is bit too dim man. Not even 100nits at 80"
@@TheHookUp Any other recommendation similar to EPSON or other model from EPSON that are brighter. Was looking at LS300 but LOL would that be considered portable.
I really like your review especially the JMGO N1, I bought it last week and I have been testing it for 3 days, I like to watch sports, and when I am watching the NBA or another sport where there is fast movements the picture waves and freezes around the players, I think it is the MEMC setting, did you notice something like that in the unit that you evaluate for this review? thanks.
Are you using built in apps or a streaming stick?
@@TheHookUp in both cases is similar but but it is more noticeable in built in apps, thanks for the replay.
Hi, I’ve seen all your recent projectors videos, what would you recommend for using on a ship ?
At first I thought a normal projector would be better for its price compared to a portable one but the portable one can auto adjust so I’m not so sure anymore.
I'd recommend JMGO N1, it gives you a lot of flexibility in placement and isn't very large.
Just curious, would the Nubula portable projectors be an option for a golf simulator set up in your opinion? The versatility is enticing.
Depends how bright you want to keep your sim. 1000 ANSI is very good brightness for a portable projector, but still 1/4 of most simulators that are made for golf sims.
The best projector review as always! Thanks!
Actually, I am now a fan of Anker. Bought a Mars 2 Pro after your last year video. Now using a Cosmos indoor. One issue I encounter is the remote control, the battery seems to consume very quickly on both Mars 2 Pro and Cosmos. Looking to see a deal on Mar 3 for a trial in the future.
Hello, I just came across your CZcams channel because I'm in search of my first projector. I'll be moving out soon, and instead of a TV, I'm considering setting up my apartment with an "Ultra Short Throw Projector." I've been looking closely at the "XGIMI Projector Aura - 4K" as it falls within my budget, and it seems to have received relatively good reviews. Are there any tips and tricks I should specifically look out for? What would you or others in the comments, recommend within a budget of $2,890.90?!
Have a great weekend!
XGIMI AURA is a great pick, especially at $1599 like it was selling for around Black Friday. If your budget is almost 3k you should go with the Nexigo Aurora Pro. Here's my most recent video on USTs: czcams.com/video/Ef0tNjGDoOU/video.html
Great video, i wonder how the 'Anker Capsule 3' would have done as that is the portable that has tempted me most recently.
actually i see that is in your 2022 video so i can go watch that to get an idea
